Chapter 27— Hard Love

It was hard love every step of the way
Hard to be so close to you, so hard to turn away
And when all the scars and sentimental songs dissolved today
There was nothing left to sing about, but hard love.

Buffy was actually the first to wake up that morning because she hadn’t slept well. All the anticipation of staying on the boat and asking Riley to stay with them kept was keeping her excited. And we all know… when you’re excited it’s very difficult to fall asleep.

She quietly got out of bed and packed up her stuff that she was taking to the boat with her. Her sister and Willow were still asleep and she decided she’d wake them up as soon as she was done packing and getting dressed.

She glanced at the digital clock on the nightstand. It read 7:05. Really not that early, but three hours earlier then they got up the past three days. She shrugged and started working on what to bring.

“Buffy…why are you up so early?” the lump on Willow’s bed mumbled.

“Did I wake you up?” Buffy whispered.

“No, I was half awake already, but I wasn’t expecting you to get up and make me fully awake.” Willow replied.

“Sorry..I’m just so excited. Wanna pack with me?” she asked quietly.

“Well…since I’m up anyway.” Willow rolled out of bed and tied her messy hair up in a pony-tail.

“Who ever’s done first gets bathroom first.” Buffy challenged.

“Deal.” Willow said, rubbing her eyes. They both started rushing around the room, gathering their stuff as quietly as possible. Willow began laying her stuff on her bed.

“Hey that’s unfair! I don’t get a bed to put my stuff on!” Buffy objected.

“Use the other half of yours.” Willow said sticking her tongue out. Buffy threw an armful of clothes on her half of the bed and began folding them as quickly as she could.

“I so am gonna get the bathroom first.” Willow taunted as she began stuffing her folded clothes into her bag.

“I don’t think so.” Buffy objected and spun around facing Willow. She knocked a pile of folded shirts onto the floor.

“Cheater!” Willow laughed.

“Well you get more bed then I do.” Buffy pointed out, also laughing. Willow picked up her stuff and began folding again. They both finished packing at almost the exact same time.

“I beat you!” Buffy declared.

“No way, I was totally done first.” Willow argued.

“Morning guys.” Dawn said as she got out of bed and walked over to the bathroom, shutting the door behind her.

Willow and Buffy looked at each other before bursting into laughter. “Well I get it when she comes out.” Willow said.

“Oh no you don’t.” Buffy laughed.

“Oh yes I do. Actually, I’m not done packing…so you can have it.” Willow confessed.

“Neither am I.” Buffy laughed.

“So the race is still on!” Willow said before racing over to her closet.

x0x0x0x

Buffy ended up winning the race anyway and called Riley’s cell while Willow was getting dressed.

“Hello?” he answered. She heard splashing in the background and some echoes so she figured he was at the pool.

“Hey its Buffy. Wanna meet up with the group later?” she asked.

“Sure. When and where?”

“Pizza place at three. Oh and I have something else to ask you.”

“What is it?” he asked.

“Well the whole group is going to stay out on Giles and Jenny’s boat for the weekend…if you wanna come then bring your clothes and stuff. I’d really love it if you would.” she said.

“Well, if there’s enough room for me and four other guys then sure.”

“Yeah. This boat is ‘effing huge!”

“Haha, okay, I’ll see you at three then.” he said and hung up.

“So Is Riley coming?” Willow asked as she came out of the bathroom with a towel around her head.

“Yep, I think he is.” Buffy nodded.

“Angel’s gonna be *real* happy about this.” Dawn said sarcastically.

“Dawnie! Whose side are you on?” Buffy scolded.

“I’m not on anyone’s side. I’m just thinking about how everyone is going to feel!” Dawn argued.

“Be on my side.” Buffy joked. Dawn rolled her eyes and went over to the mirror to check her make-up.

“Sorry I’m taking so long guys.” Willow apologized. “I’m probably just gonna put some mousse in my hair and dry it a little bit.”

“No it’s okay, take your time.” Buffy assured her. “I went over and listened at the guys door when I got out of the shower. They were just waking up.”

“Well, it doesn’t take them half as long to get ready.” Willow pointed out.

“But they’ll probably be playing video games anyway.” Dawn explained.

“Oh right. How can they never get sick of that?” Willow asked as she put her makeup on.

“No idea.” Buffy said and dug around the bottom of the closet to find a pair of shoes. Dawn was already fully dressed and sitting on a chair by the window, filing her nails.

