With You My Love: 4

by Neamh1

The song Buffy and Liam dance to is Kelly Clarkson, The Trouble with Love is.

Everyone started to get ready around five o’clock as they had reservations for 7pm. Buffy helped Mel do her hair and makeup and Mel did the same for her after they had showered. When Liam and Riley were ready they were sent down stairs to wait whilst Buffy and Mel dressed in private.
Liam had chosen to wear his black trouser suit with a white shirt which Buffy had brought him, he’d also put on a matching black tie which he kept fiddling with every five seconds whilst he was waiting for Buffy and Mel to come down.
Ten minutes later Mel descended the stairs and the look of pride in her brothers was matched only by the look in Riley’s eyes. She approached him and gave him a small kiss as he told her how beautiful she looked. “Buffy’s on her way.” She said to Liam.
Sure enough a few seconds later she appeared at the top of the stairs and came down to meet Liam, he smiled as she got closer.
With Mel’s help Buffy had put her hair into soft curls and then tied together two pieces from either side to keep her hair out of her face, it flowed down to her mid back freely, shinning with health and beauty. She had chosen some simple diamond earrings and necklace to match the diamonds sparkling in the dress and some matching green satin shoes with a slight heel.
“Your stunning.” Was all Liam could say when she finally reached his arms. He was in awe of the beauty smiling back at him, she was so radiant and her eyes sparkled with the love she felt for him. Liam felt his heart swell as it filled with the happiness she brought about in him, he knew that she was one for him, he’d known it for a long time now, but seeing her like this tonight made everything crystal clear. He’d decided he couldn’t wait any longer to have her forever.
“Okay, let’s get going…oh Mel, Buffy, you two look beautiful!” exclaimed Mrs O’Connor as she approached all the children with her husband at her side, interrupting the romantic moment between the couples.
They all left the house as they headed out to their cars, and started their engines following each other out of the street and into the town.
They were seated as soon as they entered the restaurant, it was very busy and they were lucky that they had made reservations. There were a few people dancing on the dance floor which was opposite the dinning area; the music was soft and low being played by a small group of men with various instruments and a lady singing to the different pieces of music.
Everyone took their seats and made their orders with the waiter, the meals were served shortly after and when everyone had finished a few people took to the dance floor, Liam and Buffy included.
They danced slowly to two songs and when the second song was about to finish Liam stopped dancing.
“Wait here for me?” he said to Buffy and she nodded giving him a curios look. Liam left her and went over to the band and spoke briefly to the lady who was singing. After a few moments he returned to Buffy.
“Ladies and Gentleman, I’ve had a special request tonight…Could everyone please clear the dance floor for this one special song which is dedicated to Buffy Summers.” The lady spoke from the mike.
Everyone else vacated the floor leaving Buffy and Liam alone, as the music began up again Buffy moved into Liam’s arms and they danced slowly together as everyone watched.

Love can be a many splendored thing
Can't deny the joy it brings
A dozen roses
Diamond rings
Dreams for sale
And fairy tales
It’ll make you hear a symphony
And you just want the world to see
But like a drug that makes you blind
It’ll fool you every time

The trouble with love is
It can tear you up inside
Make your heart believe a lie
It's stronger then your pride
The trouble with love is
It doesn’t care how fast you fall
And you can’t refuse the call
See you’ve got no say at all

“I love this song.” Buffy said looking up into his eyes.
“I know you do, I chose it especially for us, it makes me think of you and the way I feel.” Liam said and kissed her softly.
She placed her head back under his chin to rest in its rightful place as he glided her around the floor to the steady rhythm.

Now I was a once a fool it’s true
I played the game by all the rules
But now my world’s a deeper blue
I’m sadder but I’m wiser too
I swore I’d never love again
I swore my heart would never mend
Said love wasn’t worth the pain
But then I hear it call my name

The trouble with love is
It can tear you up inside
Make your heart believe a lie
It's stronger then your pride
The trouble with love is
It doesn’t care how fast you fall
And you can’t refuse the call
See you’ve got no say at all

“I love you so much, you’re the most thoughtful person I’ve ever known, you make me happier than I’ve ever been before in my life.” Buffy said as she listened to the lyrics.
“I feel the same way; I hate to think where I would be now if you hadn’t come into my life when you did. I’d be lost if you ever left me.” He said, a lump rising in his throat at the thought.
“I’ll never leave you Liam.” She whispered

Every time I turn around
I think I’ve got it all figured out
My heart keeps callin
And I keep on fallin
Over and over again
This sad story always ends the same
Me standin' in the pouring rain
It seems no matter what I do
It tears my heart in two

The trouble with love is (the trouble with love)
It can tear you up inside (it can tear you up inside)
Make your heart believe a lie (Make your heart believe a lie)
It's stronger than your pride
(The trouble with love is) It's in your heart it's in your soul
(It doesn't care how fast you fall) You're losing all control
(And you can’t refuse the call)
So you’ve got no say at all
The trouble with love is (Oooo….ya)
It can tear you up inside
Make your heart believe a lie (the trouble with love..)

