That Lifetime: Part 1

Disclaimer: I don't own a thing...well actually I do own some things, but nothing in this fic...well I own the idea(not that it's worth anything), but I don't own anything that belongs to anyone else so...DON'T SUE! Thanx!

Author's Note: This is the sequal to my other story(it's my friend's story too), "Three Day Weekend to Last a Lifetime" you should probably read it first. If you're really too lazy to though, Lemme esplain...no there is too much(not really I just felt like using this quote), lemme sum up: Buttercup is to marry humperdink in little less than half an...er, wrong story....oh right, my story! Buffy's mom is away art buying or something, and having no earth ending prophecies, Buffy invites the gang over to spend the night. They have a "pig out and vid fest" and the next morning Joyce calls to say she'll be gone longer, and Buffy invites everyone to stay for the rest of the 3 day weekend. They agree, Angel proposes, Buffy agrees, and it's all happy-happy fluff-fluff! You really should read it, it's so much better than my sad little summary!

Now on to the note for this story: OKAY, Joyce is way out of character in this, I know, but I'm writing this in my own little world, so just go with it. Also this is so in my time frame and has very little...actually nothing to do with the BUFFYVERSE. And, since this is entirely in my little world, you should know that in this world: Angel's curse has no happiness clause, so none of the bad stuff after "Suprise"(note, I say "Suprise", not "Innocence", so most of what happened in "Suprise" happened, just no soul lossage!) happened, and it's all happy good! This story is really is nothing but fluff! It's 100% fluff and is just the product of my joy at being on Chirstmas break! Please forgive me. You have been warned!

Please send feedback! I love to know what you think. No flames please, but if you really feel the need to flame...get a duraflame log! And now, at long last, on to the story....

Part One

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Buffy was lying on her back staring at the ceiling, and Willow was lying propped on her elbow next to her. They had been cleaning all morning getting the house ready for dinner that night. Now they were taking a break, and talking.

"So you're going to tell her tonight?" Willow asked.

"Yeah. That's why we spent all morning cleaning my house. Angel's going to come over for dinner and we're going to tell her."

"How do you think she'll take it?"

"I don't think she'll be thrilled, but there's something else. Something I haven't told anyone yet."

"What? What's the matter?" Willow's concern was apparent.

"Willow...Will, I'm pregnant. I'm pregnant, and I'm worried about what Angel will think." Buffy sighed, getting up off the bed and going to stand infront of the mirror. Willow came and stood beside her.

"I'm sure he'll be thrilled! He loves you, and he's already proved he wants to be with you, he asked you to marry him."

"I know, but marriage and children are very different. He never even thought he could have kids." Buffy laid her hand on her stomach and frowned at the image in the mirror. "What if he doesn't want them."

"I'm sure he wants them! But speaking of, how is it you're pregnant? I mean the whole vampires can't have little vampires thing, right?"

"I don't know. I'm going to ask Giles, but I wanted Angel to know first, you know? So could you not say anything to anyone?"

"Of course not! But Buffy, what about patroling? Isn't it dangerous, for the baby I mean?"

"I don't know, I'm going to talk to Giles about that too. But Giles gave me tonight off anyways, and if I don't talk to him tomorrow, I'll get Faith to cover for me." Buffy said shrugging. Willow smiled at her friend.

"Can I feel?" she asked shyly. Buffy smiled and nodded emphatically. Willow reached out hesitently and lay her hand gently on Buffy's stomach, if possible her smile got even bigger and so did Buffy's.

"So how are you feeling?"

"Great! I mean not great physically, but aside from worrying about what Angel will think I couldn't be happier! I love Angel so much, and I have our child inside me. I can't tell you how great that feels!" Willow smiled.

"That's so great! I'm so happy for you! I have something to tell you too."

"What?" Buffy asked, curious.

"Oz and I are getting married after graduation."

"Are you serious??"

"Yeah. Remember that weekend he and I went and stayed at that cabin? He asked me then. It was the most perfect moment!"

"I want to hear all about it, but while I'm making dinner. I need to get started. Wanna help?"

"Sure, what are we making?"

"Curried chicken." Buffy said as she walked out her bedroom door. As they made dinner Willow told Buffy all about her and Oz's weekend, and his proposal. Buffy agreed it was the most romantic thing she had ever heard. Dinner preparations went without incident, and it wasn't long before the house was filled with the aroma of cooking food. Buffy and Willow sat at the kitchen counter waiting for the chicken to come out of the oven. Everything else was done, and was keeping warm in the warmer.

"So do you think Xander and Cordy will get married? I mean they seem to be getting really serious, and for all I hated Cordy she has really turned out to be a great person." Willow said taking a sip of her lemonaid.

"She really has. I think it would be great if they did. They really seem to make each other happy, even when they're going at it tooth and nail." Buffy laughed as the timer for the chicken went off. She got up to take it out of the oven, grabbing the counter as a wave of dizzyness hit her.

"Are you okay?" Willow asked jumping to be beside her friend.

"Yeah, just dizzy." Buffy reasurred her, motioning to her stomach. "It happens."

"Oh geez, I gotta jet. I'm meeting Oz for dinner. Good luck tonight." Willow said giving her friend a hug and moving off toward the door.

