Death May Bring Love: 2
by Spikes Queen
Later that night, Buffy woke, sweating. Spike was awake and running a cool hand over her forehead.
“Spike,” she moaned.
Spike kissed her forehead. “Just relax and try to go back to sleep,” he whispered.
“Spike, I cant do this anymore. It hurts too much,” she whispered, as tears slid down her cheeks. “Everything hurts.”
Spike frowned and looked down at her. “What do you want me to do?” He asked.
“I want to get away,” Buffy said, looking up at him. “For awhile. You and me. To have a break.”
Spike nuzzled his nose against hers. “You sure pet?” He asked.
“Yeah. I need to get out of Sunnydale for a while and I want you to go with me,” she said, running her fingers over his cheek bones.
“Ok,” Spike said, easing out of the bed. “I just have to grab a few things. I’ll be back,” he said pulling on his shirt and boots.
“Promise you’ll come back?” Buffy asked, getting out of bed.
Spike stood up and cradled her cheek. “I’ll be back,” he said, kissing her forehead softly.
Buffy held his hand to keep him with her for a minute. “Spike?”
Spike turned back around and moved closer to her. “Yeah?” He asked.
Buffy leaned up and kissed him gently. “Thank you,” she whispered.
Spike ran his thumbs over her cheeks and smiled before leaving.
Buffy began packing, not sure how long she’d be gone. She grabbed a picture of her mom and Dawn and headed downstairs.
“Buffy?” Came Giles’ voice from the kitchen.
Buffy set her bag on the coffee table as she opened the weapons chest. “Giles.”
“Where are you going?” Giles asked, coming into the living room with Willow and Angel.
Buffy turned her grief stricken face toward them. “Spike’s taking me away from Sunnydale. Giles I need to get back on my feet and I really need to do it away from Sunnydale. Away from her memories,” she whispered.
“Buffy, you cant leave,” Angel said.
Buffy turned to face him. “I have to,” she whispered.
“Not with Spike,” Angel growled.
Buffy was not in the mood to deal with Angel right now. “Yes with Spike. We’ll be back then we’ll make plans. I need to leave with him,” she said.
“Okay,” Giles said, glaring at Angel. “We understand. Just be careful.”
Spike came through the front door. “Ready to go, Pet?” He asked, not caring that Angel was about ready to stake him.
Buffy smiled and grabbed the keys to her mom’s SUV. “Yeah. I’ll call to check in,” she said, tossing the keys to Spike. “You drive.”
“Yes I will,” Spike said, taking her bag and opening the door for her.
Buffy and Spike climbed into the SUV and pulled out of the driveway. “Where to Pet?” Spike asked.
“Don’t care. Just somewhere private,” Buffy said. “I’ve got enough cash for a few weeks.”
“Okay,” Spike said, and headed out of Sunnydale.
