Tis the Season: Part One: Holiday Spirit

General disclaimer stuff. Joss owns everything and I merely frolic in his imagination.

“Who put this in my office?”
The bustle of Wolfram and Hart employees suddenly stopped, all looking to see who was asking the question. Normalcy quickly resumed when people saw it was Angel. Though it had been close to six months ago that the soulful vampire had taken over, no one wanted to get on his bad side for fear of unemployment or worse.
Standing before the doors of his office, Angel looked out at the constant flow of people. He was still amazed at how many people were employed at the evil law firm and that he was their boss was a bit unsettling as well. But if there was an ulterior motive behind handing over the Los Angeles branch of Wolfram and Hart to Angel Investigations, he would find out.
For the moment though, he would settle for discovering the smaller things.
Clutched in his hand was a decorative angel, like something one would find on top of a Christmas tree or as a centrepiece for the dining room table. Her wings were a sparkling white and her hands were clasped in prayer. He had found it sitting on his desk amongst the piles of papers and file folders.
Angel marched over to Harmony’s desk, receiving a wide berth from some people. They were the smart ones who recognized the anger in his expression. Without announcing himself, the vampire with a soul dropped the angel down in front of his secretary.
Harmony perked up from her work. “Hey, you found her!”
“You put it in my office? Why?”
She scoffed at him and placed the angel upright on her desk. “Holiday spirit, duh. It’s obvious you could use some; the whole office could.”
“Wolfram and Hart isn’t big on the holiday spirit,” Angel clarified, recalling what Eve had told him back in October. “Besides, the last holiday this company celebrated ended in death and chaos.”
“Ugh. Don’t remind me. Gunn ended up peeing around my desk.”
“Which is why I don’t need some cheap angel sprucing up my office.”
“Come on, boss,” begged Harmony. She picked up the figurine and danced it in front of Angel. “Don’t you think she’s cute?” The blonde vampire gave a hopeful smile.
A few people were watching now, their attention caught seeing Angel and an angel together.
“Well, she is shiny,” Angel admitted in a quiet voice.
“Great!” With a thrust of hands, the angel was back in his possession. “You can take her back and put her anywhere in your office. And make room. I’ve got more decorations on the way. The whole floor’s gonna look festive.” The phone on Harmony’s desk rang before she could say anymore. Angel quickly lost her to an in-depth conversation and made his way back to his office.
With a sigh, he plopped down into his chair, examining the angel from every angle. As he looked closer, he saw the details in her features and the exquisite curve of her wings. The serene quality of her expression helped to soften his opinion.
Angel cleared a space on his desk and carefully positioned the angel so she sparkled in the sunlight.
