Part Two

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"Ms Summers!"Principal Snyder bellowed, his face savagely contorting, "You are in deep trouble young lady" Jarring the slayer out of her romatic haze, the weasely adminstrator continued ranting. she thought, desparatley trying to control her mouth as she was lead into his office. she sighed

"What on earth posesses you to engage in delinquent actions" he questioned, eagerly thumbing through her thick file. Knowing Synder was determined to bring her down, Buffy kept her poise, seated in the vinyl chair before her antagonist. "I have never ever seen such behavior in all my years of education!"he continued.Since it was pointless to atempt an explanation about her destiny, she remained silent. While his denunciations made her mad as hell, she recognized her limited options. she remined herself, half listening to Synder's prolonged ranting.Since she had become the slayer, she had the misfourtune of unitentionaly iritating her principals; it was an unfortunate two-for one deal.Even Hemery High's Gary "party guy" Murray had gotten steamed at her---which seemed impossible given his incessant fixation on describing his drug filled youth. she thought, fidding with her thumbs.Unlike her present sittuation, Murray had actualy been pretty laid back, only getting steamed when she blew up the gym, which constituded a valid reason...if you weren't aware of the vampire siege beforehand. It seemed that Synder was naturaly anal-retentive, he hated people regardless of their actions.

"Just you wait here, I'm going to call your mother and tell her all about your delinquent ways."he continued. Buffy knew that she was going to have a long time to think about her actions. Although her mom had been a women's libber, she realy applied the double standard to her daughter. In the past she had participated in street demonstrations, now she was concerned if Buffy did "werid things" .Aware that their "talks" were her way of trying to steer Buffy in the right direction, they could also be a huge pain in the rear at times. Needless to say, she was certan that she would also find herself grounded.Thank goodness I got the window unlocked> recalling the handiwork that her mother's boyfriend had done. The fact that Ted had turned out to be a robot wasn't realy surprising she mused to herself, counting the number of unconventional relationships that her circle of friends had been in. First there was her and Angel, then there was Xander and the She-mantis, then there was Willow and a Robot. Given the abormal scenarios, Buffy was half convinced that Oz would turn out to be a werewolf or something interesting like that. Although she hated to double cross her mother, she also knew that she needed to go out patroling Buffy thought. Although she was only 16, most days mader her feel as if she was going on 30---being a slayer realy aged one fast.

After confrencing with Joyce Summers over the phone, Synder turned back to his captive, a snake like expression on his face. Buffy felt sick, her day was turning out to be realy crappy. she puzzled, convinced that there was some sort of conspiracy aganist her. She had realy screwy dreams about prophecies, worried about the undead and regularly added to her nifty colection of ruined clothing. She wasn't a clotheshorse, yet she did want to look reasonable. she thought, gratefull for Snyder's small concession to student rights. While he wasn;t the most congenial person in the world, he understood the absurdity of trying to get students to wear fashions that the clotheing world was not putting out. There was no chance in hell that the highly connected in corwd would comply with such regulatios either.Earlier in the day, she had overheard Cordelia ranting about women's oppresion----because of the new fall colors. Apparently Cordelia did *not* read Ms. magazine.Buffy laughed at that last thought:she mused, watching Synder prepare himself for round two. she contemplated.

"Well, I talked to your mother, and she says that you are in serious trouble young lady?" Buffy winced everytimehe said "lady". Unlike the word "woman, the term seemed to imply frailty and submissiveness, characteristics that made her vommit. For all of her time in Synders office, she had never heard him refer to a male student as "young gentleman" It was true that some women did not mind the usage of such a term, yet she was certain that the category did not include her. While she did acept the term in the beginig years of her life, her calling had unexpectedly politicized her outlook on things. She suddenly refused to brush off incidents of sexual harrasment or deffer to her then-boyfriend Jeffery she thought, recalling how important he once was to her life. While it was not abuisive, Synder's word choice still left her with an uncomfortable feeling.Word usage was one of the key issues that her mom and her agreed on, convinced that her mother would have second thoughts about Synder's intellegence if she could hear his language.Unfourtunately, Buffy had to deal with the present, which did include a grounding. She groaned, wishing that she could bypass the torments of adolescence, and just do what was needed to save the world from mass anihilation. If you looked past his crimes, Angel had it made in several ways.
