To Keep Safe: Try Again

by Quortoth

*I think I could of done better. But eh', the next one will be better I can guarantee that. I didn't get to reread through this story like most, so... Enjoy :-)

“THAT HAS TO BE THE GREATEST MOVIE,” started Rebecca, “The greatest I’ve seen in a long time.”

Wesley was walking Rebecca home from the movies. She had her arm under his, well because she was paranoid they were going to get mugged.

“I’m happy you liked it,” said Wesley.

“I love seeing old movies like Vertigo, Alfred Hitchcock,” she laughed, “I could just watch them over and over and over again. I had never seen that movie but it was so good. Like the birds kind of good and that one with that man in the wheel chair peeping out his window, and sees that murder.”

“I have a vague memory of that one,” sighed Wesley walking her down the sidewalk.

“I just can’t get enough of Alfred Hitchcock,” she smiled.

Wesley laughed, then said, “Or strawberry ice cream. Dancing, Car magazines, Brazilian tribes and babies.”

“I like famous art too, and ballet and the Opera and I never miss an episode of CSI,” laughed Rebecca.

“You know you’re a very interesting young woman,” he laughed.

“I also like candles and books about vampires. Ironic. And I’ve read the medical dictionary 37 times,” she laughed.

“You should write a biography,” said Wesley.

“Oh no one would want to hear about my life,” she said.

“I’d read it 37 times,” he said.

“Why Wesley Wyndam Price I think that’s the sweetest thing someone’s ever said to me,” she replied looking up at him. “I only read that medical dictionary that many times checking to see if I’d caught anything.”

“Still it’s inspiring,” he said.

“I’ve got more abilities to diagnose then a lot of doctors,” she said.

“Tell me, why a nurse?” he asked.

“Actually I’m a temp,” she said, “But I’ve got the credentials I’ve just never wanted to go any farther.”

“I think you’d be a good doctor,” he said, “No, great doctor.”

“Well I was a Urologist for a little while,” she said.

“Urologist?” questioned Wesley, “I don’t quite remember what that is.”

“Well I treated or examined Urinary stuff, mainly guys came in,” she said.

“Really?” asked Wesley.

“I didn’t want that job anymore, I got sick of looking at it,” she stated.

Wesley’s eyes were opened a little wider by that statement, “Alright.”

------------------------------------

WESLEY WALKED REBECCA ALL THE WAY UP TO HER DOOR. She looked to him, “Well I hope we can do that some other time.”

“Of course,” he said.

“Now how do I say bye?” she questioned.

“However you want to,” he said.

“Well most of the time on the third date to two people kiss, but I’ve always waited to half way through the tenth, which is probably why not many boyfriends stayed with me,” Wesley quickly kissed her, she didn’t expect that.

They pulled away and she let a breath out, “Good night,” smiled Wesley.

Rebecca pat him lightly on the head, opened her door, “Good night.”

------------------------------------

EVERYTHING WAS IN BLACK AND WHITE ALL OF A SUDDEN. Maybe not all of the sudden, Wesley was standing in the office of his psychiatrist. Rebecca at her desk. The different patients waiting in the room. Some in uniforms some in regular clothes.

“There’s a lot of patients today,” said Wesley.

“Oh there always is, some of them just wait for eternity,” she said.

“That’s awhile,” said Wesley in agreement.

“I know, I’ve been here the whole time,” she said.

“What about their story?” asked Wesley.

“Well, most of them are just waiting to get the job done,” said Rebecca.

He leaned against the desk, “You think that it’s hard?”

“Maybe,” sighed Rebecca, “But doing the splits can be hard too but I can do them. Want to see?” Someone flashed a coin in Wesley’s eyes, the flash from the light like from the sun, “Well,” she continued, “They have a main goal to what they do, you’re needed.”

------------------------------------

WESLYE WOKE UP SLOWLY. He wiped his eyes, slowly got out of bed. Looked at his clock, it was 8:00am. Good to get a morning start. Wesley went to the bathroom, got himself some coffee. He’d pick up breakfast on the way.

Conner and Emma always liked it when he brought breakfast even if it was raw. Then Conner could cook it. Wesley took his SUV to Angel’s.

------------------------------------

“IT’S NOT ABOUT IT’S INTELLIGENCE!” pointed out Emma.

“Yes it is,” argued Angel.

“Speed can get over on speed every time,” Conner was in the argument.

“That’s not true!” yelled Spike.

There was a fight in the lobby. Family .vs. Family one could say.

“Okay,” started Emma, “The caveman was born to fight even if it was killing by hitting bluntly!”

“But the Astronaut has the upper hand then, they’ll just move out of the way,” argued Conner.

“No!” yelled Spike, “The astronaut will just get tired quicker, if he’s up and running around like a bloody god awful bird. And intelligence has nothing to do with it either, the cave man was bred to kill.”

“They weren’t Spike!” said Angel.

Wesley walked in on the fight, thought he might as well listen to it for a little while.

“Yes they were!” roared Emma, “What matters is that they were born bloody freaking aggressive!”

