Given A Chance: 2

by Spikes Queen

In the morning, Buffy got up and took a shower. She put on blue jeans and a purple t-shirt. She put on her black leather boots and brushed her hair.

Downstairs, Dawn and Joyce were in the kitchen eating breakfast.

“Hey, guys,” Buffy said, cheerfully.

“What’s gotten into you?” Dawn asked.

“Nothing. Are you going to Spike’s after school?” Buffy asked.

“Am I allowed?” Dawn asked.

“Yeah. Spike said he didn’t mind if you came over and then he would bring you home when the sun went down. Then he and I can patrol,” she said, smiling.

“This is so cool,” Dawn said, happily.

Buffy smiled. “You’re gunna be late,” she said.

“I’m going,” Dawn said, leaving.

Buffy looked at her mom. “What?” She asked, at her mom’s smile.

“You like him,” she said.

Buffy nodded. “I guess, so I’m going to the Magic Box. Do you need anything?” She asked.

Joyce shook her head. “No. I’m gunna get some rest.”

Buffy smiled at her. “Okay. Well, I see ya later,” she said, leaving.

Spike had just lit up a cigarette when Dawn came in. “Hey, Spike,” she said.

“Hey, Lil Bit. How was school?” Spike asked.

“Lots of homework. How are you at math?” She asked, sitting on the window ledge.

“What are you learning?” Spike asked, sitting next to her.

Dawn pulled out her worksheet and text book.

For the next hour, Spike helped Dawn with her homework.

By the time the sunset, Dawn was sleeping with her head in Spike’s lap. Spike was dozing lightly, absently stroking her hair.

Buffy quietly came in and smiled at them.

Quietly, she picked up Dawn’s bag and laid her hand on Spike’s cheek. “Spike?” She said, softly.

Spike’s eyes fluttered open. “Buffy?”

Buffy smiled. “You tired each other out,” she said.

“Sorry,” Spike said, sheepishly.

“Don’t worry about it. Lets get her home,” she said.

Carefully, Spike eased out from under the sleeping girl and gently scooped her up. They made the short trip to Buffy’s house, where Spike took Dawn upstairs. Like the last night, he went downstairs but fell asleep on the couch.

Buffy came down and smiled at him fondly.

Joyce came out of the kitchen and smiled as well. “I don’t think it would hurt to let him sleep,” she said.

Buffy nodded and made her way over to the couch. She closed the curtains and covered him with a blanket. “I have to do a quick patrol and I’ll pick up some blood for Spike,” she said, quietly slipping out the door.

A few hours later, Buffy walked through the door and put Spike’s blood in the fridge.

She went to the living room and smiled at him. She kissed him softly before going upstairs.

The next morning, when Spike woke, he was confused when he found himself in Buffy’s living room.

Buffy came downstairs just as he stood up. “Morning,” she said, smiling.

“Morning, Pet,” Spike said.

“It’s not a big deal that you fell asleep. I did get you some blood though,” she said, going to the kitchen.

Spike followed with a raised eyebrow. “This is…” he words were cut off as Buffy’s lips pressed against his.

She pulled away and smiled. “Been wanting to do that for awhile.” she said.

Spike leaned down and kissed her again. “I love you,” he said, before he checked himself.

“I know,” Buffy said, kissing him again.
