Part Two

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

She decided that now was not the best time to introduce herself to him, amd maybe something a little more dramatic and carefully planned might be better. She did her best at avoiding his attentions and countinued on her way. Distaracted by what she was planning on doing, she hardly heard the male voice that was calling her name.

"Erin? Earth to Erin? Anyone home in there?"

"What?" she said as she turned around to face the person calling her. "Oh my God! Tim, is that actually you? Oh my God!" she yelled as she threw her arms around him. He embraced her as tightly as she did him, if not tighter.

"I messed you so much," he confessed.

"Oh God! I love you! I thought that you were gone. I mean...:

"I know. But I'm not gone, and I didn't know how to find you, but I expected you would show up here sometime, so I waited for you." he said as he interrupted her.

"Oh God. It feels so good to be inyour arms again. I love you."

"I love you too. Why did you come here?"

"Something I need to do, you know what it's about. I can't talk about it in public, and you know that. Here's where I'm staying," Erin said to David as she handedhim an address, "but please be careful, and get there before dark. Please."

"I promise." Tim said to her as he gave her an affectionate peck on the cheek, and continued walking towards the school buiolding.

'Please be careful David' Erin thought to herself as she watched him walk away. 'Now, for the hard part.' Erin had no idea where to start, but she figured that the safest bet would be the library. After all, Mr. Giles had acquired the job as the head college librarian for UC Sunnydale. That would probably be where they spent a good portion of their time. Without a second thought, Erin turned in the direction of the library, and started walking confidently towards it.

"Now, Buffy, you know that you have to balance these things equally. You must concentrate on your school work, not everything can be focused on..."

"Slaying?"

All of the heads of the Scooby Gang turned towards the unfamiliar voice in the room.

"Pardon me?" Giles said with a tone of fear in his voice.

"I'm sorry. I hadn't meant to startle you. I was wondering if you could help me find some books on the slaying of witches during the Salem Witch Trials."

"You're not a student here. How come you're here?" Buffy asked the stranger who had frightened them, and nearly giben them all heart attacks.

"Well, no, I'm not. I'm from out of town. I have the dean's permission toborrow some books, as I heard that you keep one of the most interesting libraries in all of the country, Mr. Giles. Rupert, I believe. Yes?"

"Yes. The witch trial books are limited in this library although we do have a few. All I need is your name."

"Erin. My name is Erin."

"Very well erin. How long do you need these books for?"

"Just the night. Tomorrow, I would like your help on a nother subject. would you possibly be able to take a few minutes? If not, it's no worries, but I promise it won't take much time out of your schedule. I hear you're very knowledgeable on the subject."

"Well, yes, I'm knowledgeable and profficient in most any subject. What may I ask are you going to be looking for, or inquiring about, so I may catch up a little tomorrow?"

"Oh, there'll be no need for catching up."

"Oh really? What am I so learned in that I don't need my memory refreshed in."

Erin picked up her books and was about to leave when she turned around to face the group. "Vampires." she stated, and then walked out of the room, leaving the group in a state of shock.

"Giles, how could she know that you know about vampires? Do you think she knows about *us*?" Buffy asked witha worried tone in her voice.

"I don't see how she could possibly know. I don't even recognize her."

"And she can't be a vampire, because, well, that wonderful thing called the sun is shining and we all know what happens to a vampire in the sun."

"Yes Xander, thank you for the reminder. I forgot about that one.: Buff said disgustedly, with a searcastic tone in her voice. "Giles, what was her name?"

"Erin, I believe. Maybe you can run and catch up to her and find out who she is Buffy. I certainly wouldn't want someon with that much infor mation getting away. Would you?

Buffy had already ran out the door before Giles could finish his sentence. She ran into the hall, and yet wherever she looked, Erin could not be seen.

'You should be more careful, Slayer. You might get yourself into trouble running around the halls like a crazy woman.' Erin thought to herself as she saw a blonde figure racing by the corner she was standing in. Erin walked off of the campus. She perused the town for the rest of the day, noticing the quietness of the faceada of Sunnydale. suddenly bored by the human part of Sunnydale, she walked to the motel she was staying in, and started unpacking her things. 'I'll be here for a while, so I might as well get comfortable.' The night wore on as Erin settled down to some Chinese take-out and whatever was playing on the motel TV. She had nestled onto a spot on the corner of the bed when she heard a loud knock on the door. She jumped over the couch, grabbed a stake from one of the dresser drawers, and timidly opened it. In the entranceway stood Tim.

"You made it!" she exclaimed happily.

"I should say the same for you. What happened after...after..."

"I died?"

"You sound happy about it. What happened after you died?"

:A person who will remain unnamed picked me up and took me to a building, where someon resuscitated me. Tim, there's something I have to tell you."

"Can I maybe come in first?" Tim asked motioning towards Erin, who was blocking the entranceway to the room.

"I'm sorry. Of course you can. I wouldn't trust you being out so late at night anyways."

Tim stepped into te room and surveyed the surroundings. "So, what do you have to tell me?" he asked as he turned around and looked Erin in the eye. She walked over to the bed, where she sat down and motioned for him to do the same.