When the last words to the song were heard Liam stopped dancing and took Buffy’s hands into his own, the musicians faded out the music as he began to speak and it seemed that everyone in the restaurant was silent, curious to hear what he would say.
“Buffy, you came into my life so recently but I feel you’ve been a part of me forever, it took me too long to find you…I never want to let you go. I want to spend the rest of my life with you and I want to share everything I have with you.” He lowered himself down on to one knee in front of her and pulled out a small box from his pocket opening it for her to see. “Buffy Summers, I love you, will you marry me?” he asked looking deep into her eyes.
A single tear rolled down her cheek as she smiled and nodded. “Yes…yes I will, I love you too.” She said and he smiled, pacing the ring on her finger and kissing it when it was settled. Everyone applauded the couple as Liam stood up and gave her a hug and kiss and the family approached offering their congratulations as the music started up again.
They spent the remainder of the night celebrating Buffy and Liam’s engagement and all returned home late to get a couple of hours sleep before Christmas morning came around. At least that’s what Buffy and Liam had intended on doing, however their soft goodnight kiss had spiralled out of control and kept them up for a few more hours as they made love to each other, celebrating their future as a couple.

Christmas morning came around all too soon and although everyone was still tired from the night before they gathered at 7am to open their gifts together. The children were given their gifts first from everyone to keep them quiet whilst the grownups handed out the numerous presents that belonged to each other.
Whilst everyone was opening their gifts Buffy and Liam were happy to simply cuddle together on the love chair and watch everyone. It wasn’t until nearly all of the gifts had been opened and Mel caught the two lovebirds lip locked that they were disturbed.
“Look, I know you two just got engaged and it’s so sweet how you’re all touchy feely cuddly but come on, put some effort into it. Its Christmas morning and you both have huge piles of gifts and you haven’t touched one!” Mel exclaimed as everyone sat snickering at them.
“I don’t need presents when I have this beautiful woman here to keep me occupied.” Liam said kissing Buffy’s cheek.
Mel made a gagging sound and everyone began laughing, Buffy reluctantly pulled away from Liam to collect one of the presents which she had brought for him. She passed it to him and he began unwrapping it, Liam opened the black velvet box to reveal a stunning white gold chain bracelet, it had a small tag attached to it with the words ‘my love forever’ engraved on it and on the other side his and Buffy’s initial’s. “Buffy…it love it.” He said kissing her and passing her one of her gifts. She opened the envelope and pulled out the paper that was inside, it was a voucher for a day at Golden Door Spa in California. “It’s a spa especially for women; I managed to get you an annual pass so you can go any time for as long as you want. I want to pamper you…” Liam said as she looked at the voucher and the leaflet that came with it.
“Thank you…this is so thoughtful.” She said and kissed him. They continued exchanging gifts and when they had opened all of theirs Liam got up pulling Buffy with him and led his parents out to the garage. He opened the garage door to reveal the brand new people carrier which he Angelus and Buffy had brought for his parents. After about ten minutes of his parents saying that it was too much they finally agreed to accept the car, to be honest Mr O’Connor couldn’t refuse it. He fell in love with the car and actually stayed in the garage with it for half an hour after everyone else had gone back indoors.
Buffy called her parents after breakfast to wish them a Merry Christmas but decided not to tell them about her and Liam getting engaged until she saw them at the weekend. They spent the remainder of the week at the house with the rest of the family, Buffy wanted to get to know Liam’s family so she spent as much time as possible with Lisa and Greg and the children. Liam made an effort to try and get to know Riley better for his sister’s sake but really all he did was try to get Buffy to himself.