"Thanks, and Will, congradulations!"

"Thanks! You too!" After Willow left Buffy finished the dinner preparations. Just as she put the last fork down the doorbell rang.

"Come in Angel." She yelled. He joined her in the dining room presenting her with a red rose and soft kiss. Buffy stepped back to admire her fiancee decked out in black slacks, a burgundy shirt, and a black suit jacket.

"You're gorgeous!" She breathed, awestruck by his good looks.

"Thank you! You look incredible!" He said. She reached up to kiss him, but he hesitated.

"Mom's not home yet." She said against his lips, and he relaxed into her. "Oh! Be right back." she dashed up the stairs, reappearing a few seconds later.

"Where did you go?" Angel asked her, and Buffy held up her left hand now adorned with an elegant engagement ring.

"I haven't been wearing it, 'cause I didn't want mom to ask any questions till we were ready to tell her. Have I told how much I love you and how beautiful this ring is?"

"I love you so much, Buffy! I thank god every day that you're in my life! I'm glad you like the ring, it was my grandmothers. I've saved it all these years for you. Even when I was a demon I kept that ring. It was always for you." He smiled at her, and bent down and kissed her. "Do you want to stay at my place tonight?"

"Maybe. Let's see how mom takes the news, okay?" Angel nodded.

"Buffy, I'm home." Her mom called from the kitchen.

"Speak of the devil." Buffy smiled. Angel and Buffy moved to greet her. Over dinner they made pleasant conversation. Angel told Joyce about a lot of the things he had seen in his 243 years, and they talked about different styles of art. Joyce was very interested to hear about some of the pieces Angel had acquired over the years, and Angel said he would be more than glad to show her, and even contribute some to the gallery. When everyone had finished eating Buffy moved to get everyone some coffee.

"Mom, Angel and I have something to tell you." Buffy said coming back in the room and setting a cup infront of her mother.

"Yes?" Joyce asked calmly, hiding a smile behind her coffee cup. Angel moved to stand beside Buffy.

"I've asked Buffy to marry me." Angel said slipping his hand around Buffy's waste.

"And I've agreed. Mom, please don't be mad. I love Angel very much."

"And I love Buffy more than life itself. But I won't marry her without your approval."

"You have my approval." Joyce said from her seat, and took another sip of coffee.

"We do?" Buffy asked incredulous. Joyce nodded.

"Buffy, I love you. You're my little girl, and you always will be. But you're also the slayer, and you've experience more in your 17 years than some people experience in a lifetime. I trust your judgement. And Angel, I know what you are, but I also know that you would never harm my daughter. I like you and I think you're good for Buffy. She's never as happy as when you're around, and far be it from me to stand in the way of my daughter's happiness. But....you better treat her right, if you don't I'll stake you myself. If you think a slayer is something to be reckoned with, you won't believe an angry mother." Joyce smiled at Angel. 'Wait till Giles and I tell them our news!' She thought to herself. Buffy took a step back from Angel and looked at him and then at her mom, not sure which one she was more worried about.

"There's something else." she said quietly. "Mom, Angel, I'm....I'm pregnant."

"I know." Joyce said smiling. "Congradulations."

"You know? How do you know?" Buffy asked amazed at how well her mother was taking all this. She had the growing suspicion her mom had a secret of her own.

"I know the signs, Buffy. I've been there."

"And you're not mad?" Joyce shook her head.

"There's nothing for me to be mad about." She smiled warmly at her daughter. Buffy gave her mom a big hug.

"I love you mom." she said, and then realized that Angel hadn't said anything since she broke the news, and turned to him. "Angel, please don't be..." Buffy never got to finish, Angel rushed forward, picked her up and started spinning her around and kissing her. "Angel. Angel! Put me down. PLEASE!" Buffy pleaded, the nausea pushing in her throat. Joyce seeing Buffy pale put her hand on Angel. He stopped spinning Buffy around and looked at Joyce.

"You need to put her down." Joyce said indicating Buffy's palor. When Angel saw how pale she was he immediately put her down. As soon as Buffy's feet touched the floor she sprinted out of the room. Angel stood there looking rather sheepish. When Buffy returned he kissed her forehead gently.

"I'm sorry." He said. "I was just so happy."

"Just think I was worried you'd be upset." Buffy laughed.

"Upset? Why would I be upset?" Angel asked incredulous. "I want nothing more than to have a family with you. The only thing is I don't understand how. I mean as far as I know I....can't."

"I don't know either. But it's yours, I promise you that."

"Buffy! I never doubted you! Geez, relax! We'll just talk to Giles about it tomorrow. OKay?"

"OKay." Buffy agreed, happy that this evening had gone so well.

"Well, Buffy I have to go out for a while. I have a couple of things I need to do tonight. Are you going to stay here tonight or at Angel's?" Joyce asked her daughter calmly. Buffy just looked at her. 'Is my mom actually willing to let me stay at Angel's? This night just keeps getting weirder.' Buffy thought to herself.

"Go ahead. I'll see you tomorrow. Night Buffy, and again congradulations." Joyce said before leaving to meet Giles. Buffy and Angel just stood there for a moment, before they too left to Angel's apartment.