“So what’s up for today?” she asked sounding bored.

“Umm, grabbing something small to eat, visiting Cordy, shopping a while, pizza place to meet Riley, back here to get our stuff, and then to the boat.” Buffy said counting the things off on her fingers.

“Aww man, it really sucks that Cordelia isn’t going to be able to go on the boat with us.” Dawn said sadly.

“Yeah, she’s been cooped up in that hospital for like ever.” Willow agreed as she spread mousse through her hair and plugged the hair dryer in.

“You finish that and we’re going to make sure the guys are ready.” Buffy said and strapped her shoes on.

Dawn immediately stood up, glad for something to do. She and Buffy walked across the hall and knocked on the guys door. Connor immediately opened the door, wearing nothing but pj pants.

“What’s with this? We’ve only been up for like twenty minutes.” he complained.

“Well if you want anything to eat before three then you guys better get ready.” Buffy warned.

“Man, I could wait four hours.” he said and began to shut the door.

“Wait, wait, now I can’t.” Xander said holding the door open. “We’ll be ready in ten minutes.” The other three boys groaned and Xander shut the door.

x0x0x0x

“I don’t really think this counts as breakfast.” Xander complained as he munched on the chocolate bar he bought.

“Xander, we’re going to eat in like three and a half hours anyway.” Dawn explained. “And plus, don’t you wanna go see Cordelia?”

“Well yeah, but couldn’t we have gone through like a McDonald’s or something?” he asked.

“Not all of us need five meals a day.” Connor joked. Everyone was stuffed into the van and Xander was the only one eating. He had already gone through a bag of chips and two power bars. Now he was on the last chocolate bar and halfway through his Pepsi.

“Very funny.” Xander mumbled through a mouthful of chocolate.

“Does anyone else feel a little claustrophobic?” Buffy asked from her squished spot between Willow and the side of the van.

“Nope, not at all.” Dawn said sarcastically as she peeked from behind Connor where she was smushed in the back.

“I see land approaching!” Xander exclaimed when he saw the sign for the hospital. ‘Thank god’s rang throughout the van.

“For once I think it’s a good thing Cordy’s in the hospital. There is no possible way we could fit one more person in this van.” Willow sighed.

The van pulled into a parking space and everyone pretty much fell out.

“Oh man…we forgot to get stuff for Cordy.” Xander realized.

“She’ll live. We can bring her more stuff before we go out on the boat. This is just our morning trip.” Dawn explained.

“Our morning trip in the afternoon.” Buffy pointed out noticing that it was noon.

x0x0x0x0x0x0x

When they got up to the hospital room, Cordelia was dressed and her bed was made. She was sitting on the chair by the window with her bag packed and she was reading a magazine.

“Jeez, I thought you guys would never get here. I have great news!” she said closing the magazine.

“You’re getting a bigger room?” Connor joked.

“I get to come home! Well, not home, home but hotel room home!” she exclaimed.

“You get to come on the boat with us!” Dawn exclaimed jumping up and down.

“Oh my gosh..I have to pack!” Cordelia realized.

“I think this calls for a shopping spree!” Willow exclaimed.

“But, we have to get her packed first.” Buffy pointed out. The guys stepped back and watched as the girls continued speed-talking about the plans for the day.

“Okay, so now, what exactly is going on?” Oz asked, cutting into the conversation.

“Well, we need to help Cordy pack. So um, back to the hotel, packing until one, two hour shopping spree, then meeting up at Sadie’s for a late lunch, back to the hotel to get our stuff, and then over to the boat.” Buffy explained. “So the schedule didn’t really change that much.”

“We didn’t exactly know the schedule in the first place.” Connor pointed out.

“Now you do.” Dawn joked.

x0x0x0x0x0x

It took half an hour into the packing for the girls to realize that they had a note sitting on the night stand.

“Girls, Rupert and I have decided that we want to take the weekend off. Xander knows how to drive the boat. We discussed this with him and he knows where to take and anchor the boat, so you guys have a fun weekend. Try not to get into any trouble; we wouldn’t want to have to cut the vacation short. We’re putting all of our trust in you, so don’t take it for granted. Have fun. Love Jenny.” Willow read aloud.

“Oh. My. God. This is going to be *so* much fun!” Cordelia squealed as she packed the last of her belongings and slung her bag over her shoulder.

