Buffy lay in her bed trying to fall asleep. It wasn’t working. How could Spike be in love with her! It just wasn’t possible. He was a soulless vampire and soulless vampires didn’t love anybody ‘cept themselves, and they especially didn’t love slayers! No. He just couldn’t love her and she definitely couldn’t love him back! But he did love her and she knew it. She had known as soon as he had, she had seen it in those clear blue eyes that couldn’t hide anything from her. She had denied it for as long as she could, not wanting to believe that he could love her, that she could love him back. But he did and she did and she couldn’t sleep without thinking about it. Where did they go from here? She had blocked him from her house so she knew he wouldn’t be coming in to try and talk to her.*(Why did I have Will do that spell again?)* She thought to herself. *(Because you were freaked,*) she answered herself and finally drifted into a sleep filled with dreams of her and Spike.
Spike lay on the bed in his crypt and tried not to think about everything that had gone down that day. First he dumped Harmony, then he told the slayer he loved her, then Dru came back and then he dumped Dru for the slayer and well the only good part had been the fresh, warm human blood he had gotten after Dru had snapped that girls neck and even that had been ruined by the look on Buffy's face after Drusilla had told her. He fell asleep and dreamed of Buffy, little did he know Buffy was dreaming the same prophetic dream, a gift from the Powers That Be, a glimpse at there near future.
Spike and Buffy are dancing in his crypt. He has no idea where the music is coming from and he doesn’t care ‘cause Buffy was wrapped in his arms and holding onto him like she never wanted to let go. She wraps her arms around his neck and kisses him hard "I want you, Buffy, all of you" Spike says quietly. "Not just the slayer. Not just the girl, every single part of you. Slayer bits. Buffy bits. Dark bits. Silly bits. The whole package.” He says what he always wanted to say to her, since the day he had realized he loved her. He said to her the words she had always needed to hear from the men she loved but never had. Her beautiful blue-green eyes filled with tears at these words and she pulled him closer. “I love you.” She whispered and they both woke up.
Buffy walked back and forth across her room trying to decide what to do about the Spike situation. If she admitted to loving she might lose her friends, but if they were truly her friends they wouldn´t care. They had dealt with her loving Angel, but Angel'd had a soul and Spike didn't. But she couldn't continue to lie to herself and Spike. It just wasn't right. Or fair. She really only had one choice, and that was to tell everybody how she really felt, and hope for the best, but did she have the courage to do it? She wasn't so sure. Sure she was brave, she was the Slayer, she didn't really have much choice. It was her duty to put aside her fears of death every night and go out and kill the evil creatures that lived in her world. But when it came to love, it was a whole different story. Buffy sat down on her couch and sighed before picking up her phone. It was time to call Willow, if nobody else would, she would stand by Buffy.
"YOUR WHAT!" Willow screamed at Buffy. "I'm in love with Spike." her best friend answered calmly, she had expected this reaction. She would have been pissed if Willow had lied to her and pretended she had no problem with Buffy's revelation. Willow jumped up off the couch and began pacing back and forth, then stopped, suddenly suspicious. "Are you Faith?" she asked. Buffy's eyes widened, then she rolled them, "No. I'm not Faith. Look, I know it's crazy, and irrational, and just plain stupid, but I love him. I really do. And he's different now, he's, well he's not good, but he's not completely evil either." Willow sat back down. "Have you told anybody else?" she asked. Buffy shook her head. "I though I'd start with you. What do you think I should do?" she asked. Willow sighed, and grasped Buffy's hands. "You should follow you're heart. Don't lose out on love again. You gave up Angel too keep us safe, I won't let you do it again." Buffy grinned happily, she had heard exactly what she wanted and needed to. After hugging Willow so tightly it was sure to leave a bruise, she jumped up and headed for Spikes.
The door to Spikes crypt slammed open, and he sighed, certain of his imminent doom. "Slayer." he said, before he even saw her, because he'd recognize her sent if he was in a room crowded with women, and blindfolded. "Spike. We need to talk." Spike's eyes widened as he finally looked at her. She looked just as she had in his dream, long blond hair flowing, curling at the ends, and wearing a simple blue sun dress, with pink floral print. "What 'bout?" he asked, wondering when she was going to get around to killing him. Buffy started pacing, looking anywhere but at him. After a few minutes of tense silence Spike decided to take the matter into his own hands, and jumping up off his bed her grabbed the slayer by her shoulders and gave her a piercing look. "What the hell is going on Buffy?" he asked, and she shivered as he said her name. She couldn't remember him ever doing that before. She bit down on her bottom lip and started nibbling, breaking eye contact with Spike. She sat down on his bed and looked up at him for one long moment, before taking his large hands into her own small ones. "I love you." she said, and Spike felt as if he might faint. "What?" he asked, sure he was hearing things. Buffy laughed at his reaction, as she regained her confidence. She had nothing to fear here, and she knew it. Spike loved her and she loved him. Somehow, they would work it all out. "I Love YOU!" she screamed, and Spike's face broke out in a grin as he gathered her into his arms, and buried his face in her hair before finding her mouth with her own. "I love you too." he replied, and from somewhere, music started playing and they danced.
“One less call to answer
Feeling full of despair
Don't think I can get through it
Just one last prayer
And it's a leap of faith
When you believe
There's someone out there
It's a leap of faith
When you believe that
Someone cares, oh
And when I call out to you
Will you be right there
Right there”--Michelle Branch 'Leap of Faith'