“So, then the astronaut dodges the blows,” answered Conner.

“Alright lets say the astronaut was born a tree hugger,” replied Spike.

“Still, doesn’t a tree hugger know how to defend themselves?” asked Angel.

“By dodging around like a sodding ballerina?” laughed Emma, “Conner, you and I of all people should understand the caveman.”

“Fine, what if the cave man has a gun?” asked Angel.

Spike and Emma then bother said at the same time, “Bloody not, nether has weapons!” They looked at each other.

“Wes what do you think?” asked Angel.

“Um… I’m just not going to get into it,” answered Wesley setting down the box of donuts in his hand onto the counter of the bar.

“Ooh,” Emma had an idea, “Wesley pretend you’re the astronaut and Angel’s the cave man, Angel attack him.”

“I rather just you know, not fight, how about you guys all call a truce,” said Wesley.

“I think this is all really stupid,” said Emma, “Caveman would win, raised in a hostile environment. Born to protect himself, hunt, kill, he’d win.”

“I’m not going to get into it,” said Wesley, he opened the box and got him a jelly filled donut a napkin around it and sat behind his desk.

Emma jumped up on the counter, grabbed one with strawberry icing and sprinkles, “Cave man.”

Conner folded his arms, like he was a child. Spike got himself a beer out of the frig, “Agree to disagree?” questioned Wes.

“NO,” they all said.

The phone rang on the desk, Spike picked it up, “Angel Investigations?”

Angel went around, “Give me that,” he took the phone from Spike, “Angel Investigations, Angel speaking?”

They all watched him, Conner went grab a donut but Emma smacked his hand. He looked at her, she smiled at him. He went to do it again and grabbed her hand by the wrist before she could smack it. Conner smiled pulling away with a chocolate donut.

“Okay, okay,” said Angel, “Well we’ll be over there. Yes, you sure?” Angel hung up the phone, “We’ve got a case, well, Wesley and I do.”

“No back up?” questioned Conner.

“Nope,” said Angel, “Nothing we can’t handle, Wes get your books. I’ll tell you what we’re doing with on the way.”

------------------------------------

“WHAT ARE WE DEALING WITH?” questioned Wesley.

“Nraldique demon, big one, adult,” said Angel driving his car down the street he blanket over his arm.

“Really, that fast?” questioned Wesley.

“Well he’s been a live 3 hr. so,” began Angel, “We’ve got the weapons, you do the spell and lets kill this thing,” stated Angel.

“I can do that,” he said flipping through his book, “Blanket?”

“Yes,” said Angel, “Right here.”

They pulled over next to a house in the suburbs. Angel put his blanket over his head and Wes handed him a sword. The woman that had called was just thrown out of the front window of her house. She landed on the grass. Wesley ran to her.

“Are you alright?” demanded Wesley.

“It’s,….It’s in my house,” she stuttered.

“Angel through the window!” said Wesley.

Wesley grabbed his book open and started chanting the magic words as the large demon leapt out of the window and the glass of the window floated up into the air as the demon roared. The glass piece then shot forward at Wesley.

Like being stabbed by a knives, the glass hurt. Death was hurting him right then. Wesley heard Angel yell in his ears, yelling his name. Wesley’s eyes closed and he fell to the ground his clothes wet with blood. His heart stopped.

------------------------------------

WESLYE WOKE UP SUDDENLY. He wiped his eyes, slowly got out of bed. Looked at his clock, it was 8:00am. Good to get a morning start. He shook off the dream of his death and got up. Went to the bathroom did his morning routines. Got donuts.

Went to Angel’s.

------------------------------------

WESLEY WALKED INTO THE LOBBY.

“Um…” began Wesley finding this freakishly familiar, “Caveman.”

“What?!” demanded Angel, “Come on?”

“Emma, you’re going to get yourself a strawberry sprinkled donut, and Conner a chocolate one, I got myself one,” he sat that down on the table, “Emma’s going to smack Conner’s hand when he gets his, smile at him and try it again-”

“O….K,” said Emma.

“Something’s going on,” said Wesley, “A woman is going to call about a demon in her house. And it’s turns out it’s an adult and then I was killed and now I’m here.”

“You sure?” asked Conner.

“Yes, quite so, this morning up until I said I agree with the caveman side of the conversation things have been the same as they were in my dream,” said Wesley.

“You think you’re going to die?” asked Spike calmly.

“I don’t know, I’ve got to go get something,” said Wesley.

“Wait, Wes, if you’re supposed to die today what if something happens while you’re gone?” asked Angel.

“Just don’t go to that woman’s house till I return,” said Wesley going towards the door.

“Angel got a good point,” said Spike but too late Wesley was already out the door.

------------------------------------

WESLEY GOT HIMSELF TO A MAGIC SHOP, he bought something very pivotal to the saving of that woman. Pivotal to him saving that woman, himself and anyone else that would have gotten hurt.

He had went into the magic shop bought the item and was on his way back to his SUV. A woman talking on her phone was heading across the street as he looked up from his locked door. The woman was going to be hit by a bus.