"Tim, you're going to need to sit down for this. Trust me. Oka, so you're the only person who knew about my past besides, well, you know." Erin struggled to get it out as Tim ut his arm on her shoulder to comfort her.

"I know." he whispered.

"Well, not anumore. The perople who resuscitated me were the people who killed me, but only to protect me."

"{rotect you from what? Protect you from me?" Tim yelled angrily as he jumped off of the bed. Erin got up and walked over to him.

"You know that you're not the reason. I love you. That will never change."

"Then why were you killed, and then brought back, but taken away from me, and who did this?"

"The Watcher's Council."

"What?"

"In oder to protect me from an inevitable death, and from destroying myself. I know that I had you, but I was so scarred inside from what happened that I couldn't hang on. This has been good for me, and you have to understand that it wasn't my choice. I didn't want it done, but I've accepted that it was. And now I'm back."

"But you're not back for me."

"How was I supposed to know that you would still be waiting. Look, Tim, I have a job to do, and if you're going to do this to me, and not help me out, then I would like you to leave. I don't have a choice about this. I never did, and you know that. Like I was supposed to say, 'No, don't kill me. Please.' that's not the way it works. Now, I have to stop it from happening again."

"They're going to kill you again!?!"

"No."

"But you just said it's happening again, and you have to stop it. If not you, then who?"

"The Slayer."

"Angother slayer? But, I thought there was only..."

"A new slayer is called when another one dies. I died. The new slayer, she lives here, and she's in great trouble. I'm here to fix it."

"Hang on a second. The Watcher's Council *killed* you, and now you're a member of the Watcher's Council. No way, you're here to kill her aren't you, and take her away from everyone she loves."

"Actually no, I'm here to do the exact opposite of that. I'm here to protect her, and make sure no harm comes to her. She is in great danger, and I'm going to make sure that the world doesn't end."

"And how might you do that?"

"In order to save the world, I have to save the slayer. Come sit down again. I'll tell you everything."

David walked over towards the chair in the corner of the room and Erin followed him.

Buffy, Willow, and Xander were walking through the cemetary, all equipped iwth stakes.

"I'm sure glad we all chose to stay in this hellhole, or should I say hellmouth?"

"Xander, choice is not the word to use in my case. Remember, Slayer, save the world?"

"Sure, rub it in my face."

"I'm sorry, it's just I'm still dealing with those 'sour grapes'. You know. Anyway, does anyone agree with me that that girl freaked us out today? I was really hoping that I might encounter her tonight, and maybe cut her head off. ou know, it would really help if she just happened to be a demon, and not just another person who happened to figure out my secret."

"I guess that is kind of a downsider to the 'I get to save the world' thing. Nobody will ever know, except us of course." Willow chimed in.

"What was her name again? I know Giles told me."

"Erin, she said." Willow responded to Buffy's question that came up every time they got onto the topic of the mystery girl.

"You called?"

Buffy ran up to Erin, ready to throw her arms around her neck and throw her into the cement wall behind them. Erin grabbed Buffy from her lunge very quickly and instea threw her towards the ground.

"Whoa, back off bitch!"

Buffy ran towards Erin again, but Erin blocked her blows, going gentle on her, being sure not to throw her. Willow and Xander stood bu in shock.

"Uh, Will, maybe we should help Buffy."

"There's no need to. Buffy will be leaving me alone now, since I'm not going to hurt her!" Erin directed her last comment towards Buffy,, while crossing her arms acroos her chest.

"Alright, I'll leave you alone, if you tell me who you are."

"Well, I'd figure after being told my name about a hundred times that you'd know it. May I remind you again, my name is Erin."

"Yeah, I got it. That's not what I wanted to know. Who are you?"

"Take me to Mr. Giles and you'll soon find out. I have ot stop somewhere first."

Erin, Buffy, Willow, and Xander all walked to Erin's motel room. Erin opened the door and walked over to the bed.

"Tim, come on, we have to go. Remember?" Tim awoke from the light sleep he was engaged in.

"Hang on a second. There's no way that he's coming! There's way too many people."

"He comes, or I don't. He already knows, you don't need to worry about him."

"Knows what?"

"About all that stuff that happens here. About vampires, demons, hellmouth! The fact that you're the slayer.:

"What?"

"Oh, don't play stupid. Everybody in this room knows that you're the slayer. You don't need to try and hide it. Now, are you going to take me to Rupert or not?"

"How do you know all of this?" Willow asked flustered.

"Take me to Mr. Giles and you will all find out soon enough. If you don't co-operate, you'll never know who I am, why I'm here, and what I can do."

Erin, Tim, Willow and Xander all filed out the door behind Buffy, Erin shutting the door behind her. They walked towards Giles' apartment, and Buffy banged loudly on the door.

"Giles! Get out of bed or off the couch or whatever you're doing. If you're not her in 30 seconds, I'll kick the door down!"

Giles opened the door just as Buffy finished her last sentence.

"Buffy, will you please keep it down," Giels tried to quiet Buffy when he recognized Erin standing behind the group, along with another stranger, "What are you doing here," he said pointedly at Erin, then glancing towards Tim, "and who is that? Buffy, why did you bring them to my home?"
