Season: 5
Summary: A new vampire's hit town, intent on using the blood of the Slayers to awaken her sire.
The night is black with only a few scattered stars. The slayers walk side by side crossbows in one arm, stakes tucked tightly in their pants. They walk in a comfortable silence through the graveyard, a habit of theirs since the younger one had been called. The young brunette was the first to break it, “So is Spike coming over tonight?” she asked her older sister. “No Dawnie, Spike isn’t coming over tonight, or any other night. Were over. For good.” Buffy answers. Dawn just rolls her eyes, “Yeah whatever.” Buffy turns to glare at her sister but is interrupted by a group of eight very large vampires. “Oh. Looky. We getta party!” Dawn exclaims lifting her crossbow and dusting the vampire closest to her. With a roar the rest charged the two girls but they were easily defeated within 10 minutes, *(a little too easily)* Buffy thought. “Eight vamps in 10 minutes. Isn’t that some kind of record?” Dawn asked. “Probably.” Buffy answered distractedly as they headed home.
“Tough night at the office?” Xander asks the two girls as they enter the Magick Box. After encountering another group of eight vampires on the way home (who had been a little harder to defeat then the first group.) they had decided to call an emergency Scooby meeting. “You could say that. We were patrolling at Restfield and we got jumped by a group of eight vampires who were just a little too easy to beat.” “We kicked their butts in 10 minutes.” Dawn interrupted Buffy. Buffy glared at her sister and continued “After that we were walking home and we ran into another group of eight at Mansfield. Does this mean anything to you Spike?” she turned to the bleached vamp. He just shrugged and Willow spoke up “So I guess this means research party huh?” she asked. “Yeah.” Buffy answered and they broke out the books.
“Eureka!” Willow exclaimed. “You found something?” Buffy asked. She nodded “There’s something about a vampire named Lisette who sends her followers out in groups of eight to capture slayers and bring them to her.” Buffy rolled her blue-green eyes. "Figures." she said."What do they want the Slayers for?" Anya asked. "For a ritual to restore a vampire to full health, kinda like the thing Spike and Drusilla wanted to use Angel for. Seems that Lisette's sire, and lover of course, got his ass kicked real nice by a Slayer back in 1542, ever since then they've been using the blood of all the Slayers they could get their hands on, hoping that one will be the key to awakening him." Willow answered. Spikes eyes widened slightly. "Now that you mention it, I think I might have met the bint once back in the earl 1900's. In London. Me and Dru had gone their searching for Angelus, and met her instead. Crazy as they come she was." he said. "Crazier than Dru?" Xander asked. Spike nodded. "Holy crap, that can't be good." Dawn muttered, but was silenced by a glare from her sister. Even though she was a Slayer now too, Buffy still wouldn't stop treating her like she was 5. It was really starting to get on her nerves. "Okay then, Willow, Xander, Anya, and Tara, I want you guys to stay here and keep researching. Spike, hit Willy's with Dawn, see if he knows anything, I'm going to go patrolling and see if I can find anything. Everyone meet back at my house in an hour." Buffy ordered before she grabbed her black leather jacket and walked out the door.
"Why does she always get to give the orders, I'm a Slayer too." Dawn complained to Spike as they walked towards Willy's. "Because it makes her feel like she's better than the rest of us that's why." Dawn answered her own question, not bothering to wait for Spike's reply, which more likely than not would come out making her sister sound like a saint. "Shh." Spike said, stopping suddenly. Dawn had been so busy rambling on about her sister she hadn't heard the quiet noises coming from the bushes near her. She stopped next to Spike and silently drew out a stake. They crept noiselessly towards the bushes and peered through them and watched as yet another group of eight vampires walked through the cemetery. "Should we follow them?" Dawn asked. "We better not, Buffy will stake me herself if anything happens to you." Spike replied. Dawn turned and glared at him, more rage in her eyes now then he had ever seen before. "Fine, you stay here but I'm going to follow them. I am so sick of being treated like a child. Buffy was my age when she was called as Slayer, how am I any different. I'm a Slayer too, I have just as much power as her, and I'm going. Stay here if you wan't or go and tattle to my sister, just don't try to stop me, if you do, I'll kill you myself." Spike looked at her in shock, but didn't say a word as he followed her into the cemetery.
