He's on a Mission: Straight to Business
by MonsieurRipper
“Now where in the hell am I gonna get some cleaner? Do you know how tricky blood stains are?” Caleb ranted. “You know I might even have to get another truck! You are costing me a lot of money you know.” Caleb eyed a young, platinum blond child. The little girl placed her hands in the pockets of her overalls, pushing up the sleeves of her pink t-shirt. “Now you know full well it won’t cost you a thing, stop trying to make me feel bad.” She cocked her eyebrow and circled Caleb in a casual stroll. “Now stop whining and tell me you got another one.” “As a matter of fact, if you will direct your attention to my truck…” Caleb grinned, giddy at the thought of impressing something as ominous as The First. The little girl skipped toward the rank smelling Ford and awaited Caleb’s assistance. He opened the passenger’s door and a red mass fell out, passing through the child’s body. “That was rude! You could have warned me!” She stamped her foot. “Well uh, *laughs* I guess I didn’t spend too long on presentation…” Caleb looked up to the clouded night sky and placed his hand upon his breast. “But the heart was there… Or… Well actually the heart is in the dash… But you know what I mean.”
“Now all of you.” Caleb began. “There is another potential coming to town. I don’t want you to kill this one, only lead her to my truck. Same deal as last time right? Go!” Caleb clasped his hands in excitement. “You know, this routine is getting kind of old.” The First appeared, replicating the girl currently dismembered in Caleb's old truck. She couldn't have been older than 17. She had, short brown hair, was short in stature and oh so innocent looking. “Yes, but it is my favorite. But this time I’m letting her live. See the witch and the other slayer are coming to town tonight, and I’ve got a message for the slayer.” He smirked. “It’s not time yet.” The brunette crossed her arms. “I know, but I want to meet her after we do it.” “Caleb, ever the charmer. Alright, let’s go then.”
2 years earlier.
Caleb left the church Sunday afternoon, shaking his head, ashamed for the human race. “They follow you like sheep.” He said, upwards to the sky. “And for that they follow me, and I will cleanse this earth.” Quick footsteps approached him, and soon after a pleading voice acknowledged the Preacher. “Father, may I have a moment?” A Hispanic, burly man had his sinner’s hand on Caleb’s shoulder. “Of course Amir, come sit down in the courtyard.” He beckoned the man towards a garden. There was a fountain and 2 stone benches in the lovely, floral quarter. “Thank-you Father. It’s um, I’ve been having… Unnatural thoughts. I think it may have something to do with my steroid use.” Amir quickly sputtered out. Caleb briefly smiled, he knew long before. I could smell the sin, it radiated off him in waves so bad that anyone could have noticed. Only they didn’t, either that or they allowed such a walking sin to exist. “What sort of thoughts?” Caleb inquired. “Unnatural ones. I need to be cleansed, I need your blessing father.” Amir bowed his head, and his unnatural muscles bulged and matched his unnatural thoughts. “Have no fear Amir, I will remove you from your sins, among other things.”
“Stop! Stop please!” She begged. She rushed to old truck’s open window to beg its driver for help. He motioned her in and she scrambled into the passenger seat. “What’s goin’ on?” A preacher asked, his thick southern accent apparent as he held the car idle. “Please get me out of here!” She begged, the car door still open. “Was someone hurt? What is it?” He asked again. “Drive!” She pleaded, shutting the car door. Caleb stepped on the pedal obediently. After a few minutes of driving, the girl was finally able to regain proper thought and thank the kind preacher for in effect, saving her life. “Thank you. Thank god you were there.” She looked at him with grateful eyes. “Well now let’s not give him credit for everything.” Caleb smiled. “No I’m just funning you, I don’t believe on consequences. I also don’t believe young girls should be out in the woods late at night, should be tucked it bed.” “Wish I was.” The girl murmured.
“I expect you do at that. Look, I don’t mean to pry, but those boys… They looked like- you didn’t happen to fall in with devil worshippers did you?” He searched the girl’s lowered eyes for a response and failed. He couldn’t help but steal a moment for a smile to cross his lips. “Na, I’m sorry. You look like you’ve been traveling a while. Is there some place you’d like me to drop you?”
“Sunnydale.” So she can speak…
“I’m headin there myself. I ain’t never been, but I expect we could find a police station, or a-“
“I just need to get to Revello Drive. Thanks… uh…Father.”
Caleb shook his head. “Call me Caleb, never was nobody’s Daddy.”
“I’m Shannon.”
“Well Shannon, you feel like telling my why those Freaky Joe’s were after you?”
“I’m not sure.”
“Well, do you ever think they were chasing you because you’re a whore?” Caleb smirked. This was his favorite part, but he was gonna need another truck.