“What do you say we take your car over to the boat, drop off ours and the guys stuff, and then go shopping. The guys can do whatever until lunch.” Dawn asked.

“Sounds good to me.” Buffy agreed and grabbed her bag. She and Willow started taking stuff out to the car and Dawn helped Cordelia finish packing her bag.

“How’s your battle wound?” she asked.

“It’s been better for like four days. They even took the stitches out and everything. Apparently it wasn’t as bad as they thought it was or something. I dunno.” Cordelia answered and zipped up her bag.

“I’ll get it.” Dawn said and slung it over her shoulder and slipped her sandals on.

“I can’t wait to see the boat!” Cordelia exclaimed as she pulled on her sandals and sunglasses.

“It’s so awesome. All of the girls get to share a room!” Dawn explained.

“Um, party?!”

x0x0x0x0x0x

“Holy shrimp.”

“Shrimp?” Buffy shot Cordelia a weird look.

“Well, I kinda got in the habit…I wasn’t allowed to cuss in the hospital.” Cordelia explained.

“But still…shrimp??” Buffy joked as she grabbed her and Angel’s bags and pillows. Dawn took hers, Connor’s, and Cordelia’s and her pillow. Cordelia took her, Xander, and Connor’s pillows. Willow took her and Oz’s bags and pillows. They dumped all their stuff in one room and the guys stuff in the other.

“Did I tell you that Riley’s coming?” Buffy asked Cordelia.

“Oh my jellyfish! Are you guys like going out? Officially?” Cordelia asked.

“Jellyfish?” Buffy asked.

“I really need to get out of that habit.” Cordelia muttered.

“No, we’re not ‘officially’ going out. But I think that it’s definitely headed that way.” Buffy gushed.

“What about Angel?” Dawn cut in.

“In case you haven’t noticed, he’s been ignoring me for like a week. I don’t want to be going out with someone who can’t even take the time out of his oh-so-‘busy’ life to acknowledge me.” Buffy shot back. “And plus, Riley’s such a gentleman.”

“Yeah, but Angel really loves you…”

“Obviously not. He’s probably at some store chatting up the first hot girl he sees.”

x0x0x0x0x

“I’m Drusilla.” the girl held out her hand.

“Angel.” he shook her hand.

“You here on vacation?” Drusilla asked.

“Well, sort of. I only live about three hours away from here, but I’m staying at a friend’s house.” he explained. “You?”

“I live here. I love it! Isn’t it so beautiful?” she asked. Angel had to stop himself from rolling his eyes at her British accent. It reminded him way too much of Spike.

“Yeah it’s great.” he agreed.

“You know, you look really familiar.” she observed, tapping her chin with her finger. Her nails were bright pink with white tips and a little orange sun on them.

“I don’t believe we’ve met anywhere. I’m sure I’d remember a pretty girl like you.” he smiled.

“Oh! I know! Are you in a band?” she asked.

“Yeah actually…how’d you know?” he eyed her suspiciously.

“Well forever ago, I was at the weekly party thing, and there was this band on stage and the drummer had to be the sexiest thing alive. And uhm, he’s standing right in front of me.” she winked.

“Wow.” that’s all Angel could say.

“Wow is right! I never thought I’d see you again!! So where’s your girlfriend? The blondie chick?” she asked, glancing around the shop.

“She’s not my girlfriend. She’s just a friend. We aren’t even that close.” Angel explained quickly.

“Oh really.” she asked and gave him a cute half smile.

“Really.” he assured.

“What’s your number?” she asked suddenly.

“Umm…cell or hotel room?”

x0x0x0x0x0x0x

“Ohmigosh! Riley would just love this on me, wouldn’t he?!” Buffy exclaimed as she spun around in a short yellow dress.

“Yeah its totally cute.” Willow agreed.

“Well, let’s see yours!” Buffy prodded. Willow peeped out of her dressing room.

“Dawn can go first.” she offered. Dawn opened the dressing room door and came out wearing a long light blue dress with a slit up the left side, reaching all the way to her hip.

“Wow…I don’t think mom would approve.” Buffy said, a little jealous that Dawn looked so much better then her. Dawn looked, well, hot, and she looked cute. But then again, Riley seemed more like the type to go for cute over hot. Dawn raised an eyebrow at her sister and Buffy gave her a thumbs up.