Dawn charged at the group of vampires, and kicked the largest one, who was at least three times her size, in the chest and he fell to the ground with an oomph. Pulling out a stake, she shoved it into the dead heart of the vampire that was nearest to her, *(One down, seven to go)* she thought excitedly, right before two of the vamps rushed her at once. She dodged, and turned in time to see Spike staking the two vamps, she smiled, she knew he would come to her rescue, he always did, even if she didn't need his help. The vampire she had first knocked down was up and grabbing for her. Dawn spun around and kicked it right on the tip of his massive jaw, sending him flying, then staked the vampire who was getting ready to come to his aid. Spike had finished off the other three, and she signaled to him to let her have the other with a nod of her head. The gigantic vamp rushed her again, and she stood back just in time, and his heart connected with the point of her stake. Dawn dusted herself off and grinned at Spike, who rolled his eyes. "Let's go then Little Bit, If anyone will know what's going on, Willy will."
Buffy entered Willy's just in time to see Dawn throw Willy up against the wall with a grin on her face. "Violent much?" Buffy asked. Dawn whirled and glared at her, but let the guy go. "Has he talked yet?" Buffy asked Spike. The vamp shook his head, and Buffy turned to glare at Willy with full force, the pathetic excuse for a human being took one look at her face and began to speak. "Look, I don't know much, only what I overheard a couple of that Lisette chick's boys talking about the other day." "And?" Buffy asked. "Seems she thinks you and your little sis here are the key to restoring her sire." Buffy raised an eyebrow, waiting for him to continue. He cowered, raising up his hands, "Look that's all I know alright." Buffy nodded and turned to go, with Dawn and Spike following.
Anya, Tara, Xander and Willow were waiting at the Magick Box, large grins on their faces when Dawn, Spike and Buffy returned. "What'd you find?" Dawn asked. "It turns out that you and Dawn becoming sisters and Slayers was prophesied some hundred years ago, and written down in this here book." Xander began, and Willow finished for him, "The prophecy also says that the blood of the sister Slayers will bring about the destruction of mankind, if the Queen of Vampires succeeds in resurrecting her King." Buffy and Dawn's eyes widened. "Are you serious?" Dawn asked, Willow nodded. "Does it say anything about when this plans on going down?" Buffy asked. Willow nodded again, her expression turning serious, "Tomorrow night." she answered.
Buffy walked into the training room in the back of the Magick Box and Dawn followed. "So, what are we going to do about this?" she asked. "You're not going to do nothing. You're going to leave town tonight, and I'm going to kill this bitch." Buffy answered. Dawn glared at her, looking as if she'd personally like to rip Buffy's heart out and feed it to Lisette. "Who do you think you are." she hissed, barely able to speak, she was so angry. Buffy looked at her surprised, "What's you problem?" she asked. "MY PROBLEM IS THAT THE FACT THAT I AM YOUR LITTLE SISTER DOES NOT GIVE YOU THE RIGHT TO TELL ME WHAT TO DO WHEN IT COMES TO MY DUTY! I'M A SLAYER TOO IN CASE YOU'VE FORGOTTEN, AND I'M SICK TO DEATH OF BEING TREATED LIKE A CHILD. NOW YOU CAN FIGURE OUT WHAT YOU'RE GONNA DO ABOUT THIS SITUATION, BUT I AM GOING TO GO OUT, FIND LISETTE AND KILL HER AND ANY OTHER DEMON WHO GETS IN MY WAY!" Dawn yelled as she walked out the door, "EXCEPT SPIKE!" she added, almost as an afterthought before she slammed the door behind her. She walked past the shocked faces of Xander, Willow, Tara, Anya and Spike without a word, and slammed the Magick Box door behind her too.
