Dark Paradise: Expecting 4: Backstory

RUINS OF LOS ANGELES - 2045

Kennedy Summers stands on a rooftop overlooking the twisted wreckage had used to be a busy and thriving city. She used her half-vampire eyes to search for human survivors. Ever since Vincent Turner took over the Presidency from the deceased Robin Wood, the whole world fell and it fell fast. The Watcher's Council didn't know until it was too late that Turner was a vampire. Starting with his own government, Turner and his minions sired vampires out of the Heads of States around the world, then their military leaders. Soon, vampires and demons were roving the Earth in such numbers that all the 120 slayers and wiccans in the world couldn't stop them. The Island was their only home. Kennedy could sense someone familiar coming up behind her.

KENNEDY (grinning)-
"Hello, dad." Spike walked up to his daughter and put his arm around her. She was wearing his old black coat....a present for her last birthday.

SPIKE-
"Hi, sweety. Any luck?"

KENNEDY-
"No. What about William?"

SPIKE-
"No, your brother has found anything either. You okay?"

KENNEDY-
"I hate this. We should be trying to take back the world. We just show up here....look for humans....don't find any, and then go home before the sun comes up."

SPIKE-
"You know your mother's decision, and I agreed with her. She doesn't want to risk anybody until we spot humans. Just you, William, Spike....and Captain Moody."

KENNEDY-
"Daddy, are you ever going to let up on Uncle Angel?"

SPIKE-
"Yeah....when bloody hell freezes over."

KENNEDY (pointing to the city)-
"Yeah...they could use some snow."

They make their way back to the waiting Spaceliner. Maple Rosenberg is waiting for them. Even in her late forties, she still looked like she was in her twenties.

MAPLE-
"Any luck?"

SPIKE-
"Sorry, love."

MAPLE-
"Yeah....same old shit. Come on, William and Angel are already on the plane. The window shutters have already been closed. Kennedy?"

KENNEDY-
"We need bigger teams...."

MAPLE-
"I know, but after Graham betrayed Riley and got him and his whole team killed, Buffy doesn't want...."

KENNEDY (growls)-
"I know." She follows her father on to the plane.

Maple walks to the plane with a slight limp, an old battle injury has been giving her some trouble lately. After she gets in the Spaceliner, it takes off and heads for the island. On the way, she thought about Riley. She was genuinely happy when she heard that Graham was placed into a 'Cattle Pen', a place when humans were kept for food. She closes her eyes and puts the thought out of her mind. She couldn't wait to get back to the island, and back to Faith.
