The Five People Angel Meets In Heaven: The end
by Icequeen
Sorry for the long delay. Been very busy, hope this make up for it! Also sorry it's short, It will get more in depth and longer next time.
Angel's last day on Earth was like any other. Maybe if he knew that his days were up, he would have done something other than go to work. But all things happen for a reason.
One hour to live. Angel was sitting at his desk when he heard a knock at his door. He glanced up, and saw Will.
"Will, come in." Angel continued to scrawl his signature on papers.
"Uh...someone wants to see you." Will glanced behind him uneasily. "She says that she knows you and you guys use to work together." Angel looked up. "Hey, how come you never told me you use to be a lawyer?"
"I-I. I never was." Angel responded hoarsely.
"Angel. I'm disappointed that you would lie like that." A woman had made her way past Will and smirked. "Wow, looks like Pinocchio became a real boy in the end."
Angel stared in disbelief. "Lilah?"
"The one and only." Lilah looked at Will. "Could you give the boss and me a moment?"
Will glanced at Angel. "Angel?"
"Leave Will."
"But-" Will protested. He didn't get the right vibe from this Lilah woman,
"Do it." Angel insisted.
As Will left, Lilah kept smiling at Angel. "Come on. Do it." She tempted. "At least ask the million dollar question racing through that small brain of yours."
"Wh-How?"
"My contract doesn't end until I fulfill my job." Lilah said. "Looks like there's another Apocalypse coming and I'm needed." Lilah walked over and sat on the edge of Angel's desk.” It’s not going to be here in awhile. Don't worry your little heart out. So I thought I'd pay an old friend a visit."
"Get out." Angel said harshly. “I don't want to see your face around here."
"Oh, I'll leave. Just wanted to see it first hand. The great Angel, human." Lilah mocked.
"You didn't think I'd get it." It was more of a statement than a question. Angel looked intently at her.
"Yes. Yes, I did." She said, suddenly finding interest into the loose threading of her skirt.
"What's the real reason you came Lilah?” Angel queried. "Shouldn't you be planning a ritual or kidnapping mystical children?"
"I'm kind of disappointed." Lilah stated " Didn't even find redemption, yet here you are." She gestured towards Angel. "Isn't this cheating? Well, cheating gets you nowhere, because it looks like you lost."
Angel glared at Lilah." What are you talking about? Who cares if I didn't become human from shanshuing?"
Lilah smirked, "Apparently you do become senile at old age. Angel, you were suppose to save the world, then shanshu...looks like this coming apocalypse was your calling card. But," Lilah sighed dramatically, " I'm guessing you wont be here long enough, see the apocalypse is going to happen in about twenty years."
Angel in his old age of brooding had thought of that, but he, and so did the others, thought that he had finally deserved it. After all the fighting, the Powers that Be must have made a mistake. But now with this new evidence and proof, turns out they were mistaken.
"No." Was all he could get out.
Angel woke up the shrilling of something nearby. It took him a moment to realize it was his phone, and another that it was 7:47. He had been sleeping for only a couple of hours after doing his routine sweeps of L.A. He rolled out of his satin bed, cautious of what a phone call at this hour could mean.
"Angel."
"Angel? Great, because I didn't know you were awake or even home. Wait, this is your cell phone so, you would have it with you anyway, but I don't know, I heard that you were techno-challenged-"
"Willow? Did you have another coffee filled night?" Angel questioned. He wondered why she would be calling him at such weird hours. Maybe she was drunk.
"Hey watch it. This night was in honor of you. And it wasn't coffee it was tea and I'm just jibbery because I'm excited." Willow replied.
He could tell she was smiling on the other end. Then he heard on the other end, 'Just tell Deadboy already.' Joined with, 'Yes, please do Willow.' "Xander and Giles are with you? I thought Xander was in Ireland?"
Willow ignored Angel and shouted, "You can't call him that any longer Xander! "
"Willow." Angel said patiently, "As nice as it is talking to you, why did you call?"
"Oh, well see, Xander came back from Ireland, and he found this ancient book, He gave it to Giles, who gave it to me, and voila. An emergency research night." Willow paused. "I mean you deserve it more than anyone. We all agree on that. Actually it was Xander and Giles who came up with the idea from what they found in the book." Willow paused. "Angel, we found a way to make you human."
Angel stared at the phone in shock, and felt his hand go numb, dropping the phone.
"Angel?" Willow called. "Angel? We want you to come to England immediately, today....Angel?"
"Get out. Now." He gritted through his teeth. He stood up. "There's the door, and let it hit you on your way out."
"Calm down." Lilah stood up from his desk and smoothed out her skirt. "I was just leaving anyway. Don’t want the reek of failure to linger on me."
Angel watched as she left. 'Great, just another thing to brood on.' He now had to ponder the thoughts Lilah planted in his head about his destiny. And why she was back. Again.
Twenty-two minutes to live. Will and Angel were the only ones in the break room since business was slow, others either working or having left for the day. The break room had a round table with six chairs surrounding it. An old yellow couch that was loosing it's stitching and missing some cover. A six inch TV was sitting atop a shelf in the corner aside a wilting fern.
"So Will, how are your parents?" Angel asked. He wanted to get his mind off of the events that happened earlier.
"They're great. They just visited some friends in Manchester." Will answered.” They said, I quote; now William, we've found a fetching young lady that is perfectly suitable. Which means, we’ve found a girl that is royal and rich enough to marry into."
Angel chuckled, "I hope you told them about Amy."
"Yeah," Will sighed. "Man, I wished I saw their faces."
"What? They didn't like that fact that she was a farm girl?" Angel mocked surprise. "Trust me Will, when you find love you've got to hold onto it. Every moment counts..."
"Oh, here we go."
"What?"
"It's the look. The old man look, where he broods about life. Which I must say you've got down pat." Will joked.
"We'll, I've had a lot of practice."
16 minuets to live. Angel was getting ready to close for the night. He was making his last sweep over the place, making sure nothing was out of place and no one was going to be locked in. Angel use to do sweeps over cities saving people, now he was doing sweeps in an auto repair shop. "Will?"
"Yeah, I just finished cleaning the engine of the red Mazda. Wanted to finish it tonight." Will walked through the door and stopped halfway through. "See you when the roosters call." It was his usual good-bye. Joking about how "early" they had to get up to open the shop.
Angel smiled and shooed him out. "Go and party the night away like a young person is suppose to." He locked up the door and started walking towards his apartment. He walked slow and faltering. There was nothing waiting for him except a chicken Alfred TV dinner and more brooding.
Three minutes to live. Angel was deep in thoughts when he heard an old familiar sound. It was the sound of fear. Angel listened closer and realization hit him. It was Ann. He immediately ran, miraculously feeling like his old older self, sprinting as fast as he could. He stopped at the opening of the alley, catching his breath. What he saw didn't help.
Ann was being cornered by a vampire.
"HEY!" Angel yelled as loud as he could. Hoping to get the vampire's attention, also hoping a new Slayer had arrived and was around. The vampire turned around and snarled at Angel and started towards him.
"Ann, run home now!" He commanded. She stayed rooted to where she was. "Now!" He yelled at her. He couldn't get anymore out as the vampire tried to swing at him, but Angel had a cross on him, as always. The vampire shied away, snarling. Angel’s heart was beating quick, fear and adrenaline pumping through him. The vampire knocked the cross out of Angel's hand and smiled. As he was coming closer, Angel saw Ann come towards him. Instinctively he pulled out the stake and right before the vampire snapped his neck, he thrusted the stake towards its heart with all his might.
