Love, Lies, and Apple Pie: Reflections, Choices, and Proposals
by littlewiccan
*The funeral was* Dawn’s pen moved away from the page of her diary. She didn’t how to describe it somber, sad, it sucked. Dawn sighed and stared at the word funeral. It had the word fun in it how wrong was that; a funeral was anything but fun. Sad, depressing, sob fest? Yes. But fun? Never.
Dawn closed her diary and looked out her window. It was dark out. She could hear the night noise coming in through her open window and she could hear the faint sounds of her sister moving around downstairs.

“This is all your fault,” Fred’s dad told Angel and Darla, pointing an accusatory finger their way.
“Our fault?” Angel exclaimed.
“Yes, maybe if you hadn’t gotten your wife knocked up when she was 16. You’re son would have better morals,” he threw back.
“Roger,” Trish, Fred’s mom said in an angry whisper.
“Take that back,” Angel said, rolling up his shirt sleeves as though he was preparing to punch someone.
“Angel!” Darla yelled, walking in front of him to prevent the ensuing fight.
“Everybody calm down, don’t worry Fred and I have been talking over are options,” Connor said, trying to pacify the 2 sets of adults in front of him and Fred that wore angry and disappointed faces, “We’re considering marriage….”
“No, you’re getting married,” Angel said.
“At least we agree on something,” Roger said.
“I don’t want to marry Connor!” Fred yelled speaking for the first time since the conversation started.
“Yeah well you’re going to missy,” Roger said.
“Roger,” Trish said.
“No, Trish, I will not have my daughter end up a single mom.”
“Don’t I get a say?!” Fred yelled, “It’s my baby and it’s my life. Besides I don’t love Connor. I love Gunn.”
“Who?” Connor asked.
“And I don’t even know if I want to have this baby or keep it!”
“What?” everyone except Darla said, in shock. Darla just stayed silent. She knew what it was like to be a pregnant teenager and she wasn’t surprised the thought of abortion had crossed Fred’s mind. It crossed most girls but that part didn’t matter, it’s what they decided that did.
“I don’t want to marry you,” Fred whispered to Connor.
“Listen darling, I’m sorry you don’t really have a choice,” Roger said, “Trust me, you’ll thank us for this later.”
“Mom?” Fred said, desperately.
“I’m sorry sweetheart, I agree with your father.”
Fred ran upstairs to her room.
“I’ll go talk to her,” Connor said, running after her.

“Fred?” she could hear his muffled voice through her door as he knocked.
“Come in,” she said. She watched from her bed as he came in, closed the door, and sat on the bed next to her.
“Well, I guess it could have been worse?”
“How?” Fred asked in disbelief.
“Oh god, what are we going to do?”
Fred shook her head and placed her chin on her knees which she had pulled into her chest, “I don’t know.”
“Do you really want to get an abortion?”
“No, I thought about it. I thought about adoption too.”
“And?” Connor asked, running his hands through his hair.
“I didn’t like the idea. I’m sorry I don’t want to marry you.”
“Its okay, I don’t really want to marry you either,” Connor said with a small smile.
“Oh thanks,” Fred joked.
Connor laughed, “But if I have to be stuck with someone for the rest of my life I’m glad its you.”
Fred nodded, “Me too.”
“So who’s Gunn?”
“This guy I met.”
“Do you love him?”
“Maybe, I don’t know. I didn’t really get a chance to get to know him cuz of the baby in all.”
“Does he know?”
Fred nodded.
“And?”
“And he says he doesn’t care.”
Connor smiled, “Good for you.”
“I want red brides’ maid dresses,” Fred said after a few moments of silence.
“You got it.”
“What about Dawn?”
“What about her?”
“She loves you.”
“Yeah.”
“You love her.”
“But I belong to you. We have a family now," Connor said as he got down on one knee in fornt of her, "Fred will you marry me?" he asked, opening a box with a ring in it, "See I was going to do it anyway."
“I don’t want you to marry me just because we have a baby.”
“Fred, don't make this harder than this already is."
"Connor marriage is suppose to be about love and passion, not about felling obligated."
"I know but we don't really have a choice. Do we?"
"No, I guess not," Fred said with a pained smiled.
"So what do you say?"
"I would love to marry you?" Fred said with a small laugh.
