Part Two

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Silently Buffy heard alarms clanging in her head. All of her slaying had been confined to comparatively minor assignments, ahe had never been called upon to rescue a head of state. Regardless of her presonal feelings towards the man, Buffy knew that she could not turn her back on this assignment, it was too important to national stabilty. It was a big job, but she was the only one qualified to do it.

"Okay" she said, taking a deep breath "Do we know any more about this case?" she said, trying to get a picture of the sittuation, looking for any information that could be useful. Although she did not have Giles's watcher abilties, she found herself wishing that she had access to his monster books, which would probaly be very usefull right about now.

"They say that they are from the order of Aries, and they want the national Blood supply..or else they will turn the president into one of them. They seem very deadly." Agent Cobain volunteered, sounding disoriented by her own statement.

, Buffy thought, wrting down what the agent had just said. Due to the secrecy of the mission, she would have to temporaily relocate to LA, and live in a rented house. Havining been recently given a car, there was only one problem...how to break the news to mom.. While Joyce Summers wasn't exactly aware of the her daughter's realites, she did have a right to know where her only daughter would be going---but that could be dealt with at a later date.

"In all of my years in the department, I've encountered vampires in any of my assingments, and training never forewarned about the possiblity of this." Agent Cobain remarked, her voice cracking with the weight of somebody who was a good canidate for a nervous breakdown. Privately, Buffy felt very sorry for her, the agent was probaly recciving THE shock of her life.

"Please come by the LA office tomorrow at 4pm for a preliminary briefing on the matter. We will also be showing you where you will be residing for the durration of this mission. If you have any further questions, please bring them with you. Thank you Buffy and goodnight." Agent Cobain said, ending the conversation.

After hanging up the phone, Willow began prodding Buffy for details of her conversation. Seeing as how Willow was essential in Slaying support, Buffy gave her all of the details. By the time Buffy had finsihed telling the story, the computer hacker was gasping for air, quite unable to belive the truth laid before her.

"Oh my god, that's not something you hear about everyday, that's something that belongs in the action/adventure movie of your choice---not real life". Willow finished, her eyes sparkling with adrenaline. It was a safe bet to say that their night of relaxation had officaly been tossed in the toilet.

"Yeah." Buffy agreed, still slightly daunted by the task in front of her, the biggest Slaying job that she had ever held. "It's kinda a strange situation. Perhaps Angel is home, seeing as how he was an FBI agent in the 1920's, he's bound to at least have some pointers on working with the feds, because I realy need somebody who can explain what to look for" she said, dialing his number.