“Cordelia, your turn!” Dawn exclaimed. Cordelia came out wearing a tiny aquamarine dress that had only one strap going over her shoulder.

“Wow! You look amazing!!” Dawn exclaimed. Buffy nodded in agreement.

“Okay Willow, you’re the only one left. Come on out!” Cordelia said. Willow slowly opened her dressing room door and emerged, wearing a strapless peach dress that cut off above the knees.

“Dawnie, you’re the only one wearing a dress that goes below the knees.” Willow pointed out.

“Yeah…that’s okay, it’s not like we’re going to throw a party.” Dawn pointed out. The girls exchanged excited glances.

x0x0x0x0x0x

“Absolutely not!! If my parents found out, they would kill us! It would be like...bloodier then the Civil War! Antietam even!” Xander objected.

“Antietam?? What the….” Connor asked.

“No! The answer is definitely…Oh my god. Not Cordelia. Don’t you dare give the phone to Cordelia.” Xander exclaimed.

The boys had been sitting in their hotel room playing SSX tricky when Xander’s cell phone rang. It was the girls and they were begging to throw a party on the boat. With no adults it would probably be a hit. They could get a bunch of people to go, but they wouldn’t even know anyone. It would be a good way to meet chicks, but a terrible idea.

“Cordelia, seriously no! I promise you we can have a party, but not on the boat. It’s more then just having or not having the party. Like seriously, there’s the chance of getting the boat taken away and everything. We can have a party at the house some time. Please, Cordy.” he begged.

It was a battle of the who would break first. And it would be better for everyone if Cordelia gave in.

“Oh my god. Thank you, thank god, thank god, thank god, thank god! Thank you so much! I love you forever and ever! I promise we’ll have a party okay? I love you!” Xander said, sounding very relieved. “Yeah…I’ll see you in an hour. I love you. Bye.”

“I’m actually getting tired of video games.” Angel said as Xander hung up the phone.

“That’s only because you always lose.” Connor joked as he pulled ahead of Oz.

“No, seriously, I think we should…I dunno…get out of the hotel a while? Or at least this room.”

“What are you suggesting?” Xander asked.

“Well, the hotel is pretty big…I’m sure there’s enough bathrooms in this place…” Connor started.

“No!! We’ll go…I dunno…do something that isn’t vandalism or video games.” Angel said.

“Well, we could drive over to Sadies and have them get the pizza ready a while.” Oz suggested.

“We have a full hour!” Xander pointed out.

“Um, no, we have half an hour. We’re meeting them at 3:00, not 3:30.” Connor objected.

x0x0x0x0x

The girls walked into Sadie’s and saw the boys sitting off in the corner all with sodas and a slice of pizza. They took the booth next to them and also started eating.

“Let me know if you see Riley.” Buffy announced as she sat down facing the door.

“Who invited him?” Angel muttered.

“Me. And he’s coming on the boat with us.” Buffy said, sounding very snobby. Xander choked on his pizza.

“Is he allowed to do that?” he asked as he coughed.

“Yeah, Giles and Jenny said it would be fine.” Willow explained. Xander then choked on the soda he just took a gulp of.

“Great. Now I should go invited Dru. Then we’d have a party.” Angel said, glancing at Buffy.

“Who’s Dru? Your boyfriend?” Buffy shot back.

“No, Drusilla is a girl I met today at the video store.” he informed her. Buffy shot Dawn an ‘I-told-you-so’ glance before retorting with,

“Good, so it’s okay with you that I’m dating Riley now?” Xander choked again.

“Yeah, perfectly fine. He seems like a gentleman.” Angel rolled his eyes.

“And I’ll bet Dru is too.” she shot at him and walked into the bathroom. Willow looked from the bathroom to Angel and back to the bathroom before following her best friend in.

Just then Riley, Jared, Shane, Forrest, and Graham walked into the shop. Cordelia quickly jumped up and waved them over.

“Wanna re-introduce everyone?” she asked.

“Sure,” Riley smiled brightly, “but where’s Buffy?”

“She and Willow are in the bathroom.” Dawn explained.

“Slight disagreement between parties.” Oz said, glancing at Angel.

“Ohh, I see. Well, this is Jared,” he started, pointing to each of his friends as he said their names. “Shane, Forrest, and Graham.”

