Part One

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I'm just a girl, living in captivity,
Your rule of thumb,
Makes me worry some,
I'm just a girl, what my destiny?

What I've succumbed to,
Is making me numb,
I'm just a girl, my apologies,
What I've become is so burdensome,

I'm just a girl, lucky me,
Twiddle-dum, there's no comparison.

No Doubt-Just a Girl

It had been six months since the last of demonkind had been sealed away.

Six months in a very strange way.

Time had been reversed by the cataclysmic sealing. In the process, all those who knew of the Slayer forgot, including herself. Except for the Watchers Council.

It was decided to let the Slayer remain an ordinary girl. So she lived out her life as an ordinary girl.

As for Angel, he was sealed away in a giant stone tomb, sleeping until the need for champions came again. All remained quiet.

But the seals were breaking down. And slowly, a doomsday cult bent on destruction eroded them so monsters and demons slowly crept back into the world.

* * *
BUFFY: Oh god, I'm gonna be late!

(Scene: Buffy's room. She runs out of it, down the steps, out the door, and jumps into her mom's SUV.)

BUFFY: Well, we're off!

(Her mom pulls out of the driveway)

JOYCE: You were having those nightmares again last night.

BUFFY: (laughs uncomfortably) Yeah, they seem so real. Almost like I'm living them.

JOYCE: Those dreams? Heaven forbid!

(Cut to front of Sunnydale High. Cut to inside of school. Buffy's checking out some schoolbooks from the library. The librarian is an old woman, not Giles.)

BUFFY: Hey, thanks. (Scoops up books.) For some reason this library feels really familiar.

LIBRARIAN: Funny, that's the second time today someone's said that. She was such a sweet little redhead.

BUFFY: Uh, right. Gotta go! (She leaves the library.)

(Cut to graveyard at night. A blonde girl is cutting through the cemetary.)

GIRL: Brrr. Cold.

VOICE FROM BEHIND GIRL: Verrryy cold.

(The girl whirls around.)

GIRL: Who's there? This isn't funny.

(Lothos appears right behind her.)

LOTHOS: Oh, no, not funny all. (Bites her, drains her, drops her.)

LOTHOS: Almost too easy.

(Fade to black)

(Scene: Buffy's room. There's piles of things lying around her room.)

BUFFY: Arghh! (Paws though chest.)

JOYCE: (From downstairs) All of it, Buffy. Your room's a mess.

BUFFY: Gee, thanks mom. And I wanted to go to the Bronze.

(She keeps pawing through the chest, then finds a small black jewelry box.)

BUFFY: What's this. (Opens it. The claddagh ring is inside.)

BUFFY: (Softly) It's beautiful. This is the ring from my dream!

(She tries it on. It fits perfectly.)

BUFFY: Wear it with the heart to the inside and...

(She stops. A strange look crosses her face.)

BUFFY: Oh god. I remember.

(She digs some more through her chest. She finds Angel's cross. Clasps it around her neck.)

BUFFY: The sealing. Now I know. (Shudders.) God. Willow and the others, they don't even remember.

(Cut to scene of Buffy walking through Sunnydale.)

Lyrics: I will remember you.

(Cut to Buffy walking through cemetary. She stops where Jenny Calender's tombstone was. Buffy kneels on one knee and brushes her hand across the grass.)

Lyrics: Will you remember me?

(Cut to Buffy standing by the docks. She walks over to the railing, and runs her hand along it.)

Lyrics: Don't let your life, pass me by.

(Cut to Buffy entering the mansion.)

Lyrics: Weep not for the memory.

(Cut to garden of mansion. Camera pans right to Buffy standing by glass door. She is staring out into the night.)

Lyrics: So afraid to love you, more afraid to lose

(Flashback to scene in Becoming Part Two)

ANGEL: Buffy? What's going on.

BUFFY: Shhh. It doesn't matter. (Kisses him deeply.)

BUFFY: I love you.

ANGEL: I love you.

BUFFY: Close your eyes. (He shuts them.)

(Buffy pulls away. Braces herself. Rams the sword through Angel's stomach. Angel's eyes fly open and he looks at her in shock)

ANGEL: Buffy?

(Cut back to the garden, present time.)

Lyrics: Clinging to a past that doesn't let me choose.

(Flashback to Becoming Part Two, this time to the Summers house,)

JOYCE: If you walk out that door, don't come back.

(Buffy looks sadly at her mother, then leaves.)

(Cut back to garden. Buffy is crying.)

Lyrics: Where once there was a darkness, a deep unending night,

(Cut to Buffy sorting Angel's thing. She finds a diary, and begans to read. She starts to cry again.)

Lyrics: You gave me everything I loved, oh you gave me life.

(Cut to Buffy pushing open double doors, and walking into a large stone room. A stone tomb rests on a dias of marble. She walks over to it, and slumps down by tomb.)

Lyrics: I will remember you. Will you remember me? Don't let your life, pass me by. Weep not for, the memory.

(Fade to commercial)

(Scene: It's night. Buffy is wandering through the cemetary. She stops and looks around.)

BUFFY: Heelloo, who's there?

(She turns and peers around. Just then, Kendra steps out of the bushes.)

BUFFY: Kendra! Oh god.

KENDRA: You remember?

BUFFY: Yeah. You?

KENDRA: No one else seems to. I can't seem to find my Watcher.

BUFFY: Me neither. I guess they forgot too.

KENDRA: What should we do?

VOICE: You can die!

(Buffy and Kendra whirl around. Four vampires are standing behind them.)

BUFFY: It never rains, but it pours. (To Kendra:) Are you ready.

KENDRA: I was born ready.

(The vampires leap at them. Buffy and Kendra pull out stakes and go back to back. The first vampire impales himself on Kendra's stake. Another vampire leaps at Buffy, and tries to punch her. Buffy grabs it's arm, and flips it onto its back, then stakes it.)

BUFFY: God this feels good. After so long.

(The last two vampires rush the two Slayers. Buffy throws her stake, and dusts a vampire, and Kendra grapples with hers before staking it,)

BUFFY: So much for the sealing away of demonkind.

(Fade to commercial)

(Scene: Buffy's room. Kendra is lying on a sleeping bag on the floor by the bed, asleep. Buffy is in the bed, and she twists and turns as she has nightmares.)

(Cut to Buffy's dream. She's laying on a red velvet hassock. Candles are everywhere, and a few dead bodies lie around the room. The camera's pan over their faces. Faith, Merrick, Jenny Calender, and Pike.)

LOTHOS: You really thought you could destroy me.

(He appears, floating in mid-air.)

LOTHOS: But you're just like all the others. Pathetic.

(He floats to the ground, and kneels next to the hassock. Cut to Buffy's eyes. They're desperate, and afraid.)

LOTHOS: (Hisses in her ear.) I'll destroy you. Utterly.

(He lowers his neck to her throat.)

(FLASH)

(Scene: Buffy's room. Kendra is trying to wake Buffy up. Buffy wakes up, and sits bolt upright.)

BUFFY: Oh god.

(To be continued in: Future's Past)
