A story for you: A good drink of ale

by Fighter78

He was in London and it kinda felt good to be back. When the thing had told him he could go home his mind jumped straight to London, well maybe it jumped to Sunnydale but he knew that was gone. As he walked along the street he saw a pub he had heard talked about and in all his years had never been to, he’d been to The Black Lion, The Dove, The Old Ship and even The Rutland, but never had he been to The Blue Anchor. When he walked in he was greeted by what one might call a jolly man.

“’Ello, sir. What may I get you this fine night?” the man asked with a smile on his face.

“I’ll just have some ale, mate.” He said with a smile on his face. This guy might be fun to talk to, not as stuffy as Giles.

“So where you from?” the man asked

“London originally but I’ve been around.” He said and it was true. He had been around.

“Look like you’re missing a lady. Was she special?” the man asked and he looked up at the man a little surprised that the man could tell one of the things he was feeling.

“Hey don’t give me that look. I’ve been runnin’ this pub here long enough to see a lot of desolate men come in here and I know the look.” The man said earnestly.

“Yeah she was special.” He said smiling sadly.

“What happened?” the man asked as he drank some of the ale out of the frosted mug.
