In the morning, Kary peeked in her parents room. “Mommy? Daddy?” She asked.

Spike’s eyes fluttered open and he smiled at his daughter. Carefully, he slid from Buffy’s arms and left the room with his little girl.

“Daddy, did you find out why Mommy was mad?” Kary asked.

“Yes, I did, Baby,” Spike said, scooping her up.

“Can you tell me?” Kary asked, as Spike set her on the counter in the kitchen.

“We’ll tell you together,” Buffy said, coming into the room.

Spike smiled as Buffy came over to them.

Buffy smiled at her daughter. “How would you feel if Mommy had a baby?” She asked.

Kary looked at her dad. “A baby?”

Spike smiled at her. “Yeah. A younger brother or sister,” he said. “You don’t have to be the baby anymore.”

“But I like being the baby,” Kary said.

Spike kissed his daughter’s forehead tenderly. “You’ll love being the oldest,” he said. “I have to go to work, but I’ll see my two girls later.”

Kary smiled. “Bye Daddy,” she said, wrapping her arms around his neck.

Spike smiled and stood up. “Be good for Mommy,” he said, setting her down.

Buffy smiled and went with Spike to the door. “Are you mad at me?” She asked.

“No, I was upset that you didn’t trust me enough to tell me,” Spike said. “But we’re going to have a baby so how mad could I be?”

Buffy kissed him lightly. “I’ll see you when you get home from work,” she said.

Spike smiled and left.