Wesley jumped out into the road and pushed the woman out of the way and was suddenly hit by the bus. He felt his insides be thrown apart. He felt glass, tasted the glass itself. His head hurt. Wes felt himself thump against something hard and stated concrete and blood in his mouth.

His head really hurt. Wesley was quite dizzy, disgruntled and sleepy. He saw people gather around him. Saw blood on his hand as he picked it up and looked at it. There was a loud ringing in his ears. His vision faded and he felt faint everything turning dark around him.

Heart stopped.

------------------------------------

EVERYTHING WAS BLACK AND WHITE AGAIN. He was standing with Rebecca again in the doctor’s office. That coin shined in his eyes. He looked at Rebecca, “What were you saying?”

“You don’t believe me?” she asked, “Prove it for yourself.” She cocked a rifle at her desk.

“I don’t think proof will give me hope,” said Wesley.

“Oh, come on Wes,” said Rebecca, “Prove it to yourself.” Rebecca handed him the rifle over the top of the desk.

Wesley took it.

------------------------------------

SUDDENLY WESLEY WOKE UP. He was laying in his bed again, “Dear lord,” he said to himself. Then he stood up and went to his closet in nothing but jeans. Opened up the hall closet door and pulled out a 12 gage. Then he looked at it, grabbed the bullets loaded it.

“Alright, prove it to myself,” he just looked at the rifle, did something stupid.

He looked down the barrel, his hand was shaking a little. Wesley put his finger against the trigger and ‘boom’!

------------------------------------

WESLEY SUDDENLY WOKE UP. He grabbed his head automatically, he sat up, “Alright, I’m just going to get a headache from thinking of that.” Wesley stood up, looked at the clock, 8:00am.

He got his clothes on quickly talking to himself while he put his shirt on, “Woman going to get hit by bus at 8:57. Woman with demon, I die at 9:15.” He put his belt on then went into his living room quickly with his shoes, looked at his watch, “8:04 a.m. Now I’ve got to go see that that woman doesn’t get killed, Call Angel while on the way. I do not need that magical object if I go now.”

------------------------------------

WESLEY PARKED HIS CAR BY THE WOMAN’S HOUSE. The woman with the demon that killed him. He grabbed his sword, “Emma,” said Wesley, “There’s a woman that will get hit by a bus at 8: 57, a.m. not p.m.” He waited for her reply, “I know that’s very soon, you or Conner need to go to that magic shop,” he heard her reply as he walked towards the woman’s house, “Yes that one. Watch for a blonde woman to cross the road while one of those large gray hounds are coming down the street.”

Wes shook his head as he went up the woman’s side walk, “NO, no, I mean the bus, not the dog. Do whatever you can to prevent her from going across the road. Bye.”

He hung up his cell phone and put it in his pocket and went to the woman’s door. He knocked on it and the woman came to the door, “Yes?”

“I’m Wesley Wyndam Pryce and I’m with Angel Investigations, I don’t quite know how to say this but you have a wild demon in you house that at 9:15 will kill me and possibly you, I need to slay it,” He stood there firmly.

“Are you on drugs sir?” she questioned.

“What?” asked Wesley, “No, I just know it’s going to happen.”

“Alright,” she went to close the door.

Wesley put his foot in the way, “Ma’am, I need to check the home,” he looked around and saw some purple slime in the shrubbery next to the house, “Ma’am by the look of that slime there the demon is already about ready to hatch, now please let me in to search you house.”

“Sure,” said the woman, she was confused but that slime was very convincing, “Just don’t touch anything.”

“I’m sure me touching anything is the least of our worries,” said Wesley, he walked in with the woman.

------------------------------------

“TELL ME I’M NOT CRAZY,” said a disheveled man in Angel’s office with Angel.

“Explain this again, you’ve been relieving this morning over and over again?” questioned Angel.

“Yes, that’s what I’ve been saying the entire time,” said the man like he was getting annoyed, “I Don’t understand it. It’s going to drive me crazy if I’m not already.”

“Luther, we’ll do whatever we can to figure out the answer to the problem,” said Angel.

“Please, quickly before I’m doing this again, cause I don’t think blowing my brains out is going to help,” said Luther.

Emma ran in, “Uh oh.”

Angel looked at her, “What uh oh?”

“Uh oh, Conner’s on the news,” said Emma.

“Well that’s not just some uh oh, that’s fine, what’d he doing-” stated Angel.

“NO, not fine, he’s on the news for getting hit by a bus,” said Emma outraged.

“Damn it,” growled Angel.

“Someone got hit by a bus?” questioned Luther.

“Duh,” said Emma.

Angel, Luther, and Emma went back into the lobby where Spike was watching the news. Conner was being asked questions. Conner was looking a little hostile. Or just uncomfortable. He was surrounded by a bunch and a bunch of people.

“How did you do that?” demanded a reporter.

“Um…” said Conner.

“Tell us,” said the reporter, she looked to the screen, “Lets replay that footage.”

