Angel's New Angel: Caught

by Ksue

Buffy stretched out in her nice new bed. It was deep and soft, so much different from the ones at the hospital. Her heart swelled with love already for the girl that she had only just met. Addison reminded Buffy so much of herself when she was a young slayer. Confidant that she would always save everyone and the world would never end. Buffy knew that she should guard her heart, just to make sure there was no repeat of years ago, but she couldn’t help it. She felt an instant urge to train and protect this girl.

“Buffy?” Sheila asked, poking her head inside the door. Buffy jumped. Everytime she heard Sheila’s voice or saw her face, she was reminded of Willow...and Oz, but mostly Willow.

“Yes?” she asked.

“We’re leaving in about fifteen minutes to pick Addy up,” Sheila warned.

“Pick her up from where?” Buffy asked, raising her eyebrows.

“Dance. She has a dance class every morning, and then we train for the rest of the day,” Sheila explained. Buffy nodded.

“She doesn’t go to school?”

“Sometimes she does, but only when the mood suites her. Pretty soon they’re just gonna kick her out,” Sheila laughed.

“Where are Addison’s parents?” Buffy asked.

“Who knows? They’re only around during Thanksgiving and Christmas, other than that they’re off jetting around the world. It makes it easy for her though, she doesn’t have to hide anything from anyone in her life,” Sheila said, coming farther into the room and sitting down on the bed next to Buffy.

“Well, who all is in her life?” Buffy asked, intrigued.

“Me, her boyfriend, and now you,” Sheila shrugged. She mentally smacked herself for bringing up Angel, even if she hadn’t said his name.

“Why is it okay for her to tell her boyfriend?” Buffy asked. Addison was reminding her of herself more every minute.

“Because, he’s immortal. Can’t be killed unless he wants to be killed. He’s a milionaire too. Addison usually stays at his house,” Sheila offered.

“Oh. Okay, well, I’ll get dressed and then we can go,” Buffy said.

Addison’s heart pounded as Angel watched her dance. He wasn’t supposed to be here this morning. Sheila and Buffy were going to show up any minute and if he was still here...well, she didn’t know, but she didn’t want to find out.

She looked at him and he winked. Why had he insisted on coming? His meeting for the morning had been cancelled, so he had decided to take her to dance and stay to watch. God she was stupid, this would never work. The instructer gave the class a ten minute break and Addison hurried over to Angel.

“Hey baby, you looked beautiful out there,” Angel said, squeezing her hand.

“Thanks. So, you can go now, Sheila’s picking me up and we’re not really doing any more dancing. I love you, bye,” Addison said quickly, trying her best to rush him out.

“Okay, I’ll see you at home tonight,” Angel confirmed.

“Yeah, but not for dinner. I’m eating with Sheila, remember?” Addison gently reminded him.

“Oh yeah. Okay,” Angel nodded. Then he turned to slip out the back door. Just as she turned back to face the front, just as his black coat was sliding out of view, Buffy walked in, followed by Sheila. Addison mentally put on a mask, trying to play it cool, but Buffy stopped in her tracks. Her eyes searched every inch of the studio before finally settling on Addison. Then a bright smile split her face.

“Hey,” Addison breathed, wiping her next and chest with a towel.

“Hey,” Sheila said. Buffy was still looking around.

“Looking for someone, Buffy?” Addison asked. Buffy jumped and shook her head.

“No, I just thought I felt something,” Buffy said slowly, not wanting the two women who rescued her to think she really was insane.

“Something, like what?” Addison asked.

“Nothing. It’s just, you know how you have a certain connection with some people? Well, I just thought I felt someone from a long time ago, but it’s impossible,” Buffy shrugged. Addison nodded, dropping the subject. This call had been way to close for comfort.

Addison and Buffy were fighting. Man, Buffy could hit hard. They had agreed at the beginning not to pull punches, to go all out, and Buffy was giving Addison a serious run for her money.

“God, Buffy!” Addison shouted as Buffy lunged. Addison had only just gotten back to her feet.

“Come on, Addy! You gotta learn to stay up, or you’ll never make it!” Buffy shouted back. Music was blaring from the speakers, covering the grunts and cries of the two slayers.

Addison kicked herself into a standing position and raised her arms to block the blow that Buffy was sending towards her face. With that block, and the momentum of Buffy’s punch, Addison was able to yank the elder slayer forward and off balance. Addison spun and kicked Buffy’s legs out from under her, slamming her to the ground. Not wanting to waste a single second, Addison raised her foot in a mock attempt to crush Buffy’s windpipe.

“Gotcha,” Addison smiled. She bent down to help Buffy up.

“You got me, but it took you twenty minutes to do it,” Buffy said gently. Addison frowned.

“Oh yeah. Well, we’ll just have to keep working on it,” Addison sighed. Sheila came into the mat room and turned off the stereo.

“Dinner’s ready,” she stated.

“Great, I’m starving,” Addison laughed.

Addison and Buffy were out on patrol. They had already encountered two vampires, Buffy killing one, Addison the other.

“These streets are exactly the same as the streets in Sunnydale,” Buffy mused as they walked along.

“You remember Sunnydale that well? I wouldn’t,” Addison said.

“Of course I remember Sunnydale. It was a huge part of my life, and I walked those streets every night,” Buffy sighed.

“Did you like Rome or Sunnydale better?” Addison asked, curious to pick Buffy’s brain.

“They both sucked actually. I guess if I had to pick, then I would pick Sunnydale. Rome was just too horrible,” Buffy said, her voice catching in her throat.

“What happened that was so horrible?”

“The slayer’s I was training decided they no longer needed me and lead a mutiny to take over the slayer school. I broke up with the Immortal because he was working for the wrong side, and my life long, soul mate ended things. For good. It was just too much,” Buffy explained. Addison nodded sadly. As they walked, two vampire’s jumped from the bushes on the side of the road.

“Show time,” Buffy muttered.

Angel walked slowly down the road with his hands in the pockets of his long duster. Something was wrong with Addison, there was something she wasn’t telling him, or didn’t want him to know. The whole situation bothered him deeply. He heard the sounds of a scuffle from down the street and around the corner. He knew the sounds of Addison fighting, and he started for the corner. As he turned, he saw something that nearly stopped his heart. The long blond hair. The short, lithe body of another slayer. A slayer he never thought he would see again. But here she was, fighting alongside his lover.

After what felt like an eternity, Angel couldn’t stand to watch any longer. It was obvious that Buffy was training Addison. They were holding out on staking both vampires, and they were mirroring each other’s moves. He turned around and ran as quickly as he could back to the house.

Addison crept into Angel’s house later than usual. The entire house was dark, and Addison assumed Angel had already gone to bed. But something was off.

“You wanna tell me what the hell is going on, Addy?” Angel asked from the shadows. Addison stopped cold.

“What do you mean?” Addison asked, trying to play innocent.

“I mean, I saw you fighting with Buffy at your side tonight. How do you know her? And how did she get out of the hospital?” Angel asked dangerously.

“Um, I took her out. And she’s been training me,” Addison explained.

“God Addy.”

“Why didn’t you tell me about her?” Addison asked.

“Because I didn’t want you to think that there was anyone but you. I love you, Addison. I just didn’t want you to worry,” Angel sighed, cupping Addison’s cheek with his hand. Addison sighed and pressed her cheek closer to his warm skin.

“I’ll never worry. I love you too.”