The weekend came around soon and Buffy and Liam said their goodbyes at the house and Liam drove them back to the airport to get on their plane.
“Alone at last.” Liam said, pulling Buffy into his arms before she could sit down on the sofa. “I need you.” Were his last breathless words before he picked her up into his arms and carried her through to the bedroom. They didn’t come out until the pilot announced they were about to land and they had to tear themselves from each others embrace.
Getting off the plane and travelling to the Summer’s residence didn’t take long and before they knew it they were parking the car outside Buffy’s parents house. Rupert and Joyce came to help them with their luggage and lead them into the house.
“Where are we staying mom?” Buffy asked as they carried the luggage up the stairs.
“I’ve put you both in your old room, we got rid of your old bed and got a double and converted the room into a guest room. All your old things are still in there though so don’t worry dear.” Joyce said as she opened the door for them. “I’ll let you two get settled in, come down when you’re ready. Willow called and wants to know if you’re going to drop by today, I told her you would call.”
“Thanks mom.” She said as she flopped down on the bed. Once Joyce had left the room Liam joined her on the bed, neither moved or spoke for some time. “I’m so tired; I want to be at home tucked up in our bed fast asleep.”
“Mmm…sounds good, can we do that now please.” Liam answered.
“Sorry honey, but I can guarantee that any minute now mom will be shouting us to see what’s taking so long. We’d better get a move on.” She said and patted his leg as she stood up and turned around to help him up but instead of her pulling him up he pulled her down on top of him. “Let’s just stay here like this and rest for an hour or so…” Liam suggested as he snuggled up tight against her neck, taking in the sweet vanilla scent that was uniquely Buffy.
“Buffy…Liam, are two coming down?” they both heard Joyce shout from the bottom of the stairs. The pair laughed as they got up from the bed and headed out of the bedroom and down the stairs. Rupert and Joyce were sitting in the living room waiting for them and as they walked into the room hand in hand Joyce caught sight of something sparkling on Buffy’s left hand.
“Oh my god!” she exclaimed, standing up from her seat and taking Buffy’s hand in hers.
“Mom, dad, we’re getting married.” Buffy said happily before her mother pulled her into her embrace for a long hug.
“Oh honey, congratulations.” Said Joyce as she let go of Buffy and turned to give Liam a hug too.
“Yes, congratulations to the both of you.” Rupert said, shaking Liam’s hand and giving Buffy a kiss on the cheek.
“So, have you set a date? Are you having a big wedding, oh you have to. When did you propose, that ring is gorgeous, where did you get it? We have to start looking for a dress…” Joyce’s words streamed out and as she got up and began pacing Buffy took hold of her arms and brought her back to sit on the sofa.
“Mom, calm down, you haven’t even given us chance to answer one question. We got engaged on Christmas Eve, Liam was really romantic and played my favourite song in this restaurant after our meal and we were dancing alone and then he proposed…” she trailed off going into a dreamlike state remembering the words he had said to her and the way he’d made her feel so loved an desired.
“We haven’t really set a date yet but we’ve been talking about it and we would both like to be married soon, and in the summer. We’re going to have the wedding somewhere private, we don’t want to attract a lot of media attention, we’ve been lucky so far that they’ve basically left us alone but something like this could get out of hand.” Liam said.
“That’s why we’re only telling close friends and relatives don’t go around telling everyone you know, otherwise we won’t get a moments peace. Promise us?” Buffy finished looking at both her mom and Rupert.
“Of course dear, anything you want, just as long as you promise to let us help okay? I know how stressful planning a wedding can be so I want to help take some of that stress from you.” Joyce replied smiling to her daughter.
“Have you two had lunch yet? I could make you both something if you’d like?” Joyce asked but Buffy stood pulling Liam to her feet with her.
“Actually if you don’t mind, I’d kind of like to go and have a drive around; it’s been a while since I was last here. I think I fancy going to the coffee house and grabbing some lunch there, that’s if you guys don’t mind?” Buffy said.
“Of course not honey, we’ve got all week to spend with you. Are you going to call Willow before you go out?”
“No it’s okay, we’ll drop by after lunch and see her and Tara, and then I’ll go and see Anya and Xander tomorrow. “ She said as they said their goodbyes and left the house, Buffy pulling Liam out with her.
The got in the car and drove to the coffee house and grabbed some lunch before going over to visit Willow and Tara. They didn’t stay long, just long enough to pass on their good news and see how the couple were doing.
Willow was shocked but happy for them when they announced their engagement, to tell the truth she was sort of jealous. Whilst Buffy was there she had asked Willow to be her maid of honour when they got married. She had spoken to Liam about it on the plane between their lovemaking and he had told her that she could choose anyone she wanted to be the maid of honour and she could have any type of wedding as long as he got to choose the honeymoon destination and arrange it. They had agreed that it would be somewhere hot and tropical but he could chose the destination and Buffy would arrange the wedding with his help.
After leaving Willow’s Buffy made Liam stop on the way to pick up some wedding magazines from a local newsagents.
“Baby, you don’t need magazines, we’ll get a stylist to do your dress, and actually I already had one in mind, I called him and asked him to meet us back at home on the Monday after work. I hope you don’t mind, but he’s an old friend and does brilliant work, he design’s all types of clothes.” Liam said stopping her from exciting the car by taking her arm.
“Of course I don’t mind…but I still need these magazines to get an idea of colours and style, I’ve never done anything like this before and I have no idea what I want.”
“I should hope you’ve never done anything like this before.” Liam replied, his brows furrowing in the most adorable way, the way they did every time he had jealous thoughts running through his head.
Buffy kissed him soundly on the lips before jumping out of the car. “You’re so cute when you’re jealous, I’ll be right back.” She said and shut the door.
“I’m not cute…and I’m not jealous!” she heard him shout to her as she entered the shop laughing at him.
Buffy made quick work inside the shop of picking out the bridal magazines, she was so focused on what she was doing she failed to see the person who she nearly knocked over as she moved to reach for another book.
“Oh god, I’m so sorry.” She said standing up and looking straight into the eyes of Parker Abraham’s.
“That’s okay, wow…you look great Buffy, I’ve been watching your show, I never knew you wanted to be an actress.” He said.
Buffy didn’t know whether she wanted to punch him in the face or turn and run, she hadn’t seen Parker since college and she had really hoped that she would never have to see him again.
Liam watched from the car as Buffy nearly knocked someone over, he then watched closely as the boy started to talk to her as though he knew he which was most likely the situation given that she used to live in the small town.
“Parker.” Was all she managed to say in a way of reply as she moved to the side to try and pass him heading for the cashiers desk. Parker moved as well blocking her path and taking hold of her arm.
“I was wondering if maybe you would like to go out for dinner whilst you’re in town, you know, catch up on old times. After all it’s been a long…long time.” He said, eyes raking over her body in an appreciative way.
Buffy was about ready to punch him in the face and wipe away that smug smile when she felt two familiar arms wrap around her waist from behind.
“Hey baby, you got what you were after?” Liam said wrapping his arms around her waist, the moment he had seen the boy take hold of her arm he was out of the car.
“Yeah, I just picked up four, which should be enough.” She said. “Parker, I’m sure you know Liam.” Buffy said turning her head slightly to give him a kiss. Liam scowled at the boy after hearing Buffy call him by his name. She had confided in him about what had transpired between her and Parker in college and Liam could now put a face to the name.
“Yeah, pleased to meet you. So you’re Buffy’s boyfriend?” Parker said, hoping that the man was just an extremely close friend.
“Fiancée actually, so you’re the jerk who messed with my girl in college huh? I can’t believe she gave you time of day.” Liam said pulling Buffy with him to the cashier leaving Parker staring at their backs as they paid and then left the shop.
Buffy was quiet on the way back to the house and as Liam pulled up the driveway he stopped her from getting out of the car.
“What’s wrong? Was it me, did you not want me to say anything?” he asked as she turned to face him.
“No…I mean, it’s not you. It was just seeing him again brought back all those feelings, you know? Insecurity, anger, pain…why didn’t he want me, was there something wrong with me?” she asked, her eyes brimming with tears ready to fall at any moment.
Liam placed his hand on her cheek gently stroking her soft skin, “You are perfect…Parker was a stupid school boy who couldn’t imagine the depths of a woman like you. He was an idiot to let you go but I’m glad he did.” Liam said, Buffy looked at him confused and saw his lips curve in a smile “because if he hadn’t I might never have found you and the thought of not having you in my life tear’s me up inside. Besides, I think he realised his mistake when he saw you, I saw the way he practically undressed you with his eyes…” Liam didn’t like what he had seen in Parkers eyes, he growled unconsciously at just the thought of the boy looking at his Buffy in that way.
She smiled softly as she saw the emotions running away with him again, she loved the way he got jealous and so protective of her. He made her feel so loved and beautiful. “Well…who cares about Parker Abraham’s? I don’t, and anyway, there’s only one man I want undressing me with his eyes.” She smiled mischievously to him.
“Really, who would that be? Do I know him?” he asked playing along.
“Nope” Buffy said laughing and jumping out of the car quickly at the look on Liam’s face. He got out and chased her up the path and into the house where Joyce and Rupert laughed as Liam tried to find Buffy who had hidden in the living room. Joyce quietly directed Liam to the living room and as he walked in she ran out from behind the door and up the stairs, Liam close behind taking two steps at a time.
“Young love!” said Joyce as they listened to the sounds of Buffy and Liam laughing up in their room. They were so happy for their daughter and decided that they would go out the next day to get them an engagement present.