A little screen became big in the first one. A woman was walking across the street when Conner threw her down and out of the way and the bus hit him. Conner went through the bus being prepared for the blow. The bus stopped in it’s tracks.

“We have before us a true super man,” said the reporter.

“Um..” said Conner the lights of cameras flashing in his eyes.

“This is not good,” said Emma, “Not good.”

“You’re right,” said Angel.

Wesley walked into the room purple slime on his sword nothing else, “This day is pretty messed up,” he said.

“Angel’s boy Conner got caught by the T.V. cameras getting hit by a bus!” laughed Spike.

“Shit,” said Wesley, “Oh, no, that’s my fault.”

“And we’ve got a case,” said Angel, “This man here is reliving the same day over and over again.”

Wes’ eyes opened wide, “So am I,” said Wes.

“Good so I’m not so crazy,” said Luther, “Luther Timmons.”

“Wesley Wyndam Pryce,” said Wesley, “This is a lead.”

“Conner can’t be seen on T.V. here,” said Emma, “We don’t like the idea of Conner being put in a lab seeing is that he’s not getting away very well.”

A man in a suite walked into the Lobby, they didn’t pay much attention to him till the man took out a gun and shot Luther. But nothing was done in time and everything went black.

------------------------------------

WESLEY QUICKLY OPENED HIS EYES TO SEE THAT THE CLOCK READ. “8:00,” he said, he stood up out of the bed and went directly into the morning routine, save a woman, save another woman, save Luther Timmons and make sure Conner doesn’t get on T.V. for getting hit by the bus.

Wes had his work cut out for him. Had to think up a way to do everything, “I should got to the magic shop and get that item so I don’t ever have to reveal to that woman she’s got a demon In her house so she doesn’t get angry with me for cutting her couch in half.”

Wesley put his shoes on, “While I’m heading to the magic shop I’ll call Angel and them to save that woman from getting hit by a bus. Can’t use Conner or Emma, unless.”

------------------------------------

WESLEY SPED DOWN THE STREET IN HIS SUV. He was on the phone, “Emma, alright, I’ve got something for you to do,” he had a lap top on the seat next to him, he pressed a button, “I need you to call this woman, March Reelom, okay. Pretend you’re a telemarketer.”

He listened to Emma’s reply while watching the road, “I don’t care you’re going to watch Jerry Springer reruns, I know you think they’re funny. Now this woman is going to get hit by a bus at 8:48. Call her and do whatever you can to get her to stay away from the road.” He heard another reply, “Stay at home, look in the phone book for her phone number,” He listened to Emma, “Well I’d give it to you if I had her phone number and I know you can read that book faster then most of us.”

“Oh,” he parked next to the sidewalk while Emma spoke to him, “Now you ask me what a telemarketer is, they’re like that man that calls and you scream in the phone when he tries to sell you stuff.” He stepped out of the car and walked towards the magic shop, “No Emma, I don’t think she’ll scream over the phone at you because most people aren’t you and choose not to scream.”

He hung up. Wesley went towards the Magic shop, Rebecca was there. He smiled at her through the window, then just walked on in. She was waiting next to the counter with a cart of stuff, a couple of people away from the clerk.

“Hi Wes,” she smiled.

“Hi,” said Wesley hoping these people would speed up, “I’m on a case.”

“Well I just said Hi is all,” said Rebecca.

“Oh, no it’s much appreciated, I’m just living the same day over and over and over again till something happens and it’s just making me a little grouchy,” said Wesley.

“Oh,” she sighed, “Well,” she moved up a person, “I’m glad it’s not my fault.”

“Doing a spell?” he asked looking into her bag.

“Not really, much, it’s all part of a security spell, never can be too cautious about burglars,” smiled Rebecca.

“I see,” smiled Wesley, “I should get some security spells for my place.”

“Well, if you ever need a spell I’ve always been one to ask for spells,” said Rebecca.

Wesley looked across the way, out the window, that woman was sitting in a diner. She was talking on her cell phone.

------------------------------------

THE WOMAN WAS YELLING IN THE PHONE. “NO, I DON’T WANT TO BUY A LIGHT BULB!!” She hung her phone up and then it rang again and the woman answered it again, “Hello?”

------------------------------------

EMMA WAS ON THE OTHER END, “Bloody hell, no wonder you were supposed to get hit by a bus you bleeding fool. You keep picking up the phone when I call.” She listened to the woman’s loud answer about calling her stupid, “Are you blonde?” asked Emma, she was pacing, “Oh, you are? Well I’ve just saved your life,” said Emma distastefully, “And from now on you cow, don’t pick up the phone after 13 calls expecting someone different, cause that just makes you sounds stupid.” Emma hung up.

------------------------------------

THE BUS HAD PASSED THE DINER AND THE WOMAN WAS SAFE, at least as far as Wes was concerned. Wesley felt relived, he had his jewel in hand to go slay that demon with great ease, then get back to that Luther. Wesley stood next to Rebecca, “So do you need any help, Clearien crystals can be tricky.”

