Hell on Earth 5: Chaos: Prologue
by Timan
Prologue
in every generation there is a Chosen One. She alone will stand against the vampires, the demons and the forces of darkness. She is the Slayer . . .
. . . At least that what it was suppose to be
But fate, like life, has many twists and this twist came in two forms. Firstly the slayer know as Buffy Summers, the slayer that defied destiny, she brought the power from the chosen one to the chosen two and secondly was the blade. The Scythe of the Slayer which was used as the catalyst for the Witches spell turning the one into the many
All over the world women of every race and nationality was given the power and it was the job of a select few to find and train these women . . .
These slayers . . .
The slayer that defied destiny set up a facility in Rome where these young women were brought and trained and, in time, the group became classified by a single name . . .
Generation S . . .
But fates twist does not end with the chosen. A vampire with a soul was included in the events that unwound. Manipulated by the law firm Wolfram and Hart he was given hope by the prophecy known as the Shanshu. But, like the vision of his love Cordelia, it turned out to be false but fate had a way playing the odds. Unbeknownst to the lawyers this was the second running, the second timeline, with the foreknowledge of the previous timeline the souled vampire not only won his freedom but broke his curse freeing him form the consequences of a moment of perfect happiness.
So life goes on but, as we all know, so does fate . . .
~ The Hyperion Hotel, Los Angeles California – 2004 ~
Angel and Spike were cleaning up the lobby to the hotel. It had been a week since angelus was pulled out of Angel and used to turn Spike human and things had been quiet. For once quiet was good. Spike moved one of the chairs into the corner after he placed it down he stood up and stretched.
“Okay,” Spike said, “Then next time we decided to fight a giant demon army remind me to limber up first.”
Angel smiled
“Don’t think you’re gonna be fighting any armies for a while Spike.”
“What? Because I’m human now? Give me a soddin’ break,” spike retorted, “next thing you want me to do is to gel my hair and start wearing Nancy Boy silk shirts.”
Angel shot him a look but ended up smiling in the end.
“Hey isn’t this the day Charlie boy comes out of hospital?” Spike asked
“Yeah,” Angel replied, “The doctors said he was well enough to come home.”
Spike placed down one of the boxes and looked at Angel curiously.
“You know what I don’t get? How did you know the demons were gonna rush after him and blue?”
Angel stopped clearing the papers in the reception area of the hotel and sighed.
“That’s a really long story.” he replied
Angel continued to tidy up the papers and as he did so he discovered an envelope sitting on the counter. He looked at it curiously. The envelope was addressed to him.
“Hey spike did you see anybody come in while I was out of the room?”
Spike looked at him curiously.
“No I didn’t. Why?”
Angel held up the envelope and showed it to Spike.
“Because I just got some mail.”
Spike stopped shifting furniture and joined him at the counter.
“Who’s it from?” he asked
Angel scanned the envelope.
“No return address.”
Quickly Angel opened the envelope and read the letter inside. A look of intense anger crossed his face which worried Spike.
“What is it Mate?”
Angel turned and looked at Spike.
“I’ve been invited to the grand reopening of Wolfram and Hart Los Angeles.”
“You’re bloody kidding me,” Spike exclaimed as he snatched the letter from Angel’s hand, “Christ they move fast.”
Angel leans on the counter.
“Have to say I’m not entirely surprised.”
“Yeah, but, why invite you?”
“Because they know I won’t come,” Angel replied, “They’re sending me a message.”
“Evil goes on ‘ay?”
“Yeah evil goes on.”
But all was not as it seemed. For the office of Wolfram and Hart had many plans involving many groups but none were more devious then the one aimed squarely at one woman. The woman who was formally known as ‘the key’
Dawn Summers . . .
~ Wolfram and Hart, Los Angeles California – 4 years later ~
Wolfram and Hart was a flurry of activity lawyers running two and fro scheming and planning their evil deeds none more so then Jonas Pena. He was given the reigns of Wolfram and Hart Los Angeles after the previous CEO tried to destroy it and he had a lot of catching up to do and a lot of upset clients to calm down. one of his first major decisions was to appoint a new head of special project. An up and comer known as Judson Fox.
Judson worked for the Chicago branch but was transferred to Los Angeles because of his association with the previous timeline. The Partners made Judson aware of his involvement so that he could make plans to return the apocalypse to where it belonged. For this he needed two things: first he needed to track down a mystical amulet called the Star of Asgeroth. the five pointed star with the jewel in the center was the cause of the second timeline and will also be it undoing. The second thing he needed was going to be a lot trickier to get . . .
“I’m having trouble understanding you plan Judson.” Jonas said as he leaned against his desk flicking through the proposal
“It’s a very simple concept sir,” Judson replied, “I described it clearly in the document.”
“I know that Judson but I don’t understand its purpose.”
“It’s a key element to bringing the apocalypse back. With out it there’s not point in even looking for the star.”
Jonas placed the folder down on his desk and ran his hand through his straight brown hair.
“So let me get this straight,” Jonas replied in a disbelieving tone, “to return the apocalypse to this reality we need to make . . . a girl.”
“Essentially yes.”
“But not just any girl. This girl has to be the daughter of the slayer general’s sister.”
“That’s right.” Judson replied confidently
Jonas studied Judson’s expression for any type of deception. He couldn’t find any. Jonas interlaced his fingers and placed them on his lap.
“I’ve given you a lot of leeway in this office because you’re a man who brings in results,” Jonas explained, “but this is the equivalent of sticking your head in an angry lion’s mouth. what you’re proposing is to kidnap Dawn Summers with out Buffy finding out.”
“I figured you’d have this reaction . . .” Judson replied
He opened his briefcase and handed Jonas another legal document. The CEO read it over. And angry expression crossed his face
“. . . so I made sure I got the partners approval before I brought this to you.”
“you went over my head!” Jonas snapped
“I had to this was too important for you to dismiss it.”
Jonas stood up from his desk and walked over to Judson.
“Let me get something else clear between us Mr. Fox I will not tolerate this kind of insubordination amongst my staff. next time you have a proposal bring it to me first understand!”
“I’ll remember that for the future sir.” Judson replied
“Good,” Jonas replied as he headed back for his desk, “I certainly hope you have a plan. Kidnapping Dawn is not going to go unnoticed.”
“Already set in motion,” Judson replied smugly
Jonas looked up in surprise.
“Really.”
“Yes. It seems that the slayers have put in a proposal of their own. A building permit was lodged with the city a few weeks ago. my intelligence suggests that this is going to be the new headquarters for the Los Angeles Slayer operation.”
“And you think you can take her during its construction?”
Judson smiled.
“Already have a time and a place.”
