An Inevitability: Part Three

by WillowBBF

Time Frame: This story takes place right after "I Only Have Eyes For You" In fact, it is one day later. It doesn’t dwell much on what happened, just a passing reference. After that my story goes completely off cannon from the show. Well, there are a few similarities

Rating: PG (mild, mild, mild, language and mild violence)

Summary: Angel and Jenny team up in their soul-ish way and find a way for all to have a happy ending. Crappy summary I know but I don’t want to give anything away

Disclaimer: Joss Whedon, Fox, WB, and Mutant Enemy own Buffy and all of her world. I own none of these characters but was really bored so I borrowed them for a while. Don't sue! I am only 13 and have a grand total of $17. I also borrowed the name "An Inevitability" from a quote in a fan-fic written by the talented LadyRHood.

Thanks to Kelly, Katherine, Sally, Becca, and Rebecca for all the inspiration. If my story sucks i am sorry. This is my first attempted at writing anything so cut me some slack. Any and all feedback is appreciated but you don't have t if you don't want to, Okay, I am normally a fan of Buffy+Angel=yeah! But I thought I should start my writing career (if I get good feedback) with something semi-on canon If I get a little good feedback I will continue this story with a little Buffy/Angel romance. Be warned all of you who think Xander and Buffy should be together….I am the Official Keeper of the tape measurer to make sure Xander doesn't get within two feet of Buffy. Okay, I'm done, on to the story….

"You should’ve seen the look on her face. It was priceless!" laughed Angelus as Dru clapped her hands gleefully.

"You see Ms. Edith? Angelus always knows what to do." Dru said shrewdly . Ms. Edith of course didn’t answer.

"So you didn’t kill her then?" interrupted Spike. They had had this conversation more times than he could count.

"What? Where is the poetry in that? There must be poetry" declared Angelus as he shot a glance over at Dru who just smiled.

Spike gritted his teeth and gripped the edge of his wheelchair trying desperately not to get up and beat that smirk off of Angelus’ face. But, no. That would give away the great surprise. And what a surprise it would be. Angelus was really making a pest of himself. He was starting to prefer the old Buffy whipped Angel. Heck, he liked Buffy more than this Angelus. "I’m going to bed. The sun’s rising" Spike turned his chair and left. He needed to be alone.

"Okay, this is it" said Angel.
"Do you remember the incantation?" asked Jenny

"Yea, wish me luck." Said Angel as he followed Spike.

Later that day after Spike was asleep Angel stood at the foot of the bed and started to chant "Hicce est mate. Into the dreams. Hicce est mate. Into the dreams."

Spike was walking on a grassy field. It was filled with sunlight yet he was not burning. In the distance he saw Angel walking towards him. As Angel drew nearer Spike called out "What the hell is all this?"

"It’s a dream Spike but it is very real. I am Angel, the true Angel. This is the only way I can communicate with you and my time is short so listen up. I got a deal to make with you. It involves teaming up with Buffy but also getting rid of Angelus forever."

"I’m listening"

Spike woke up later and smiled. This was great. Now to wait until sundown.

Angel had one last stop to make. After getting Spikes help (and promise not to hurt Buffy) he was ready for the next step. He glided into Buffy’s bedroom and was startled to find her asleep. It was only five o’clock. he thought as a wave of pity swept over him. She was so tired and suffering so much. Well, not for long. He started to chant

…Buffy was chained to the wall. The Master just about to bite. Suddenly the Master was pulled back and quickly staked through the heart. Buffy heaved a sigh of relief and looked up to see who had saved her. Angel. Her heart leapt and then fell for even now, she knew it was a dream. Angel, sensing her thoughts spoke as he unchained her.
"Yes, it is a dream." Angel finished unchaining her and she leapt into his arms. He caught her and lifted her face level to his. They stared into each others eyes before their lips met. Buffy felt her heart start to bust with joy. In Angel's arms she had it all, love, comfort, safety. Angel's heart lept. She still loved him! He held her close, but gently, as if she was a vase and he was afraid he would break her. Then, he remembered why he was here and broke they kiss. She lingered near his face as he spoke.. "I’m sorry, but I have wanted to do that for so long. I am real. I have to tell you something and this is the only way you can see me. My time is short so listen. That disk, the one Willow had."

"Your cure?" said Buffy

"Yes, but to fulfill it you need an Orb of Thesula. You have to go to a shop." Angel looked at Buffy whose eyes were filled with happiness. He wanted to kiss her again. To hold her. To tell her it would be…..okay, down to business. Angel proceeded to tell Buffy what to do.

Buffy awoke later and smiled. She reached for her phone and called Giles. It was going to work.