The five newcomers sat down and each grabbed a slice of pizza. A few minutes later, Buffy and Willow emerged from the bathroom and sat down.

“Hey Riley.” Buffy said, putting on her best smile.

“Hey Buffy. Thanks so much for inviting us to come with.” he grinned.

“Did you bring your stuff?” Willow asked.

“Yep…it’s out in the car.” Shane answered.

“Awesome! As soon as we’re done eating, we’re heading out.” Cordelia explained. Xander watched carefully and noticed that she looked at Graham longer then any of the other guys. Maybe she did, maybe she didn’t, but Xander was definitely feeling uncomfortable about it.

“You know what I think we should do?” he asked.

“What?” Cordelia, turned her attention to him.

“Monkeyball tournament. May the best monkey win!”

x0x0x0x0x

Connor glanced at his watch, “Dude, it’s like…six!”

“Is it really?” Dawn asked, picking her head up off his shoulder.

“Yeah…how is it even possible that we’ve been playing this for so long and didn’t even notice?” Xander asked. By now everyone was looking around the room and we’re standing up to leave.

“Well, I guess we’d better get going then.” Angel suggested, stretching.

“Good idea. I just remembered that I hafta drive the stinking boat.” Xander nodded. They shut off the PS2 and started out to the car walking in little groups. Dawn, Connor, and Angel were walking together, Willow and Oz, Riley’s friends, Xander and Cordelia, and finally, Buffy and Riley.

“This weekend is gonna be amazing!” Buffy gushed, wrapping her hands around his arm.

“Yeah, it should be really fun.” Riley agreed, glancing down at her from the corner of his eye.
Everyone got in their cars and followed Xander’s lead to the boat.

“Make sure you have everything, and make sure all the doors in your car are locked…you don’t know what kind of creeps are hanging out in the docks at night.” Xander said in his best ‘tour guide’ voice. Everyone grabbed their stuff and followed Xander onto the boat.

“Riley, you and your friends room is down the hall on the left…it might be a little squished...the rooms are really only made for four people.” Willow explained.

“I’m sure we’ll make do.” Riley assured her.

“Oh! Willow, help me give them a grand tour!” Buffy exclaimed. Cordelia glanced at Graham then whispered to Dawn,

“Wanna get on our bathing suits and tan while the sun’s still out?” Dawn nodded and the two of them raced to the girls’ room.

“A tour would be great.” Riley smiled. “We’ll just put our stuff away and be right back.” He and his friends took their bags down the hall.

“I think I’m gonna go join Dawn and Cordy.” Connor said and earned himself a few weird looks from Buffy and Willow. “I mean after they’re done changing!” he exclaimed. Angel chuckled and walked into the guys’ room to do God-knows-what and Xander and Oz went to get the boat moving.

“Maybe you shouldn’t flirt with Riley so much in front of Angel.” Willow suggested.

“Well, Angel had his chance with me and he didn’t take it, his problem, not mine.” Buffy shot back.

x0x0x0x

“What’s for dinner, Xand?” Willow asked as she walked into what Xander liked to call the ‘captains cabin’.

“The tour is over already?” he asked.

“It’s been almost an hour.” she pointed out.

“Wow, I didn’t think you could even get an entire hour out of this boat.”

“Neither did I, but of course we had to look *everywhere* and talk about how gorgeous everything and everyone was.” Willow sighed.

“So its not only getting on my nerves?” Xander ventured.

“No way, its definitely bugging me too. I mean, Buffy plus Angel equals love…right? But no, they both have to make it so goddamn difficult!” she said in exasperation. At the realization of her cussing her eyes went wide as did Xander’s.

“Yeah, I get what you mean.” he said, watching her for another explosion.

“Riley’s cute and all, but he is *so* not her type. It’s like she can’t decide if she likes him or not, but its fun to lead him on and flirt with him while she takes her time deciding.” Willow sighed. Xander nodded in agreement and she continued, “I don’t mean to be bad friend, really, I don’t…but if she wasn’t going to get with Angel, then what was the point of dumping Spike anyway?”

“I don’t know…but soon Buffy’s going to lose her chance with Angel. He’s been meeting people, girls, and if Buffy won’t treat him right, he’s going to find someone that will. I think him and Buff would be so perfect for each other…like you and Oz or me and Cordy…but…I don’t know. I guess they’re both too stubborn.” Xander warned. Willow stared at him for a moment in disbelief.

