New Beginning: Prologue
by Two_wacky_nonblondes
The past couple years had been very hard on her. She had had to move away from her home and get used to a whole new environment in England and her appearance had been changed due to a clever yet complicated spell cast by Willow on her arrival. It was only due to a lot of begging and a certain amount of violence that her friends had been able to follow her here at all. But for safety’s sake none of them could be seen. They were under the same spell as her real identity. It worked a lot like a blanket. It covered things that weren’t supposed to be seen and shows you something else instead.
Buffy had confided everything in a close friend at her new school out of desperation, and then after going along with everything for nine months that friend had told her that she couldn’t deal with it anymore and denied anything that she had been told. That hit her hard and now she told no one anything. But know she had a terrible secret and needed to tell someone.
Angel had loyally and lovingly followed her to England. And now she had betrayed him. She was seeing Conner, his own son behind his back. She felt awful. She sat in her room on this dull March day, and cried. She shut the door and would let no-one in. Not even her two best friends. She could hear them talking about her in the corridor. “What do you think it is?” Willow asked Xander. She hated to see her friend in pain. “I asked dead boy, he said that she was fine earlier. He didn’t notice anything. Stupid…” “That’s enough!” Willow said sternly. She wasn’t in the mood for his immature banter. She knew he hated Angel, most days she would be patient enough to listen to his constant babbling. But today all she wanted was to ensure that Buffy was O.K.
Back inside Buffy sat on her bad and stared at her mobile phone. She could just call him and tell him it’s over. She could call Angel and tell him what was going on. She COULD do a lot of things. But she just couldn’t face the idea of what her friends would think of her. She needed to tell some one. But no-one that has known her long enough to judge her. She could bring someone new into the equation. ‘Can I risk that again?’ she thought to herself. ‘Drastic times call for drastic measures’ Tomorrow. She thought. I’ll tell someone tomorrow.