Dawn wandered the streets of Sunnydale, eagerly looking for something to kill. She had never been this angry in her life, except maybe when her mom died. Her wish was granted, when she saw two vampires heading her way. What she didn't see was the two coming from behind her, and as their fists connected with the back of her head, she was knocked out cold.
"What are you going to do about this Buffy?" Willow asked, coming into the training room. "Do about what?" Buffy asked. "Dawn." Willow answered. "Nothing. I'm going to let her deal with whatever it is that's bugging her on her own, meanwhile, I'm going to train and then I'm going to kill Lisette." Willow shook her head. "You really have no idea do you?" she asked sadly. "No idea about what?" Buffy asked. "You're sister. When you died, I think part of her died with you. Then we found out she'd been called and she was so happy, because she thought it was your final gift to her. Then we brought you back, without even telling her, and I don't think she's quite forgiven any of us for that, and now you keep treating her like she's still a defense less little girl. She's not Buffy. She's a strong, powerful almost woman now, and I think it's time you started working with her, instead of trying to protect her." Willow finished, and Buffy looked at her thoughtfully for a few minutes, before getting up and heading for the door. "I think you're right." she replied and walked out, leaving Willow grinning like a mad man behind her.
"Where's Buff going?" Xander asked Willow as Buffy sailed past him and out the front door. "To find Dawnie." Willow answered. Xander nodded, "Good."
Buffy wandered the streets of Sunnydale, searching for a sign that her sister was somewhere nearby. So far she had nada. She had searched every cemetery in Sunnydale, gone to the Bronze, and Willy's. Nobody had seen her little sister anywhere. She was bending to down to pick up the stake she had dropped when she saw it. The little black purse with the little tiny drop of blood, the sight of which made her feel as if her heart had been ripped from her chest. Lisette had Dawn, and the bitch was going to pay.
Buffy raced back to the Magick Box, and sank down into a chair next to Spike, gasping for breath. "What is it Buffy?" Willow asked. "It's Lisette." Buffy began as she caught her breath. "She has Dawnie." Willow gasped and sat down next to Buffy, but Tara knew just what to do. She took out a map of Sunnydale, and a crystal then called Buffy over. She handed the crystal to Buffy, then chanted a few words. Within seconds the crystal had landed on a street near the Bronze, where an abandoned where house lay. "What was that?" Xander asked. "A modern version of a locater spell. A person with magick blood can use it to locate a missing relative." Willow answered. "This is where Dawn is?" Buffy asked. Tara nodded. "Good. Will, Tara and Spike, come with me. Xander, Anya and Giles go to the house and wait for us. If Spike and I don't get back, get the hell out of town." Buffy said. And then they were gone.
Buffy kicked open the door of the where house and staked the three vamps closest to her, freeing the way for Tara and Willow. The two wiccans joined hands then muttered a few words, using their magick to free Dawn. Then they got the hell out of there. Buffy started kicking and punching her way through the vamps, as she tried to reach her sister, while Spike staked them. She tossed Dawnie a stake and her sister was fighting back within seconds. Soon every minion vamp in the where house had been staked and all that remained was Lisette.
Lisette silently screamed! All her plans, destroyed. Those bitch slayers were gonna pay, and her lover would live again. But not if Spike had anything to say about it. As Buffy and Dawn took turns beating the crap out of Lisette, Spike rushed past her and into the room where Roman slept. He crept over silently and shoved a stake thought the ancient vampires heat rt. As Roman turned to dust Lisette screamed, and Dawn used the opportunity to stake her.
Later that night Buffy and Dawn sat on the couch drinking mugs of cocoa. "I'm so sorry Dawnie. If I had just listened to you before. I know you're strong, and that you can take care of yourself. You proved it before when you staked Dru all on your own. I just don't like the idea of you having to live my life. I worry about you." Buffy said as she sipped from her mug. "I know sis, but you gotta let me grow up sometime. I'm not you. I don't plan on living your life. I like being a Slayer. It makes me feel as if my life means something to someone out there, and when I save someones life, I really feel like I'm doing something important." Dawn replies. Buffy burst into tears, then laughed and hugged her sister. "I love you Dawnie" she said. "I love you to Buffy."
