Angel's New Angel: Free
by Ksue
Addison walked into Angel’s house that night feeling like a good person. A true super hero. Buffy Summers did not deserve to be dumped in a mental hospital because she was grieving. Addison stopped when she saw Angel standing in the parlor, moving through a Tai Chi kata. His movements looked how she felt when she danced. Strong, graceful, natural. She watched him finish the kata and start another before he finally sensed her.
“Hello beautiful,” he said, not breaking his movements.
“Hey.”
“How was London?” Angel asked, casting her a loving glacne.
“Fine. They didn’t have the staff I wanted, so we didn’t buy one, but it was a nice little trip. Have I ever told you how incredibly hot you are when you do that?” Addison asked.
“When I do what?” Angel grinned evily. He knew perfectly well what she meant.
“Tai Chi. I love it,” Addison fawned. Angel stopped his kata and walked over to her, gathering her in his arms as soon as he reached her. Addison felt her body come alive as Angel’s hands roamed her back. She reactively pressed closer to him, urging him to continue.
“I love you, my dear,” Angel said as he picked her up and carried her to his bed room.

Addison was jolted awake by the ringing of her cell phone. She opened her eyes and rolled over, disoriented. Angel was gone, and his portion of the bed was back to room temperature. And it was bright outside.
“Hello?” Addison asked groggily as she put her cell phone to her ear.
“Are you ready yet? This was your plan. I’ll pick you up in fifteen minutes,” Sheila said angrily. And then she hung up. Addison shut the cell phone and groaned, falling back onto her pillow.
“Okay Sheils. Good morning to you too,” Addison muttered to herself. After a few minutes, she decided not to anger Sheila any further by not being ready. She dressed in jeans and a zip up sweatshirt, and pulled her hair into a low ponytail.
“Addison!” Sheila yelled from the front door.
“No way has it been fifteen minutes! I’ll be down in two seconds!” She finished brushing on some mascara and then ran to the railing that looked over the parlor.
“Wow, that was actually two seconds,” Sheila nodded, impressed. Addison smiled. And then she climbed onto the railing...and jumped. Being a Slayer had it’s perks.
“Okay, let’s go bust Buffy out of there,” Addison smiled. Sheila agreed.
The train ride was long and slow. Addison wondered why it felt ten times longer than the last time she had made the trip. She slumped down in her seat and started idly playing with a lock of her hair. After what seemed like another two hours, the conductor finally announced that they were arriving in London. Addison jumped up to be the first one off, but there were too many people in front of her. All the Slayer strength in the world couldn’t have helped her.
“Addy, just slow down,” Sheila laughed.
“No, I wanna get Buffy out,” Addison said impatiently.
“We’re almost there. Just chill, okay?” Sheila pleaded. They made the walk to the hospital in under twenty minutes, due to Addison’s side splitting pace.
“See, we’re here!” Addison said gleefully. Sheila shook her head once again. Sometimes she felt as though she would get whiplash from all the head-shaking she did.
“All right, let’s get inside and get Buffy.” Easier said than done.
“Ms. I’m sorry, but only the guardian who put her in here or a the psychiatrist who signed off on the order can remove Ms. Summers from our care,” the receptionist said matter-of-factly. Addison fumed.
“Look....Jena, my mother was this woman’s guardian. She died a long time ago. As did the doctor who signed the order. My name is Sheila Osborne, and I am to assume responsibility of Ms. Summers. None of the people who had a hand putting Buffy in this place are alive. Please, I can give you birth records, death certificates, whatever you need to make this happen. Just make it happen,” Sheila bargained. Addison found a new admiration for Sheila. She had never known her to be so tough.
“All right, I suppose you must be telling the truth, but if we find Ms. Summers without one of you at any time, we reserve the right to take her back into our custody. You need to sign these waiver forms, I’ll have an orderly get Ms. Summers,” Jena sighed. Addison bounced on the balls of her feet and discreetly clapped her hands.
“We get Buffy!” Addison whispered.
“I am aware of that, but you heard what the lady said. You have to be with her at all times if you come into London, okay? God, it’s like buying you a pet,” Sheila muttered. Addison grimaced at her. At that moment, a tall, impossibly muscular man came out of a white door, leading Buffy by the arm.
“You came,” Buffy whispered as she walked up to Addison.
“We said we would. I always keep my promises. Now let’s go before that lady changes her mind.” Addison whispered. The two started to giggle, like they had been friends for years.
“Uh, Sheila? Addison whispered once they were headed back to Ireland. Buffy had just gotten up for the restroom.
“What?” Sheila asked, slowly closing the magazine she was reading.
“I guess I should have thought of this before, but where is Buffy gonna stay? She can’t exactly stay with me and Angel, she doesn’t even know he’s around.
“She can stay with me, but you have to take her whenever you aren’t with Angel, deal?” Sheila asked, holding out her hand.
“Deal.”

“I wanna fight something,” Buffy said as they entered Sheila’s apartment that evening.
“You don’t waste any time do you?” Sheila asked, smiling slightly.
“No. Now, I wanna fight something. I may be kind of old, but I can still fight. I still have all my strength,” Buffy promised. Addison peeled of her t-shirt and kicked off her boots.
“Let’s go. There’s a dojo in one of the rooms,” Addison told Buffy. Buffy junoed up and followed Addison to the small mat room.
“Nice,” Buffy breathed. She began stretching, feeling the way her muscles moved. After all this time, they were still powerful.
“Okay, now, be nice to me. Everyone knows that you’re the best Slayer, in terms of fighting at least, to ever live. I’m not. I rely way too much on Sheila’s magic,” Addison explained. Buffy smiled.
“Like mother like daughter huh?” she laughed.
“Yeah. Let’s go to work.” Addison lunged at Buffy, wrapping her arms around Buffy’s torso and pulling her to the ground. Addison jumped up and moved to kick Buffy’s side, but she was ready this time. Buffy grabbed Addison’s foot with both hands and pulled, watching as Addison fell to the floor. Both slayer’s were up in an instant, circling each other like the predators they were. Buffy cracked her neck and waited for Addison to make the neck move. It didn’t take her long. She lashed out with a kick aimed high at Buffy’s head, but Buffy once again used Addison’s foot against her. Addison felt the pain as all the breath left her lungs. She tried to suck in a breath but couldn’t.
“Here, when I push down on your stomach with my hands, push out as hard as you can,” Buffy said softly. She bent down and laid her hands on Addison’s diaphragm. She felt Addison’s muscles push against her hands as she pushed down, and soon Addison sucked in a much needed breath.
“Thanks,” Addison panted.
“No problem. We have so much work to do, you know that right?” Buffy asked, giving Addison a hand up.
“Yeah. I told you I wasn’t the best fighter. I’m only good when I have magic on my side.”
“What happens if Sheila isn’t there? I mean, she doesn’t go on every patrol with you, does she?” Buffy asked, eyebrows raised.
“Well...yeah,” Addison admitted. Then her phone rang.
“Baby, are you coming home any time soon? I want to start dinner, but not if you won’t be home for another few hours,” Angel asked from the other end of Addison’s cell phone.
“Nope, I’m at Sheila’s. I’ll leave in five minutes, okay?” Addison waited for Angel to agree and then hung up the phone. “I gotta go. I’ll see you tomorrow and we’ll get started.” Buffy watched, confused, as she left.