New Year came and went quickly, Buffy and Liam were now back at work trying to get a head of schedule so that they could take some time off for their wedding and honeymoon. Things hadn’t been going so smoothly for the couple lately, as soon as they returned from Sunnydale they were bombarded by the press attempting to get details on their upcoming wedding. It seemed that someone had heard their good news and contacted the press. Buffy was getting extremely annoyed with the constant pestering that the media were giving her and Liam and she was also none too happy with the nasty threats she’d been receiving from some of the fans who said they were in love with Liam and she should stay clear. Not one to be bullied she tried to ignore the threats but neither of them could deny that it was putting a strain on the relationship. Whenever they were out in public they had to wear disguises and Buffy would never seem to let Liam get too close to her in case someone was watching. Angelus had returned from his parents and Liam had managed to get him a job at the studio helping Wesley with certain business deals which it turned out that he had a knack for. Angelus knew how they had been struggling after the show became so popular and often went out to public places attracting the press whilst Liam and Buffy sneaked off to somewhere quiet and deserted. The two rarely spent much time together lately and they still hadn’t managed to set a date for the wedding.
It was the 2nd February and Liam finished work early that day, Buffy was still there finishing up some other shots, he headed straight home and pulled up in his drive way, Angelus’ car wasn’t there but someone else’ was. He got out and went to see who it was, as he got to the door of the car it opened and out stepped Darla. Liam groaned inwardly at the sight of the woman, she was the last person he wanted to see and he wished he stayed behind at work and waited for Buffy.
“Liam, hi.” She said following him up the steps to the front door as he walked briskly away from her.
“What do you want Darla, I’m really not in the mood so make it quick.” He said and opened the door.
“Actually, I was wondering if I could come and speak with you, it’s really important and I promise I’m not here to make trouble.” She said, Liam turned around and looked at her hard, not sure whether or not he should trust her. Deciding to give her the benefit of the doubt he let her in after himself and followed her into the living room sitting down on one of the chairs. Darla sat on the sofa facing him and smiled nervously, it had been a while since she’d seen or spoke with him and although she might not know him well anymore she could tell that he wasn’t too good at the time.
“You don’t look too well, Liam. How are you doing?” she asked, genuinely concerned for him.
“Look, I don’t want to talk about me, just say what you have to so you can leave.” He said, not willing to talk about how he was feeling with someone who he didn’t consider a part of his life anymore.
“Okay, I guess I’m really here to say that I’m sorry for what happened between us, I was hurting at the time and I did and said some horrible things to both you and Buffy that I shouldn’t have. I’m trying to turn my life around and to do that I need to make amends for things I’ve done in my past. I figured that you definitely deserved an apology…” she was cut off by Liam
“What? So this is supposed to make everything okay between us? You think sorry is going to justify the way you acted and for that matter the way you treated me whilst we were together, cause it’s not, I’m not sure that anything can.” He replied
“I don’t expect everything to be okay between us Liam; I just wanted to let you know how sorry I am and that if you’ll let me, I want to try and make it up to you. I’d like to hope that maybe one day we can be friends again?” she asked with the smallest amount of hope. Liam sighed deeply not sure whether this was more trouble than it was worth but he and Darla had a history together and he hadn’t been an angel when Buffy turned up so he figured he owed it to Darla to give her a chance.
“All right Darla, apology accepted.” He said, seeing the smile light her face he quickly added, “This doesn’t mean that we’re friends or ever will be again. All it means is that I’ll I’m willing to make the effort to forgive you, but if you step one foot out of place I’ll turn from you and never look back again. Are we clear?” He asked. Darla nodded her head and stood up from the couch. Liam walked her to the door but before he could open it, it swung open revealing Buffy.
Buffy couldn’t move from her spot in the door way, she was completely shocked to open the door and find Darla standing inside her house with Liam. Red hot jealousy ran through her body, she could feel the blood and adrenaline racing through her veins as she stepped into the house and closed the door behind her, blocking the escape route for Darla until she had found out what was going on. Liam could see the fire burning through her, the pure rage in her eyes scared him a little and he wasn’t sure whether he should run for the hills or stand between the two women to prevent any fighting, either way this wasn’t going to end well.
“What the hell are you doing in our home?” she said, Darla couldn’t have missed the seething tone of her voice if she had been deaf.
“She came to apologise…” Liam answered but was quickly cut off by Buffy.
“I didn’t ask you, I asked her, now answer me before I start to get testy.” She said directing her question to Darla again.
“I’m sorry Buffy, I came by to say that I’m sorry, I’ve already apologised to Liam…”
“Yeah I bet you did, what did you do, throw you’re knickers at him and asked him to have them as a make up present?” she asked sarcastically. Buffy couldn’t hold back any longer, she’d had a terrible day at work, she was feeling awful, her life was falling apart around her and now she had to deal with Darla on top of everything else. “This is the lamest idea you’ve ever come up with, sorry? You don’t know the meaning of the word, you’re just trying to manipulate you’re way back into our lives as a permanent wedge between me and Liam and I’m not going to let that happen.” She started to advance on Darla who began to back up slowly.