“I think I’ll have it just fine, I just need to get back to the hotel by 9: 45,” said Wesley looking at his watch.

She looked at his watch, “9:12, you’re on good time,” said Rebecca.

“I wish this line would go faster, I may be too late for that lady,” said Wesley, he sighed, “She’s probably already been thrown out the window. Killed even.”

------------------------------------

ANGEL ON FIRE LEAPT INTO THE HOUSE. Conner threw the demon back into the house. Angel went to stab the thing but it jumped out of the way, all of it and it’s purple skin. It roared angrily.

The demon leapt up as Angel tried to kick it off it’s feet. The demon landed over the couch and flipped the couch up. Angel ducked out of the way and the demon jumped out of the window. Conner then leapt back out the window and followed the demon down the road.

Conner’s eyes went yellow and he swiftly caught up with that thing and threw it down on the ground. He punched it in the face and slime spewed on Conner. Conner yelled in pain from the slime. The demon jumped up and took off while Conner laid in the road his face burning from the slime.

------------------------------------

WESLEY WAS GETTING KING OF ANGRY AT THE SLOW MOVEMENT OF THE LINE. Rebecca got her stuff through quickly and then Wesley did, but not quickly enough. Suddenly there was gun fire. From in the back room out came mobster like men with machine guns.

The glass was behind shot, Wesley grabbed Rebecca and went down. Rebecca screamed. One of the other customers were shot, then another. Then another. There was no getting away for those people.

Rebecca and Wes gripped each other’s hand and ran out of the store. There were other out there watching for them. They quickly got into there cars as Wesley and Rebecca got into Wes’ SUV.

Wesley took out his keys as the mobsters in front of him were starting to come out the car in front of them. Rebecca pulled a gun out of her purse. She started firing out the window at them. Shooting them in the knee or something, not fatally.

“You have a gun?!” demanded Wesley starting the SUV.

“Don’t you?” asked Rebecca getting the gun ready for more blows.

“Yeah but, you have a gun,” said Wesley amazed.

“DRIVE!” screamed Rebecca.

Wesley quickly pulled out and drove down the road. Rebecca was sitting there breathing in and out slowly holding the gun up at the ceiling. Wes was just going to keep driving quickly back to Angel’s.

“I’m very happy I came upon you or I would have died today,” said Fred.

“Nothing saying you haven’t already,” replied Wesley.

“Okay, still getting used to that,” she turned around and looked out the window, “They’re not following us.”

“Thank god,” said Wesley, “Rebecca.”

“Yes Wesley?” she asked in her sweet little voice.

“Next time you do something like that, warn me,” said Wesley.

“I carry a pocket knife and mace,” she said, “But of course you knew that mace part. Pepper spray stuff.”

Wesley looked at her amazed then back at the road, “Definitely an interesting young woman.”

“I spent a year in the army but my grandpa got me out of it with favors because I felt that the drill sergeant was giving me low self esteem,” stated Rebecca quickly.

------------------------------------

CONNER AND ANGEL CAME INTO THE LOBBY FROM THE BASEMENT. Emma looked at them, “What happened?”

“You guys look like you’ve been to hell and back,” said Spike sitting on the counter.

Conner and Angel looked weak, Conner’s face was healed except for a little sign of redness from the burning slime, “It got away,” he spoke.

“We’ll get it,” replied Emma.

“What time is it?” asked Angel.

“9: 30,” said Angel.

A man stepped into the Lobby, “Um…This Angel Investigations?”

“Do you need help?” asked Spike, “That’s what we’re here for last time I check.”

The disgruntled Luther Timmons, 5’8”, brown hair, balding though and the messy suite.

------------------------------------

WESLEY PARKED WITH REBECCA AT 9:44 A.M. They got up Wesley and Rebecca ran into the Lobby. The man stood in the lobby. Not Luther then one with the gun. Spike was talking with him, “So what’s your problem?”

“NO!!” yelled Wesley he jumped on the man, Luther came out of the office. The man’s gun went into the air and Wesley tackled the man officially. The gun went off and got Spike.

Spike went over in pain. Angel and Emma hurried out. Wesley wrestled the gun out of the mobster’s hands. Rebecca pulled out hers and accidentally shot Wesley in the knee, “Oh, Wes!!” she replied to his yell of pain as he punched the mobster, “I’m sorry.”

Emma healed Spike and then turned towards Wesley. Conner went over to Wesley as Wesley strangled the mobster, punched him again. Conner took the mobster away from Wesley and head butted the mobster.

The enemy was out cold on the floor. Conner healed Wes’ wound. “Oh I’m so sorry,” said Rebecca.

“Who are you people?” demanded Luther.

“Super heroes,” said Spike, “Either that or target practice.”

“Wes I’m so sorry I shot you,” said Rebecca.

“Just put away the gun,” said Angel.

“Oh, okay,” she said in a chipper way, she put the gun back in her purse after turning on the safety.

“Alright,” said Wesley, “Everything from here on out, anything could happen, I never got this far.”

“Huh?” asked Angel.

