Expecting The Past: Too Difficult To Watch

SUNNYDALE - 1997

Faith and Charly watch Buffy and the child vampire walk down towards the cementary and then into a large crypt. After a few minutes, they start walking towards the crypt, until Charly grabs Faith's arm. She pulls Faith down to the ground, behind a headstone.

FAITH-
"What...." She follows Charly's finger, and they can see two of the future soldiers walking towards the crypt.

CHARLY-
"That rifle....it's a stunner."

FAITH-
"I still don't get it. Just because Buffy and The Master doesn't fight tonight, doesn't mean they won't later."

CHARLY-
"I'm a little fuzzy on the details....it has something to do with a prophecy."

The two soldiers enter the crypt, and Faith and Charly run up to the crypt. They enter the crypt...and Charly takes a rifle butt to the face. She drops to the ground and Faith goes wild. After a few minutes, the two soldiers are a mess of bloody pulp. Faith reaches down and activates their time controllers. Their bodies disappear into a bright light and they head into the future. Charly begins to wake up....she has a cut over her right eye.

CHARLY-
"What was good."

FAITH-
"You would have made Giles proud."

CHARLY-
"Who?"

FAITH-
"Sorry...inside joke. Come on." She helps her girlfriend down into the tunnel. They stop at the end of a tunnel overlooking The Master's layer. They watch as the vampire releases Buffy and she drops into a pool of water. Faith closes her eyes and turns around.

CHARLY (whispering)-
"Are you okay?"

FAITH (whispering)-
"It's too difficult to watch."

Charly places her hand on Faith's shoulder.

ANGEL-
"There! She's not breathing, she's dead."

XANDER-
"No....try CPR."

ANGEL-
"You have to do it...I have no breath." After a few minutes, Buffy wakes up, and Angel, Xander, and the Slayer walk out to follow their destiny. Charly presses the button on the time control, and they would follow theirs.
