Road Not Taken: Love Is...

by Slayers Of The Night

Buffy snuggled down into Angel’s embrace. They had just spent forty minutes in the most amazing make out session Buffy had ever been a part of. Angel buried his face in her hair and murmured something in-distinguishable.

"What?" Buffy asked, pulling away slightly and leaning her head back to look at him.

"I said that we should think about getting out soon. I don’t know about you, but I’m getting pruny," Angel sighed. Buffy nodded but made no move to get up. Finally Angel stood and lifted her out. Then he wrapped them both in warm fluffy towels.

"So what should we do now?" Buffy asked as she dried off and then put her clothes back on.

"I was thinking we could all sit down and watch a movie. Maybe Gladiator or something," Angel suggested.

"Oh no. Gladiator? Cordelia will not be happy with you," Buffy laughed. Angel slipped his arm around her shoulders as they headed down stairs.

"Well then what should we watch?" Angel asked.

"We should watch…a comedy. How about Elf? It’s Christmas-y and hilarious," Buffy suggested. Angel nodded and shrugged.

"Elf it is."

Early the next morning, all the teenagers were gathered around the breakfast table. The girls were at one end, discussing more of Angel and Buffy’s steam making session, while Angel and Spike sat at the other end, arguing over some random little thing.

"So, he’s a good kisser?" Willow asked.

"A great kisser," Buffy corrected as she nodded emphatically. They were interrupted my a ringing doorbell.

"Who’s that? Dru doesn’t ring the doorbell. And nobody else comes over uninvited," Spike drawled. Buffy, Cordelia, and Willow exchanged looks. And then they jumped up and ran for the door. Angel frowned afte them.

"Oh," he said after a moment. "I bet it’s the other guys." Sure enough, Willow and Cordelia screamed. Angel stood up to welcome the new guests.

"Hey guys," he said as he came upon a happy Willow and Cordelia kissing their respective guys. Buffy smiled and wrapped an arm around his waist.

"Guys? You wanna come up for air for a sec?" Buffy asked. Oz and Xander gently pushed Willow and Cordelia away.

"Welcome. I’m Angel. My brother Spike is in the dining room being anti-social as usual." Angel reached out the hand that wasn’t attached to Buffy and shook their hands. Xander eyed Angel warily.

"So, what’s this?" Xander asked, motioning between Buffy and Angel.

"Um, Xand, Angel and I are dating," Buffy explained. Xander’s eyes went wide.

"Since when?"

"Last night. Chill out, Xander." Buffy hissed. Xander sighed.

"Fine, but listen up bucko: if you hurt her, I’ll kill you with my bare hands," Xander warned.

"I promise not to hurt her," Angel said, looking into Buffy’s eyes as he said it. Buffy smiled and squeezed Angel’s side.

"Good. So, let’s get this vacation started!" he cheered.

That day, Angel took them sight seeing. He took them to Times Square to go ice skating.

"I love skating," Buffy whispered as she laced up her skates.

"I love that you love skating. Ready?" Angel asked, holding out his hands. Buffy took them and the couple started skating slowly around the rink.

"Buffy!" Willow called. She waved from across the rink, while holding tightly to Oz’s arm. Buffy laughed and waved back. Buffy turned her attention to Xander and Cordelia. This time, it was the guy being held up by the girl. Cordelia rolled her eyes as Xander tried to get his footing.

"So, you didn’t have a boyfriend back in Sunnydale?" Angel asked.

"No. I haven’t for a while. The last guy I dated was kind of a jerk. But we really don’t need to talk about him."

"Okay, let’s talk about something else. Favorite quote?" Angel asked. He was determined to find out everything about Buffy he could possibly know before she went back home.

"Love is patient, Love is kind, It does not envy, it does not boast, It is not proud, It is not rude, It is not self-seeking, It is not easily angered, It keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil, but rejoices with the truth. Love always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.
Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.
Love never ends. L o v e N e v e r F a i l s. Corinthians 13 : 4 - 8. That’s without a doubt my favorite quote," Buffy said, closing her eyes as she recited it.

"It’s beautiful. And so are you," Angel muttered. He bent down and kissed Buffy. He would be all those things for her. No matter what.

A/N: Okay, so this was a rare moment of inspiration for this story. Hopefully I’ll keep writing on it (or Beloved Slayer if she wants) and there will be another update soon. But, don’t hold your breath. ~Ksue