“Percy here has been suffering from a major case of the overs,” said Emma.

“Again,” began Angel, “I say ‘Huh?’”

“I’ve been experiencing the same thing, same day over and over again,” said Wesley.

“Me too,” said Luther.

“Back in my other world we’ve already established that quite well,” said Wesley, “Well at least until this man killed you and I started over again up to now.”

“We should ask that man what he wants,” said Conner looking at the man he head butted.

“Smart thinking,” said Angel.

“So this guy wanted to kill me?” asked Luther.

They looked at him, “Duh,” said Spike.

“Hey, I’m just getting used to being some kind of celebrity,” stated Luther.

------------------------------------

THE MAN THAT HAD BEEN KNOCKED OUT SLOWLY WOKE UP. Then he started getting jittery, “What the hell?!”

“Told you putting Ice in his pants would work,” laughed Emma sitting on the counter.

“Don’t worry, it’ll melt,” said Angel.

“Oh god it’s cold,” said the man trying to get out of his chair.

“You’re tied in bloody tight, you won’t be escaping anytime soon,” stated Spike.

They were all in the room, even Rebecca who the man looked at in a certain way. Like he knew her. Rebecca just looked at him like meeting a normal person or something.

“What do you want?” demanded the man.

“Why do you want to kill me?” asked Luther.

“Let us do the questions asking,” said Emma, “Some people have been trained to divert your questions.”

“What do you want this man?” demanded Wesley.

“Truthfully, I’ve been hired to kill him by my mob boss who in no time will be killing everyone of you and guess what, there’s nothing that the cops can do,” said the man.

“You seem to me like a man of self,” said Wesley, “And what would you think if I told you that we had many hundreds of years of torture knowledge here.”

“I could just close my eyes real tight,” said the man.

“Not if you didn’t have anymore eyelids,” hissed Emma.

“Still, I could pretend,” said the man.

“What did I do, I don’t ever hurt anyone, nothing,” said Luther.

“Ever had any legal problems?” questioned the man.

“Legal, well I did file a law suite once,” said Luther.

The Angel gang looked at each other, Spike spoke: “Do you think?”

“I don’t think there’s any of them to make a come back,” said Angel, “Wolfram and Hart, no.”

“It’s always possible, we don’t know what state the Senior Partners were put in,” replied Wesley.

“So are you going to kill me or not?” asked the man.

“Not yet,” said Angel.

“Good to know,” said the man.

“Why so happy?” asked Emma, “Do you think that you have some great weapon against us.”

“I’ve got friends in low places,” said the man.

“Like in the Godfather?” asked Conner.

“Yeah son,” said the man.

“He’s got the mouth of a Wolfram & Hart worker,” said Spike, “And pisses you off half as bad.”

“We need to get to this man’s boss,” said Wesley.

“I agree,” replied Rebecca her hands folded over her chest.

The man looked at her, that way again.

------------------------------------

“I USED TO WORK AT WOLFRAM & HART,” sighed Rebecca standing next to Wesley in his office, “2yrs.”

“Where at?” asked Wesley.

“Yours,” she said, “Nothing big though, I left once your team asked me to kill a child.”

“Oh, I’m sorry, that must not haven’t been my order,” said Wesley looking out of Angel’s office to the man. Luther was out there with the others.

“I don’t blame you,” sighed Rebecca, “I’ve always been one to mess up my own fate I guess.”

“How’s that, you haven’t messed up your own fate,” said Wesley, “You’re smart, it’s not messed up.”

“I’m almost thirty, not like I’m just have all the time in the world,” she sighed.

“I think you’ll do great,” said Wesley.

“I’m going to no doubt loose my job, I’ve always aspired for more but never got much,” said Rebecca, “Decided my own fate.”

“At least we know we can,” said Wesley leaning against the desk. Rebecca sat next to him.

“That’s what my psychic tells me all the time,” said Rebecca, Wesley looked at her, “Just kidding.”

He smiled at her, “I’m still waiting for this day to rewind itself.”

“Well I’m not, I guess I don’t really know how it feels,” she said softly.

“Maybe yes,” Wesley looking into her large green eyes edged his face closer to hers, “Or maybe not,” he kissed her finally.

Rebecca and Wesley held lips for a long moments, the moment slow. She placed her hand softly on his cheek and kept kissing him. Wesley didn’t go against her.

The moment quickly ended with the sounds of guns going off. Emma slowly drew her knife and sliced the hostage’s throat. “EMMA!” yelled Spike.

“He was evil,” said Emma as the guns fired.

Emma grabbed Luther and ran him towards the basement. Wesley and Rebecca pulled apart quickly and they ran into the Lobby. Angel pulled a sword out of the weapons cabinet and stabbed one of the shooters. Emma was getting shot, Spike was, Conner was.

Rebecca and Wesley made it for the basement. Luther with them. Wesley had his gun, and Rebecca seemed like the kind of woman that wouldn’t go anywhere but an airport without it. Or a bank.

They ran into the sewer way. Wesley closed the door behind him and drew his gun. “What about the others?!” demanded Luther.

