Buffy clutched the amulet and went inside. She opened the basement door and descended the stairs to find Spike sitting on the cot patiently.

“Where’s Peaches?” Spike asked.

“I sent him to L.A.,” Buffy said, taking off her jacket. She went over and sat next to him. “I told him that you had a soul and I care about you. He understood where my heart is and now you need to understand.”

Spike looked at her with curiosity. “Just tell me and I’ll understand,” he said.

Buffy handed him the amulet. “You’re my champion and you have been for the past couple of years. I don’t know if we’re both gunna make it through the battle but I few do, I wanna try again. Can we do that?” Buffy asked, softly.

Spike smiled at her. “Yeah, we can do that,” he said.

Buffy smiled at him. “Did you read my letter?” She asked.

“Yeah,” Spike answered.

“Good because its hard for me to tell you stuff. It’s easier just to write them,” Buffy said. “Spike, last night was very emotional for me. I have no idea how I found the courage to ask you to stay. But I’m glad I did. First time in a long time that I slept comfortably.” She looked down at her hands. “Do you think we could do it again?” She whispered, trying to hide her shyness.

Spike had to smile at her shyness and he set the amulet on the shelf. “Do I have to give my speech again?” He teased.

Buffy looked at him and smiled. “Only if you want to but it doesn’t have the same affect like last night. Besides, I’m not giving up like last night so I don’t need encouragement.”

“You’re not giving up ever,” Spike said, softly.

“Was that a ‘yes’?” Buffy asked. “Because I don’t know if I’ll ever allow you to sleep alone again.”

“That a promise?” Spike asked, hopefully.

“Definitely,” Buffy said, leaning toward his lips.

“Then I’m pretty sure that was a yes,” Spike said, as their lips touched.

Buffy pushed Spike down on his back without breaking the kiss. “Spike, I love you,” she whispered.

“I love you too,” Spike whispered.
