Season-5
"She's dead." Greenlea said, after she and Willow finished their spell. "Are you sure?" Dawn asked. Willow nodded sadly, "Positive." Dawn picked up the book closest to her and threw it across the room. "Dammit!" she yelled. Nobody said anything. This was not a side of Dawn they had seen before, and nobody was sure how to handle it. "We never should have split up." she said softly. Deciding it was safe, Tara got up and put a comforting arm around Dawn, pulling her into a hug. "It's okay Dawnie. It's not your fault.: she said, patting Dawns back gently. Dawn allowed herself to sob for a few minutes, and wondered if this was how Buffy'd felt the first time she'd lost a civilian. Her whole world was falling apart around her. She'd been a Slayer for only a week, and already her sister had disappeared without a trace, and a member of her team had died under her watch. Dawn let go of Tara and went into the back room for a few minutes to let out some steam. When she came out she was cool, composed and Spike was waiting for her.
"There you are nibblet." he said with a smile. Dawn looked at him suspiciously as a chill ran down her spine. Something was off with Spike. She wasn't sure quite what, but there was something. "What do you want Spike?" she asked coldly. "Got some information for you, and if you make it worth my while, I might be willing to share." he replied. Dawn calmly walked over to Spike and punched him in the face. "Oww.." he whined, playing the defenseless wounded puppy, while inside he was seething. *You'll pay for that later bitch* he thought. "Okay, Okay," he said, and he gave her his 'information'. "This new chick, the one they call the 'queen' she's holding Buffy somewhere near the remains of the high school and whatever they're using Buffy for is going down soon." Spike said. "How do you know all this?" Dawn asked, still not trusting Spike. She didn't't know why. She'd always trusted him before. Maybe her Slayer instincts were getting the better of her, *never trust a vampire* she thought. "Demons talk." he shrugged, then grinned maliciously. "Especially when your burning their flesh off." Dawn rolled her eyes. "Whatever. GET LOST SPIKE! Go annoy somebody else." she yelled, disgusted. Spike left, whistling all the way.
He was still whistling when he returned home and gave first Drusilla, then the restrained Buffy loud smacking kisses on the mouth. Drusilla's kiss was one of worship, Buffy's, one of death. "Hello luvs. Had an interesting day. Your friends should be here anytime. I'm going to enjoy killing them. Especially that sister of yours. Quite a feisty one isn't' she? A lot like you, or well, a lot like you used to be, before you let your high and mighty, I'm so better than everyone else because I've truly suffered attitude get in your way." Buffy didn't say anything. She had learned not to reply to Spikes threats. She was fully confident that her friends and sister would rescue her soon. Rescue her and Spike. Or what was left of him.
Drusilla had used a spell, after Spike had chosen Buffy over her, to get revenge. The spell had separated the demon part of Spike from the human part of him. Even without a soul, Spikes demon had been repressed so long that enough of him had become human for the spell to work. Now there were two Spikes. Drusilla's demonic lover and the now human Spike. The one Buffy had realized she loved. But she also realized that if she didn't find a way to put the demon back in Spike, he would die. She had a feeling that the spell was very similar to the one used on Xander earlier that year, because she had overheard Drusilla saying that killing the human Spike would kill the demonic one as well until the spell could be completed. Drusilla needed Buffy's blood, the blood of someone the complete Spike loved, to finish the spell. But she didn't want to finish the spell until she was sure she'd made Buffy suffer enough, and as far as the psychotic vampire was concerned, Buffy's suffering wouldn't't be completed until she'd watched her family die. Buffy closed her eyes to hold back the tears that threatened to spill. She wouldn't not allow Spike and Drusilla to see her cry, to let them think they had broken her. *Hurry Dawn* she begged
"Dawn wait." Willow said. "What? Why? We know where Buffy is, let's go get her." Dawn replied. "Something doesn't fit. Somethings really off with Spike. I don't trust him." Willow replied. "And that's something new?" Xander asked, raising an eyebrow. "Not really. I don't like Spike, but that doesn't mean I don't trust him. Spike likes being alive, and he knows betraying us would equal a nice pointy stake through the heart, plus, his so-called love for Buffy made me trust that he wouldn't betray us. But. Like I said Somethings off with Spike. He didn't even try to stay and help us go get Buffy. He left without even an argument. I think he's up to something." Willow answered. "Do you think he has Buffy?" Giles asked. Willow nodded. "But that doesn't fit. The Vamps in Willy's bar said something about a Queen-" Dawn stopped, realization dawning on her face. "Spike, and a queen-like vampire. Oh shit. Drusilla's back." Dawn hissed.
