Say Goodbye: Prologue - Someone New

Author's Note: I know I have a few pieces posted on this site that never got finished and for those who actually liked them I apologise. Anyways, I can promise this won't happen again, as this story - already done! HA! So, if y'all like it, I will publish it in small - but frequent - doses. Well, that's basically all I have to say. Prologue - Someone New

“I need to do this, David”, Buffy was pacing back and forth over the polished wooden floor, her fiancé looking grim from where he was seated in their big white couch.

“Why, Buffy? Why can’t you just let it go as everyone else?” He was hurt, she could tell. The bottom line though, she was doing this for him. If she could only get him to see that. “Are we rushing into things?” He continued, “Less than a year and we are already thinking of walking down the aisle?”

Buffy stepped closer to him and put her arm around his shoulders and he looked up at her.

“I love you” she whispered in his ear, “That has always been my problem with relationships. I don’t say it unless I mean it and not as often as I should. I love you. If there’s something my life has taught me is that waiting is a recipe for disaster. I wanna spend my life with you and if marrying you means that I will, soon is not soon enough.”

“So go…Just come back to me, will you?” He muttered, accepting her decision without really liking it.

“Of course. Oh, and look after Dawn for me.” Although Dawn was no longer a magical key to a couple of hell dimensions, Buffy was still overprotective of her sister.

“She’s 17 years old, I doubt she needs to have a babysitter…Hell, at her age you were up all night chasing the creatures of the night…”

“Smart-ass” She kissed him on the cheek, “See you in a few days. I’ll bring Lizzie along. Bye honey.”
