An Inevitability: Part One
by WillowBBF
Time Frame: This story takes place right after "I Only Have Eyes For You" In fact, it is one day later. It doesn’t dwell much on what happened, just a passing reference. After that my story goes completely off cannon from the show. Well, there are a few similarities
Rating: PG (mild, mild, mild, language and mild violence)
Summary: Angel and Jenny team up in their soul-ish way and find a way for all to have a happy ending. Crappy summary I know but I don’t want to give anything away
Disclaimer: Joss Whedon, Fox, WB, and Mutant Enemy own Buffy and all of her world. I own none of these characters but was really bored so I borrowed them for a while. Don't sue! I am only 13 and have a grand total of $17. I also borrowed the name "An Inevitability" from a quote in a fan-fic written by the talented LadyRHood.
Thanks to Kelly, Katherine, Sally, Becca, and Rebecca for all the inspiration. If my story sucks i am sorry. This is my first attempted at writing anything so cut me some slack. Any and all feedback is appreciated but you don't have t if you don't want to, Okay, I am normally a fan of Buffy+Angel=yeah! But I thought I should start my writing career (if I get good feedback) with something semi-on canon If I get a little good feedback I will continue this story with a little Buffy/Angel romance. Be warned all of you who think Xander and Buffy should be together….I am the Official Keeper of the tape measurer to make sure Xander doesn't get within two feet of Buffy. Okay, I'm done, on to the story….

Angel swept her up in his arms and kissed her deeply on the lips. When they broke the kiss Buffy looked up into Angel’s deep brown eyes and said simply "I love you". "I know" he gently whispered back. Then a thick blanket of mist swirled around them and Angel was gone. Beep Beep Beep blared the alarm clock. Buffy hit the "off" button in a daze. It had been a dream. It was always just a dream. Buffy began to cry as realization once again set in. But, no matter how much anguish that she felt upon waking she would never wish the dreams away. It was the only time she and Angel were together. She dried her eyes and looked over at the clock
"2 a.m.!" she nearly shouted, "What was I thinking?"
Then she remember, time to slay. That was the thing about her job. High risk, lousy pay, and terrible hours. She was lucky to get even 2 hours of sleep a night. She hopped out of bed fully dressed and picked up a bag of supplies she had packed earlier. She crawled out the window without a sound and soon found herself in the graveyard. This was the fourth day in a row she had been on the hunt. It would have been more but Angelus had to land her in the hospital. Broken wrist and flu. It wasn’t all that fun. But, being the Slayer she healed up in no time and was back. Willow had stated that she was "all work and no play Buffy" and Buffy was beginning to agree with her. But Buffy knew that if she let her guard down for even a second Angelus would waste no time taking lives. It was her fault that Angel’s soul had been taken away and although she knew she didn’t deserve to be forgiven she had to at least try and make up for it. A snap of a twig brought her back to reality as she drew a stake.
"Well! Is this all the thanks I get?" said an all too familiar voice behind her. Buffy whirled around only to be caught staring into a pair of deep brown eyes that were once filled with love were now filled only with hate…Angelus’ eyes.
"I mean, ya ask me not to sneak up on ya in a graveyard and I do my best to please and you pull a stake on me. I hope this isn’t how you treat all your true loves."
"You’re not my true love. You killed that Angel."
"Ahh…. Hostility. I like it"
With a cry Buffy lunged at Angelus. Quick as a flash Angelus grabbed Buffy’s outstretched arm, forced the stake out of it and flung her to the ground.
"Tsk, tsk. Whatta temper. I just came to give you a message. No killing involved, yet, since I’m such a nice guy."
"Don’t I know it" Buffy replied sarcastically
"Hey! I mean, I sent you flowers at the hospital but that Xander, your little white knight, wouldn’t let me in. He’s still in love with you ya know. Oh, don’t worry. He’ll be dead soon enough. Did ya like the pictures I drew for ya? One down, six to go. How ‘bout that Oz chap? Yea, he’ll go next. Never did care much for werewolves."
Without another word, Angelus was gone leaving Buffy speechless and horrified. She had thought it would end with Ms. Calendar but obviously she had been kidding herself. Angelus had other plans.

"…. And then he said that Oz was next" Buffy said as 4 pairs of worried eyes turned towards Oz.
Sitting around the library table, the newest member of the Scooby Gang cleared his throat.
"Well that…sucks"
Willow reached out and grabbed his hand.
"Well, we knew this was going to happen sooner or later. Angelus will go to no end to torment you Buffy. But, with a little research and some faith" he thought silently "I am sure we will be ready for whatever he throws our way." Said Giles, desperately trying to give the terrified group of teenagers some hope.
Buffy looked around the room full of her best friends, her only friends as a matter of fact. It was because of her that this was happening to them. Her fault. Well, she would die before she let Angel, no! it wasn’t Angel anymore, it was Angelus….. Angelus hurt any of them.
Soon after the Slayerettes had gone to class, Giles headed for his books to find anything that could stop Angelus. As he pulled out a book, a smaller one fell out. He bent to retrieve it and stopped. It was the book he had lent Jenny. The first edition. She had returned it right before their first kiss. A small tear fell down his cheek and dropped onto the book.
"Oh Jenny! I miss you so much!" said Giles, his voice thick with pain.
Thinking back on the last conversation he had with her. He had invited her to his house. She had said there was something she wanted to show him….in fact, she had said "I think I’m on to something" Giles frowned "I’m on to something"? What had she meant?

"Okay, tomorrow we will work on spreadsheet formatting" Willow said happily as the rest of the class groaned. After the class had left Willow sat down to think. She was so worried about Oz…and Buffy. Especially Oz. Not only was he such a great guy but also ever since she had worked up the courage to kiss him things had been going great between them. Suddenly a gust of wind blew in from the window sending her papers everywhere.
"This is so not my day," she said as she bent to pick up the papers.
Suddenly, something between the desks caught her eye. She reached in and pulled out a yellow disk. It had no markings or labels on it.
"Huh. It must’ve just fallen’
As she was about to throw it on the desk every one of her senses prickled. She looked up and there, in a flowing white dress….was Ms. Calendar. As Willow felt herself start to faint the ghost spoke.
"Willow! Please don’t! My time here is very limited. The yellow… disk" the ghost voice started to fade and so did her body. "You must…" and the room was empty once again.
Then Willow fainted