“Buffy, I came to say I’m sorry, I’m trying to make things better but if you start attacking me I swear I won’t stand here and let you hurt me.” Darla said; ready to protect herself against the small blonde who was advancing on her.
“Oh, I’m going to do more than hurt you!” Buffy shouted as she began to move more quickly.
Liam had watched the whole exchange, becoming more concerned at every word exchanged between the two. He wasn’t about to stand there whilst they ripped each other to shreds, or more likely Buffy ripping Darla to shreds. “That’s enough!” He shouted, both girls stopped in their tracks and turned to him, neither of them had heard him shout that way before and it shocked and terrified them. “I’ve had enough of this…Darla leave now and I wouldn’t show your face for a while if I were you. Buffy get in the living room now.” He said
“I’m not finished yet.” She said stubbornly.
Outside Angelus heard shouting coming from the house, he quickly ran up the steps and inside, no one noticed that he was there, too busy arguing.
“Yes you are, I’m not going to say this to you again, living room, now.” He stated, Darla made a move to pass Buffy to leave but she quickly side stepped to stop her exit. Angelus moved forward to attempt to diffuse the situation before his brother lost control. He walked forward and took Buffy’s hand pulling her away from Darla and into the living room, Darla headed straight out the door and Liam stood there for a few minutes trying to calm down. When he felt calm enough to deal with her he went in to the living room and found Angelus lighting a fire and Buffy sitting curled up in the chair. He sat down across from her, not knowing where to start he kept quiet for some time before finally speaking. “Buffy…we were only talking, I promise you I would never even think of going behind you’re back.” He said to her.
Looking up with tears in her eyes she said, “I feel like I don’t know you anymore…” her voice broke as the tears flooded from her eyes. Liam quickly moved to kneel in front of her taking her into his arms. Angelus left the two alone and headed up stairs to give them some privacy. “I feel like I lost you and seeing her here…I thought maybe you’d decided that you wanted to be with her after all and…”
“Shh, it’s all right. Buffy I’m with you, I love you and I’m never going to leave you. I want to marry you, to be with you for the rest of my life. I know that things haven’t been easy lately with all the hounding from the press and the threats and stuff. We’ve drifted farther and farther apart and it’s been killing me inside not being able to be close to you. Promise me that we’re gong to be okay, say that you still love me and that you still want to be my wife.” He pleaded with her.
“I do, I love you, more than anything. I don’t want to wait any longer Liam; I want to be your wife now.” She said taking her face away from his shirt and looking him straight in the eyes.
“This weekend? I’ll call everyone and get them here; we’ll get married here at home in the garden, that way no one will know.” He said thinking about the arrangements, “I’ll speak with Terry tomorrow and tell him we’re leaving for our honeymoon next week, okay?” he asked, Liam hadn’t been bothered about the details of the wedding; all he had wanted to do was make her his wife and the sooner the better.
Buffy nodded her head smiling and hugged him tightly, Liam wiped away the tears that were slowly drying on her cheeks and then stood up pulling her with him. Buffy swayed slightly when she stood up feeling dizzy, being concerned Liam urged her to sit back down in the chair and went to get her a glass of water.
“Are you all right? I’ve noticed you’ve lost a lot of weight recently, you haven’t been eating properly.” He stated, checking her over.
“I’m fine, just all the excitement is all and there’s nothing wrong with losing a bit of weight.” She sated checking herself out too.
“There is when it’s making you have dizzy spells and you’re always tired, I’ve noticed how you’re always falling asleep earlier lately. I think you should go to the doctors and have check up.” He said brushing her hair out of her eyes.
“No, I’m fine. All I need is a good meal and some TCL, I just need to find someone nice enough to provide me with both.” She said teasingly.
“I think that maybe I can handle that, you sit and relax, I’ll shout you when it’s ready.” He said kissing her forehead and heading into the kitchen. Buffy wouldn’t have admitted it to him but she really didn’t feel well, she’d been having dizzy spells often lately. She’d actually fainted at work a week ago and had been found by Jess, she knew it was unfair to Jess but she had made her promise not to tell anyone about it. Knowing that Liam would go on overdrive if he found out, Jess had kept her word and no one was the wiser.
She could hear Liam pottering around in the kitchen and decided to head upstairs and change into her pyjamas which would be way more comfy. Standing up slowly she still felt dizzy and made sure to hold tightly to the banister as she climbed the stairs, she was almost to the top when a wave of nausea and dizziness washed over her. Her hand slipped from the railing and she attempted to reach out and grip it again but missed, she lost her footing on the stairs and felt herself falling. Before she hit the floor darkness claimed her and her limp body tumbled down the stairs.
Angelus stood at the top of the stairs attempting to listen and see if Buffy and Liam were still arguing or not, he could here faint sounds coming from the kitchen and the TV playing in the living, as he turned the corner to head down the stairs he was just in time to see Buffy loose her footing and fall. Racing down the stairs and shouting his brother’s name he reached the bottom and checked her over. Liam came running from the kitchen after hearing the noise and his brother’s panicked voice, when he reached him he was checking Buffy over and trying to get her to wake up.
“She won’t wake up, Liam; we’re going to have to take her to the hospital.” Angelus said as his brother knelt down and began checking her over.
“What happened?” Liam asked.
“She was heading up the stairs and I came round the corner and saw her fall.” Angelus said as Liam picked her up into his arms and headed for the door. Angelus grabbed his car keys and opened the door for them, Liam climbed in the back of the car cradling Buffy gently on his knee and Angelus got in the front and drove as fast as possible to the hospital.

