Home Again: 2

by Spikes Queen

Buffy sighed and looked at Spike who was shaking slightly. “You okay?” She asked, going toward him.

“Not really,” Spike said, softly.

Buffy sat on her couch and rubbed her temples. “Spike, this is a lot for me to take in,” she said. “You were dead. I left you in the hell mouth and Sunnydale collapsed on you.”

“I got trapped in the amulet,” Spike said, sitting next to her. “And Angel released me. But I was stuck. I couldn’t leave L.A. I wanted to but I couldn’t.”

“But you can now,” Buffy said, softly.

“Angel wouldn’t tell me where you were,” Spike said, turning toward her. “I wanted to see you and make sure you were okay, to let you know I was ok.”

“You’re not,” Buffy said. “You’ve been with Angel for got knows how long and that wasn’t fun.”

“He did everything to keep me from you,” Spike said.

“He cant now,” Buffy said. “You’re here now and I know it. I don’t intend to let you leave either.”

“Buffy, what about the immortal?” Spike asked. “Andrew said there was snuggling.”

“I just needed someone to pass the time with,” she said. “It wasn’t that serious.”

Spike visibly relaxed next to her. “That’s good,” he said.

“So you’re gunna stay?” Buffy asked.

“I might have to go back to L.A.,” Spike said, regretfully. “Something big is going down and I have to be there.”

“Something big like what?” Buffy asked.

“Apocalypse,” Spike said. “The biggest.”

“You could die,” Buffy whispered.

“I know,” Spike said, softly.

“I don’t wanna lose you again,” she whispered, tears in her eyes.

“Buffy,” Spike said, reaching for her.

“No!” Buffy flared, moving away from him. “You cant do this to me. I just got you back and you’re gunna leave again? I might never see you again.”

“You think I don’t know that?” Spike asked, standing up. “I know I could die. Whaddaya want me to do? Leave them? I’m the best fighter they have and you know it.”

“And what about me?” Buffy asked, softly. “What about how much you mean to me?”

“Buffy,” Spike said, going toward her. “I don’t wanna leave you again. I don’t. You know how much love you, but you know I don’t abandon anyone.”

“I can help,” Buffy said, softly. “All the slayers and Willow.”

“I don’t wanna put you in danger,” Spike said, wiping her tears gently. “I wanna concentrate on fighting and not worrying about losing you.”

“I cant stand here and do nothing,” Buffy whispered. “Not while the man I love is n danger. You know me better then that.”

“Buffy, I’m not gunna argue with you,” Spike said. “But I just found you and I don’t wanna lose you.”

“You think I wanna lose you?!” Buffy yelled, tears sliding down her face.

Spike frowned and wiped her tears. “We’ll figure something out,” he said. “Don’t worry.”

“I’ll find a way to keep you safe,” Buffy whispered. “I promise.”

“Well promise me you wont come to L.A.,” Spike said. “If I know you’re safe, I’ll be safer.”

“I’ll stay here,” Buffy said, sniffling. “How long before you have to go back?”

“Probably tomorrow,” Spike said, softly.

“Tomorrow?” Buffy whispered. “There’s like no time.”

“I know,” Spike said.

Buffy whimpered a little before kissing him tenderly.

Spike pulled her into his arms and deepened their kiss. He felt more tears come out of her eyes and his heart broke a little more. “It’s okay,” he said. “We have tonight.”

Buffy nodded and wrapped her arms around him. “I love you,” she whispered. “I love you so much.”

“I love you too,” Spike said, into her ear. “I’ll never stop.”

Buffy nodded against him and swallowed her tears. “I don’t wanna lose you,” she whispered.

“Lets not worry about it now,” Spike said, pulling back to kiss her again.

Buffy pulled away and took his hand, leading him to the bedroom.

Spike paused and looked at her once she closed and locked the door. “What are you doing?” He asked.

“Something that I’ve been wanting to do for a long time,” Buffy said, walking up to him. “Do you think Angel will interrupt?”

“The Rome office will keep him busy,” Spike said. “How about the Immortal?”

“I’m not sure,” Buffy said. “He might call.”

“And what are you going to tell him?” Spike asked.

“The truth,” Buffy said, sitting on her bed.

“And what is the truth?” Spike asked.

“You’ll have to come over and find out,” Buffy teased.

Spike smiled and walked over to the bed. “You know, don’t you think we should slow down?” He asked.

“I don’t think we’re going fast enough,” Buffy whispered, pulling his lips down to hers.

Spike rolled them so she was on top and cradled her face in his hands. He smiled at her and wiped her tears. “There’s so much that I wanna tell you,” he whispered.

“When you come home safe and sound, you can tell me anything,” she whispered. “Tonight, I just wanna love you.”

“What about Dawn?” Spike asked.

“She’ll be home late, and if she finds out you’re back, she’ll go crazy,” Buffy said. “Even more so when she finds out you’re leaving, she’ll be devastated. So I don’t want her to know that you’re back until after the fight.”

“What if I don’t make it?” Spike asked.

“Then I wont tell her at all,” Buffy said, moving to the side of him. “She’ll hate me forever if she knows you were alive again and I kept it from her.”

“Well, I’ll explain it to her,” Spike said. “One way or another, I’ll help her understand.”

Buffy smiled. “Good, because she’d wanna hear it from you,” she said. “And I hope its in person.”

“I’ll fight so hard to come back,” Spike said.

“Can you not Angel get to you?” Buffy asked. “Just ignore him.”

Spike nodded. “I promise,” he whispered.

The next morning, at the Wolfram and Hart airport, Buffy was there with Spike.

“I love you,” she whispered, holding her tears at bay.

I know,” Spike said, his arms around her waist. “I love you too.”

“You have to come home,” Buffy said, holding his face in her hands. “You just have to.”

“I’ll try,” Spike said. “I’ll try. Just promise you wont follow me.”

Buffy bit her lip not sure if she wanted to promise that.

“Buffy,” he pleaded. “Please, promise me.”

Buffy sighed. “I promise,” she said. “I wont follow you but I will protect you.”

Spike kissed her forehead. “I have to go, Pet,” he said, softly.

Buffy nodded. “I love you,” she whispered.

“I love you too,” Spike said, softly.

Their lips met in a loving kiss before Spike reluctantly pulled away. “I have to go,” he said, gently pulling away from her embrace.

Buffy nodded and held on to his hand longingly. “Bye,” she whispered, squeezing his hand before letting go.

“Bye, Buffy,” Spike said, reluctantly getting on the plane.