“They’ll be fine, two of them heal real fast,” said Wesley.

Rebecca had her gun drawn and was being extra careful. They ran quickly walked down the sewer ways, “Go towards the subways we can leave town. It’s up to us now to keep Luther safe.”

They kept going, stomping following them, “Thanks man,” said Luther.

“I know somewhere we can go,” said Rebecca.

“Alright, once in the subway, lead us,” said Wesley, “We don’t want to try reliving this at this point.”

------------------------------------

THE MOBSTERS WERE QUICKLY FOLLOWING BEHIND. Wesley and them ran through the subway boarding area, armed. People were jumping out of the way and running for their lives after seeing the guns. Especially the mobsters.

Wesley, Rebecca and Luther made towards one of the subway cars. Luther was shot in the arm. Wesley turned around and fired back. Rebecca shoved Luther into subway car getting down with Wesley as the Mobsters started firing repeated rounds from their automatic rifles, machine guns and the like.

Rebecca shot out of nowhere and got one in the leg. The glass of the subway car window’s was flying down upon them. Wesley shot out and got two of them in the chest, “I’m not doing too good,” said Luther holding his arm.

“We’ll get you somewhere with medical supplies,” said Rebecca looking to him.

The subway car’s doors started to close. The firing didn’t stop they took there breaths and Wesley took off his jacket, “Put pressure on the wound.”

“Talking to a doctor here,” said Rebecca.

“Boy, aren’t I lucky?” asked Luther.

------------------------------------

ANGEL WITH HIS VAMPIRE FACE ON PUSHED DOWN ONE OF THE MEN AND SNAPPED HIS NECK. His face turned back. Emma threw down another.

“Where’s Wes and Rebecca, and Luther?” asked Angel.

“He ran off,” said Spike.

“We should find him,” said Angel.

“No, then those mobsters will follow,” said Emma, “They’ll know that we’d go to find Wes, to find out if he’s alright.”

“Fine, we need to figure out then, who’s the mobsters and what do they want with Wesley and Luther,” said Angel.

------------------------------------

THE DOOR OF THE WAITING ROOM WAS OPENED. It was dark inside the demon psychiatry office. No one in there obviously. Rebecca had unlocked the door and they went in there. Rebecca locked it behind them, “This place isn’t very big and we have spells all around the place so that no one will find the patients that are here at the time.”

“Good, it should be suffice,” said Wesley, “We need first aid.”

“Don’t I know it,” said Luther looking at his arm, “I normally don’t faint at the sight of blood but..”

Wesley went over to him, “Just sit down Mr. Timmons, we’ll have that bullet out in no time.”

“You should be happy that the least they did was shoot you in the arm,” said Rebecca, “At least they didn’t shoot you in the head 15 times a second then take your body or skin and wear it for a hat,” she had been talking paranoid, they got quiet, “Oh, childhood thing in Utah.”

“I feel pretty lucky now,” said Luther.

Rebecca went behind her desk and pulled out a first aid kit. She went over to Luther, “Now I’m not a fan of being gentle when it comes to this kind of stuff.”

------------------------------------

AFTER THEY CLEANED UP LUTHER’S ARM FROM THE BULLET THEY HAD TO JUST FIGURE OUT WHAT WAS GOING TO HAPPEN. Wesley didn’t have any books here, he could take the chance of calling Angel, or could he. They were just mainly waiting for something to come to mind.

Luther slept on the couch in the office of Wesley’s Psychiatrist and Wesley sat in the waiting room with Rebecca. Wesley leaned his elbows on his knees putting his hands on his face, “I didn’t sign on for dodging bullets, I signed on to save lives.”

“Maybe dodging bullets is part of saving lives,” suggested Rebecca.

“Something I don’t see automatically there,” sighed Wesley.

Rebecca folded her arms over her chest, “I’ll do whatever I can to help you out.”

“That’s good,” said Wesley, “Right now, truthfully I don’t know what to do.”

“Well, I guess that’s what all the big heroes think when they first start going against the problem,” said Rebecca.

“I know this, I’m supposed to help Luther,” said Wesley.

“See you do know something,” said Rebecca.

Wesley stood up and walked into the office, “Luther, are you awake?”

“No,” said Luther.

“I’ve got a few questions,” said Wesley.

Rebecca nicely closed the door of the room. She wasn’t in it. Luther sat up and looked at Wesley, “What?”

“I was wondering, what did you sue Wolfram & Hart for?” asked Wesley.

“They killed my wife,” said Luther, “I had evidence and everything. I could of prove them wrong and sued them for all the money in the world, but I backed out and my Lawyer tried to have me killed.”

“He worked with Wolfram & Hart?” asked Wesley.

“As it turns out,” said Luther, “And not by some mob. By a bunch of trained folk, looked like military.”

“Wolfram & Hart have their own league of military ops,” sighed Wesley.

“Well I didn’t get killed by them,” said Luther, “Teach them, so I was going to sue them back in 2004 for that kind of fraud.”

“Alright,” said Wesley.