Liam was pacing in the waiting room and Angelus was sitting with his head in his hands as they waited to hear from the hospital staff about Buffy’s condition. They had been there for forty five minutes and no one had been to speak with them yet. Liam kept stopping the nurses that passed by but none of them had been able to tell him anything other than the fact that Buffy was being seen by the doctor and someone would be with them shortly.
Ten minutes later a doctor approached them, “Mr O’Connor?” he asked, both Liam and Angelus turned toward him which slightly confused the doctor as he saw the identical twins.
“Buffy…is she okay?” Liam asked.
“I’m Dr Lindsey McDonald, I’ve been with her since she arrived, she’s resting at the moment but I need to speak with you privately if you don’t mind. You’re Liam O’Connor right?” Lindsey said.
“Yes, this is my brother Angelus, she’s going to be okay isn’t she?” he asked again, noting how the doctor was avoiding the question.
“She should be just fine as long as you both do what I say, but I’m not willing to discuss the details here, would you please follow me to my office, after that you can go in and see her for a while.” He said.
Liam nodded to Angelus and followed to doctor from the room, they headed a short way down the corridor being stopped briefly once on the way by a nurse who spoke to the doctor and gave him a clip board with some notes on it for another patient. They entered his office and he indicated for Liam to take a seat. “Now, Buffy has informed me that she’s been having dizzy spells lately and has fainted from them once before.” The doctor began, Liam’s head shot up at the news which he hadn’t been aware of, “She did mention to me that she hadn’t told you because she didn’t want to worry you, for which I’m sure you’ll scold her for later. She has a slight concussion from the fall so I want to keep her in for the night and monitor her, she’s also seriously underweight. I have prescribed some vitamins for her, which should boost her energy levels but you need to make sure that she eats properly from now on. Pregnancy tends to make most women hungrier but with a small number of women it can put them completely off their food which causes problems for both the mother and the baby. Now according to these results she’s around three months pregnant, who has she been seeing for her antenatal appointments?” Lindsey asked as he had been flicking through her notes. When Liam didn’t reply he looked up at the young man who seemed to be in shock. At that moment Lindsey could have kicked himself, he never even considered the possibility that Liam didn’t know, and for that matter he wasn’t completely convinced that Buffy knew herself either. “You…you didn’t know that Buffy was pregnant?” He asked. Liam shook his head, unable to form words at that moment in time. “I’m sorry you had to find out this way, with her being this far along I would have thought you’d both known, I hope this isn’t bad news but if it is termination…” Lindsey didn’t get a chance to finish what he was about to say about aborting the baby.
“We’re not getting rid of it, its great news.” He said, a smile playing at the corner of his lips. The doctor smiled back to him and began discussing the arrangements and terms of Buffy being allowed to return home the next morning. Liam told the doctor that he wanted to break the news to his fiancée and after thanking him and taking the prescription for the various vitamins which Buffy would have to take and some leaflets on pregnancy he headed back to the waiting room.
“Is she all right?” Angelus asked as he saw Liam walking towards him with a huge smile on his face. “You’re really creeping me out right now, what’s with the grin?” he asked his brother.
“I’m going to be a dad.” Liam said in an unrecognisable high pitched voice.
Angelus wasn’t sure what to say so he simply smiled and offered his congratulations. Liam asked him to give him some time to speak with Buffy first and then he’d come and get him. Angelus agreed and watched as his brother headed towards her room.

