What Can We Do: 2
by Spikes Queen
After almost everyone had left the party, Buffy found Spike watching Dawn sleep.
She approached him. “She’s in bed early.”
“She’s tired,” Spike said.
Buffy looked up at him. “Only Willow and Tara are here, but I think we can have our chat,” she said, leading him to her room.
Buffy sat Spike on her bed and stood in front of him with her hands on his shoulders. “I am sorry.”
“I know,” Spike said, his hands coming to rest on her waist.
Tears welled in Spike’s eyes. “God, Spike. I’m so confused and lost. I don’t know what I’m doing,” she whispered.
“Well, if you told me what was wrong, I would’ve helped you,” he said.
“I didn’t…. I don’t understand,” Buffy whimpered.
“What don’t you understand?” Spike asked, softly.
Buffy sniffled. “I don’t understand anything. I’m not supposed to feel this way , but I do.”
Spike pulled her closer to him and he looked at her. “Buffy, I cant help you if you don’t talk to me,” he said.
“I don’t want you to leave,” Buffy whispered.
Spike stood up and wiped her cheeks. “Buff, I’m never gunna leave you. I promise you that,” he said, softly.
Buffy sniffled but nodded.
Spike wrapped his arms around her and kissed the top of her head.
Buffy buried her face in his chest and let the tears flow over.
After awhile her tears stopped and she just laid her head against his chest. She closed her eyes and sniffled occasionally.
Buffy ran her hand up and down his back. Spike’s hand was over her ear, cradling her head. His other arm was closed over the majority of her back. “Love you, Buffy.”
Spike felt her tense but she relaxed quickly.
“I know,” she said, lifting her head to look at him.
Buffy leaned up and kissed him softly, snaking her arms around his neck as she pushed herself up against him.
Spike tangled a hand in her hair and kissed her back.
Buffy pulled away slightly. “Do you wanna stay with me tonight?” She asked, shyly, feeling much like the 16 year old she used to be.
“Do you think that’s a good idea?” Spike asked, leaning his forehead against hers.
“If you can deal with one night without sex,” she said.
Spike kissed her gently. “I’ll let you get ready,” he said.
Reluctantly, Buffy let him go. She changed her into her pj’s and bushed her hair.
Spike waited patiently for her to finished changing and she heard her tell him it was ok.
He watched as she brushed her short and he realized he missed her long locks.
He went over and kissed her hair softly, taking the brush. “You look fine,” he said.
Buffy sighed happily and leaned up against him. “Tara knows,” she said, softly.
Spike raised an eyebrow but didn’t say anything.
“She’s looking into the spell that brought me back. She said there was nothing wrong with me and I lost it,” she said, softly.
“Whaddaya mean?” Spike asked.
Buffy turned in his arms. “I was scared. I thought there was something wrong with me because I like being with you. There’s not but I didn’t really want to admit that so I broke down and cried,” she said, her arms going around his neck.
Spike wrapped his arms around her waist and pulled her close to him. “I’m sorry, Buffy.”
“I know. I’ve excepted it and I just need you to be here with me,” she said, softly.
Spike scooped her up and laid her in bed. He toed off his boots and climbed in next to her. He pulled her into his arms and purred softly, hoping it would calm her nerves. “Get some sleep, Pet,” he said, softly.
Buffy nodded and sniffled. “Thank you,” she whispered, before drifting into sleep.
Spike watched her for a little bit as he always did before sleeping as well.
When Buffy woke, Spike was still sleeping. He had a tight hold on her but she didn’t mind. She ran her fingers over his slightly bruised face. “How can you love me with what I’ve done?”
“Very easily,” he said, sleepily.
“But I’ve been so horrible to you,” Buffy whispered.
“No, you’ve been Buffy. I’m not gunna stop loving you, no matter what,” he said.
“Buffy1” Came Dawn’s voice.
“Yeah?” Buffy asked.
Dawn opened the door and smiled. “Did I interrupt something?” She asked.
Buffy smiled. “No, we were just talking,” she said.
Dawn giggled. “Anyways, Giles is on the phone,” she said.
“This early?” Buffy asked.
“It’s 11:30, Buffy,” Dawn said.
“Crap! I have to get to work,” she said, flying out of bed.
“No. You’re taking a sick day. I already called.”
Buffy blushed. “Thanks, Dawnie,” she said, looking over at Spike who had the dejected look in his eyes. She frowned and climbed back in bed with him to snuggle with him. “Sorry.”
“You guys are so weird,” she said. “Giles is still on the phone,” she said.
Dawn handed the phone to Buffy. “Hello? Hey Giles…No…Yes I am…Cool….I’ll see you in a few days. Bye,” she looked at Spike. “Giles is coming over for a visit just to check up on us,” she said, laying her head on his chest.
Dawn smiled. “I’m going out with Tara,” she said. “I’ll see you guys later.”
Buffy looked at Spike. “What are we gunna do?” She asked, her hand sneaking under his shirt.
“I’m sure we can find something,” Spike said, kissing her.
