An Inevitability: Part Seven

Time Frame: This story takes place right after "I Only Have Eyes For You" In fact, it is one day later. It doesn’t dwell much on what happened, just a passing reference. After that my story goes completely off cannon from the show. Well, there are a few similarities

Rating: PG (mild, mild, mild, language and mild violence)

Summary: Angel and Jenny team up in their soul-ish way and find a way for all to have a happy ending. Crappy summary I know but I don’t want to give anything away

Disclaimer: Joss Whedon, Fox, WB, and Mutant Enemy own Buffy and all of her world. I own none of these characters but was really bored so I borrowed them for a while. Don't sue! I am only 13 and have a grand total of $17. I also borrowed the name "An Inevitability" from a quote in a fan-fic written by the talented LadyRHood.

Thanks to Kelly, Katherine, Sally, Becca, and Rebecca for all the inspiration. If my story sucks i am sorry. This is my first attempted at writing anything so cut me some slack. Any and all feedback is appreciated but you don't have t if you don't want to, Okay, I am normally a fan of Buffy+Angel=yeah! But I thought I should start my writing career (if I get good feedback) with something semi-on canon If I get a little good feedback I will continue this story with a little Buffy/Angel romance. Be warned all of you who think Xander and Buffy should be together….I am the Official Keeper of the tape measurer to make sure Xander doesn't get within two feet of Buffy. Okay, I'm done, on to the story….

This was it! Buffy nearly screamed but clamed herself as Giles spoke. She quickly took her place in the circle.

"We gather to recall a lost soul"

The gang started to circle Angelus, each carrying a candle.

"We call you from the ether. Realm between realm" Giles continued

"Realm between realm" the others intoned

"Come forth and fill the Orb"

Angel glanced over at Jenny as he began to fade. "Thank you" he said

"No, thank you. And tell them I am sorry."

"We all are. And they forgive you" Angel smiled and then he was gone

The Orb glowed brightly and Angelus struggled even harder against his bonds. The ropes gave way some more.

Buffy started at the Orb and kissed it lightly. "Gone and back again" she said and walked over to Angelus. As she held it above his head the ropes snapped and Angelus leapt from his seat knocking the Orb from Buffy’s hands. She gasped as it fell to the ground and shattered. The yellow liquid mist of Angel’s soul leaked out onto the floor….touching the very back of Angelus’ heel. His foot twitched. Angelus looked down and cursed yet again. He could feel the pain set in as Angel fought the demon for control of his body once again. He could feel himself start to lose against Angel. Well, if he was going, he was taking Buffy with him he thought and grabbed Buffy’s throat in a steel-hard clasp.

"Ay-yah" screamed Kendra as she did a front flip, knocking Angelus way from Buffy. Buffy and Angel went down to the floor. Buffy picked herself up but Angel remained on the ground, screaming and cursing. He started to convulse and the Scooby Gang watched in fascinated horror. Suddenly he was still. No one made a sound. Finally, Buffy could stand it no longer. She knelt down and gently touched Angel’s back. He shuttered and looked up. She searched his face for a clue and saw only love and remorse.

"Angel" she whispered gently. Their lips met in the most wonderful, gentle, fearful kiss of both of their lives. Buffy felt herself melt away as Angel’s arms encircled her waist. She had waited so long. Angel thought he would burst with joy. He had waited so long. When they finally broke the kiss, they stared deeply into each other's eyes.

"Oh God, I am so sorry" they both said at the exact same time, their eyes filled with sorrow and then love as they laughed. They were only marginally aware when the others left the room.

Buffy thought

Angel finished the thought.