Liam walked into the hospital room and saw Buffy laying on the bed hooked up to an IV., she had one the hospital’s horrible gowns on and the white sheets made her look incredibly pale. Liam couldn’t remember her ever looking so fragile; all he wanted to do was take her home and keep her safe. He walked up to the side of the bed and hugged her softly, then placed a kiss on her forehead as he pulled back.
“Did you speak with the doctor? I’m sorry I didn’t tell you about fainting at work, I didn’t want you to worry about me, and we were having problems and-”
“Shh love, it’s alright. Just promise me that you’ll never hide anything from me ever again. If you’re not feeling well you need to tell me Buffy, I don’t want this to ever happen again. Okay?” He asked, feeling somewhat contented when she nodded. “There’s something else that I need to tell you.” He said hesitantly, Buffy’s grip tightened on his hand and he smiled looking into her worried eyes. “Its good news baby, I promise. I was speaking to the doctor and he told me the reason why you fainted, you’re pregnant Buffy, we’re going to have a child together.” He said smiling. Buffy sat there letting the news sink in, she tried to remember when she had last had her period and now realised that it had been before Christmas. With all the excitement at work and home and then the problems they had been having all month she’d not given it a thought. “What are you thinking? Are you happy?” she heard Liam ask her, she looked up into his eyes and smiled to him. “I’m happier than I’ve ever been!” she exclaimed pulling him down for a kiss.