“That was kinda deep.” she commented. “For someone like you.”

“Are you calling me shallow?” he asked jokingly.

x0x0x0x0x

Graham, Jared, Shane, and Gunn were all sitting with Cordelia, Connor, and Dawn on the deck.

“Look at the sun setting!” Dawn exclaimed, pointing off the side of the boat. She was snuggled in a plastic chair next to Connor with a blanket wrapped around them. Cordelia was in the chair next to them sipping a bottled water, with Graham sitting in front of the chair. The other three guys were sitting on the edge of the boat, leaning against the bars with their legs hanging over the edge.

“I wanna go on a banana boat.” Cordelia said suddenly.

“Oh! I know a place that does that…it’s pretty much on the other side of town, but its pretty cool. Its in an ‘out in the middle of nowhere’ type of place…real peaceful. We all should go there.” Graham suggested.

“That would be so much fun!” Cordelia agreed.

“Yeah, we should totally look into it.” Connor agreed.

“Holy shit!!” Shane yelled.

“What is it?” Graham asked, sounding concerned.

“THERE’S DOLPHINS!” Jared exclaimed. Everyone leapt from their seats and rushed over to the bars. There were about five dolphins, silhouetted in the setting sun. They were splashing about and jumping out of the water.

“Oh my god.” Dawn said, the sight leaving her about breathless.

“That’s so beautiful….” Connor whispered before the group fell totally silent. The beauty went undisturbed, the only sounds being waves lapping against the boat, seagulls, and the boat’s motor.

The sun was fading fast and as it disappeared, they knew the dolphins would as well. But they would enjoy it as long as they could.

x0x0x0x0x

Riley and Buffy were a deck above the rest of the group. Neither of them had gotten up to watch the dolphins, but were sitting in a seat where they could see them as well.

“So…I get the feeling there’s some tension between you and Angel.” Riley said.

“Um..yeah.” Buffy agreed.

“Well…did you guys used to date?” he prodded.

“No…I don’t really want to talk about it…we had a..fling..I guess you could say.” she tried.

“Oh.” Riley nodded, and seeing that Buffy didn’t really like the subject, decided to hug her. Weird decision to make after he had bugged her about an ex boyfriend or ex fling or whatever Angel was, but it felt right. Buffy didn’t pull away or hug him back. She just relaxed…collapsed, even…into his arms.

x0x0x0x0x

When Oz came in to check on Angel, he found him asleep, curled on his bunk.

“Not a bad idea..” he murmured, but realized it was really too late to be taking a nap. They would be eating soon and then going to bed, so there was really no point. He laid down on the bunk across from Angel’s and closed his eyes, just to rest and think.

A few minutes later he had drifted into that space between awake and asleep. A sad song drifted into his subconscious and he recognized it as ‘Hard Love’. That was when he realized that he wasn’t imagining things…it was Angel singing. And he actually sounded good…really good. Oz almost didn’t dare move, for fear of scaring Angel out of singing.

Both of them were startled about out of their pants when Xander’s loud--and maybe even annoying considering the circumstances—yelled throughout the boat, informing everyone that it was dinnertime. Angel left the room quickly and Oz waited a minute or two so that Angel wouldn’t feel awkward.

x0x0x0x

“Ham sandwiches?” Connor asked. “That’s it?”

“Well, I didn’t really feel like making anything ‘special’ so yeah, ham sandwiches. Deal with it.” Xander joked.

“Maybe tomorrow the girls can make us something special.” Jared said as he eyed the sandwiches suspiciously.

“Honey, I think the sandwiches are safer then anything Cordelia would make.” Dawn joked, glancing at him out of the corner of her eye. He looked from the sandwich to Cordelia nervously and then dug in.

“And we have soda and chips!” Willow exclaimed excitedly, caring maybe four bags of different kinds of chips, followed by Angel with a few cases of soda.

“Where’s Buffy and Riley?” Oz asked Willow quietly as he took the bags from her and set them out.

“I think they’re on the upper deck.. I’ll go get them.” she said.

x0x0x0x0x

After everyone ate, they popped a movie in and then headed off to bed, all wondering what was in store for boat life the next day.

yes, its hard love, but its love all the same
Not the stuff of fantasy, but more than just a game
And the only kind of miracle that’s worthy of the name
For the love that heals our lives is mostly hard love
