little slayer: chapter 6

The next night when Malou comes home she’s alone, her sister is having a sleepover. When she walks in she crashes on the couch sighing… she picks up a photograph of her with her parent and sister. She stares at it blankly, after a while she feels tears welling up in her eyes. She puts the photo down, gets up and walks into her bed room. She goes to lay on the bed wiping away the tears. She can no longer hold them in and she starts to cry. For the first time she cries. Spike has walked in and stands in the door opening unnoticed. He didn’t really know what to do. Crying woman (or girls if you will) always made him uneasy. finally he walks into the room and places a hand on the little girls shoulder. Startled she immediately stops crying as she turns around.
Malou (tears still heard in her voice) Spike? What is it?
Spike: (shrugs) just checking. Are you oke pet?
Malou: yeah sure just …
Spike: it’s starting to sink in huh luv?
Malou: (sighs) well.. it’s just… I was looking at the photo and well…
Spike: it’s alright luv.
Malou: (gives him a weak smile) thanks so how’d it go? you talked to her?
Spike: (smirks and lights a cigarette) tried anyway… she doesn’t know what she wants.
Malou: well got to look at the bright sight… at least it’s not a no.
Spike: (smiles) well I guess not… but uh.. I’ll let you get some rest then?
Malou: alright then… night.
Spike: night. Turns and walks out… (at the door takes one look back and softly) be good