Buffy and Liam got married that weekend with a small gathering of family and friends at their home, they announced to the guests during the dinner speeches that they were having a baby much to the excitement of the both their parents. Terry agreed to let them go off on their honey moon for a week and managed to write the pregnancy into the show which delighted Buffy. She worked as close to her due date as Liam would allow her and then had a couple of weeks to herself to rest before their baby was due. The pregnancy had been a good one after the first worry that placed her in hospital, Liam had tended to her every need and made sure that she ate three healthy meals a day and she loved him even more for it.
Darla had been furious when she found out that they had secretly married the weekend after her attempt to bring Liam back into her life. She had stayed far away from the couple after that and had started dating some millionaire in the hopes of attracting some media attention which Liam and Buffy had held since their wedding day. Her career took a long down fall after the birth of their first child due to her obsession in starting rumours about the couple which were complete nonsense.
Angelus and Liam managed to keep a good relationship and Angelus moved into his own place shortly after the wedding to give the newlyweds some private space. He soon started dating a young girl called Carla who had begun working on the set of Angel.

Three Years Later…

It was late on a Sunday afternoon, Buffy was sitting in the garden watching Lily play in her sandbox, she thought about what lay ahead in the future and smiled to herself. Feeling a pair of strong arms circle her shoulders she turned slightly in her chair to greet her husband. “Hey, how are my favourite girls?” he asked, back from his game of golf with some friends. Lily came bounding up the garden and launched herself into her daddies waiting arms placing a kiss on his cheek.
“How was you’re game?” Buffy asked as he sat down across from her cradling the three year old in his lap.
“Good, I missed you two though. I think this time away from work has spoilt me, I’m never gonna want to go back. He said smiling as Lily reached over for her glass and took a sip. Jumping off her fathers knee she headed back down the garden to continue her game, her parents watched her play in silence for some time until Liam felt Buffy take his hand.
“I’m going to go and start the dinner cooking, oh and by the way we’re pregnant again.” She said quickly and ran into the house leaving Liam sitting in the chair staring after her. When the news sunk in a smile appeared on his face and he went in search of his wife, maybe they could celebrate a little before dinner…
