Welcome to Sunnydale: Part Twenty-Five

“They’re here”, Angel said as they stood behind some trees, looking at the factory. “And only four guards”, he noted. “Very sloppy”.

“Okay”, Buffy handed out crosses and stakes to Xander, Willow, Cordelia and Oz. “Angel and I will take out the vamps on guard and when we get inside all I want is for you guys to get Giles and Nikki to safety. No heroics. I mean it”. She pulled the cross-bow out of her bag and began loading it. She aimed it at one of the vamps, shot and the vampire promptly turned to dust.

“Nice shot”, Xander commented as they walked to the door. The three remaining vamps attacked but Angel and Buffy were too quick. In a matter of minutes all that remained of them was their ashes on the ground.

They opened the door and walked into the factory.

Buffy noticed Giles lying on the ground at one end of the room. Oh God, he looks dead. But she didn’t have time to think about that. Spike was kneeling beside Nikki, stroking her cheek with a sharp blade.

“Hello Spike. Mind if we join the party”, Buffy made her way across the room towards Spike. A vampire came up behind her but she lifted her hand and staked him without looking back. She saw Angel and Xander take on a few vampires while the rest of them ran over to where Giles was lying.

“I should have known you’d be here”, Spike untied Nikki and pulled her in front of him. He pushed her head to the side and exposed the delicate flesh of her neck.

“I wouldn’t do that if I were you”, Buffy warned him.

“Well you’re not going to stop me”. Nikki could feel his lips brush against his neck.

“No. But I will”, Angel grabbed the back of Spikes neck and threw him across the room. Buffy smiled at Angel before they turned to fight a group of vamps coming for them.

Meanwhile, Xander and Cordelia were trying to fend off a group of vamps while Oz and Willow untied Giles.

The slayer and Angel were relentless, killing anything that stood in their way. Soon the room was virtually empty. The remaining vamps ran away when they saw a very angry slayer coming for them.

“Now for Spike”, Buffy looked around but he was long gone. “He always does that”. She stood there reviewing the scene in front of her. Xander, Cordy, Oz and Will stood near Giles while Angel was helping Nikki to her feet. Buffy ran over to help but Nikki pushed them both out of the way.

“Giles”, she ran over to him, kneeling next to him and gently placing his head on her lap.

“Giles”, she stroked his cheek. “Please be okay. You have to be okay. I need you”. Giles opened his eyes and looked at her. He lifted his hand to wipe the tears from her face. He tried to speak but Nikki silenced him with her lips. “Don’t say anything. It’s going to be okay”. Giles smiled at her as she held his hand. He closed his eyes and fell into a deep sleep.