“No matter what Wesley, never believe someone who’s worked at Wolfram & Hart. For all you know they could still be doing just that. Underground or something,” said Luther.

“I used to work at Wolfram &Hart,” said Wesley.

“Well you also saved my ass,” said Luther, “So I guess you’re okay in my book.”

“So they’re just trying to kill you because you sued them,” suggested Wesley.

“That’s all I know,” said Luther.

“Alright, you can sleep if you want,” said Wesley leaving the room.

Wesley went into the waiting room. Thinking about everything he’s witnessed. He went to Rebecca, “Rebecca?”

She was sitting on a couch in the waiting room reading a magazine, “Yes?” she asked chipper, smiling.

“Are you still working for Wolfram & Hart?” asked Wesley.

“What?” she asked, “No, Wolfram & Hart is gone Wes,” said Rebecca.

“I never told you it was,” said Wesley.

“But the building being gone, that was all over the news Wes,” said Rebecca, “All the buildings being, why Wes?”

“How can I believe that?” asked Wesley.

“Come on Wesley, what’s with this?” asked Rebecca.

“That mobster,” said Wesley calmly, “He looked at you a certain way.”

“Why, I don’t know why,” said Rebecca, then it kind of hit her, “I think I turned him down about sex in college maybe.”

“But he’s dead now, can’t ask him about that,” said Wesley.

“What’s this Wes, what’s going on?” demanded Rebecca.

“I just was wondering,” he took a breath, “I don’t remember ever seeing you at Wolfram & Hart, and besides the building just because it’s gone doesn’t mean you aren’t working underground to bring it back.”

“I have only told you that I used to work there, nothing to make you distrust me, what’s all this?!” her eyes were filling with tears, “I like you Wes, what’s going on?!”

“Rebecca, I didn’t say I just stopped trusting you, I was just asking, making sure,” he felt that it was automatic, that he needed to explain himself.

“Really?” she asked breathing, “I’ve always been the paranoid one, not the other.”

“I can believe you Rebecca,” said Wesley, “Just people are hard to trust. We have to keep Luther safe from the mobsters of wherever.”

“Okay,” she swallowed. Wesley went to Rebecca, “I have a feeling that I should trust you. You’re a very interesting young woman that I don’t know much about.”

“WESLEY!!” screamed Rebecca.

There was the loud sound of a gun shot. Ringing in Wesley’s ears. He turned around slowly, Luther was behind him with a gun in the air. Wesley looked down, Rebecca screaming. Wes saw his blood drip on the floor.

Luther pulled the trigger again.

------------------------------------

WESLEY WAS SITTING IN THE BLACK AND WHITE WAITING ROOM AGAIN. Talking to Rebecca, “Am I going to have to do all that again?”

“When the bullet goes through the chest,” said Rebecca, “Check him.”

That coin flashed in Wes’ eye, he looked to the man, Luther.

“Stop hurting me,” said Wesley forcefully, “I don’t need it.”

“Luther Timmons is a bad man,” said Rebecca.

“I see that,” said Wesley, “Especially if he’d stop flashing that coin in my eyes.”

“The coin,” said Rebecca.

“Just above the heart,” said Wesley, “Aim well.”

Luther slid the coin in his suite pocket soundlessly. Wesley licked his lips watching Luther leave the room, “Check him,” said Rebecca forcefully.

------------------------------------

WESLEY’S HEAD THROBBED AS HE WAS THROWN INTO REALITY. He didn’t wake up in his bed, he woke up on the floor of the doctor’s office. “WES!!” screamed Rebecca, “You fainted!” she came over to him and helped him up.

“I…I have to do something,” Wesley said shaking, holding her arms, he looked quickly at his watch.

Suddenly he pushed down Rebecca and rolled out of the way of the shot. Luther then shot the floor. Wesley stood up quickly, he ran at Luther and kicked the gun from Luther’s hands and pushed him into the office of the psychiatrist.

Rebecca came into the room quickly armed with the gun, “DON’T!” yelled Wesley, he pushed down Rebecca as Luther came back around with another gun.

She shot the couch, “I have to do this,” said Wesley quickly. She looked up to him, “Don’t get hurt.”

Luther shot towards them. Wesley took the gun from Rebecca and fired at Luther, Luther jumped back down behind the couch. Wes went towards Luther firing at him.

Wes jumped down out of the way of a bullet and Rebecca was firing the gun she shot Luther in the knee, “See I’m not going to kill him!”

Luther went down. Wesley grabbed the gun out of Luther hands and with the gun he had, Wesley shot Luther in the heart. Would of done the head but too many chances he’d get his head out of the way at the distance that he was in with Wesley.

He went down on the ground blood running down his chest. Wesley pulled his coat off and look in the pocket, coin in there, over his heart, but not up far enough, “Check him.”

“Huh?” asked Rebecca.

Wesley then ripped open the dead man’s shirt, there was that symbol. The one under ground in that place where the boy was killed the circle with the arrow in it. The sign of The Descendants, “This isn’t the end, there’s more to this.”
