She was the reason.
I'm looking back at my memories as I realize don't have much time. I remember my father when I was younger, and the way he treated me. I remember my sister. I mis her so much. The moment I was created by Darla, and the moment my soul was restored. They're all becoming fuzzy.
My clearest is still the first time I fell in love.
She was walking with her friends, laughing and talking in her own world I couldn't touch. She sat on the steps of her school waiting for her boyfriend, and a man approached her telling her she was the slayer.
I remember following her to Sunnydale, the hellmouth, and watching her night after night. I finnaly gave her the cross and told her I was a friend, but not neccesarily hers. Little did she know I was already so in love with her it hurt.
Our first kiss brought out the demon in me and horrified her. She died and Xander and I brought her back to life. We made love and for once in almost a century, was at peace with myself.
Angelus returned and killed Jenny Calendar, a Kalderhash gypsy sent to watch me. Giles would never forgive me. Angelus, Spike, and Dru plotted to end the world with the aid of Acathla. Buffy foiled their plans and sent me to hell.
She spent the summer in L.A., and I in hell. Really the same if you think about it. I came back and she found me. On Christmas, I tried to end my life, but our love made it snow. For her eighteenth birthday, I gave her a book and it was taken. I had never fought that hard in my life.
I did a little acting and persuaded Faith into letting me have the books of Acension. Faith, feeling betrayed, poisened me with "The Killer of the Dead." Buffy cured me with her blood and I left without saying a word.
After I visited her and she visited me, I was turned human but was forced to turn back time, giving up everything I had always wanted, for her. I met her boyfriend Riley. Not the nicest person.
Xander died in a car accident the next fall. It left Anya nearly insane with loss. She took her own life the following winter. Giles suffered from a heart attack two years later to the day and passed after a strenuous fight with death.
Willow lived a long and happy life with Oz after explaining to Tara what she really needed. They had two beautifull red-headed girls name Chloe and Meghan. Cordelia married a wonderfull man she loved and was blessed with a baby boy named Joseph.
Wesley went on to become head of the watcher's council after proving himself worthy and married a gorgeous woman named Susan, and had twins named Buffy and Angel in tribute to the people he said he could never thank enough.
All of this, her friends, is lost with every growing second and all I can remember is her.
At twenty seven, Buffy was the last of the scooby gang to meet her destiny. Her small body overcome with a rare heart disease that her slayer ablities could do nothing to help. Her last words meant so much....
"I love you. Remember me forever." And before I could promise her I would, she was gone.
So now at four hundred and sixty five, I'm the oldest living member of the scooby gang. It's been over two hundred years since shes left, and I've learned that I will gradually lose all my memories before I die. But I'm happy, because now I realize my life's purpose. And I realize why I did everything.
She was the reason.
