Part Two

Buffy ran. She ran until she reached the outskirts of Chin, The Great Wall, and there she stopped, puffing and out of breath. The wall was enormous and stretched as far as the eye could see on both sides. Buffy gazed around, bewildered.
“God, where the hell am I?” She muttered to herself.
She looked straight ahead at the Great Wall and took a deep breath. Then she started forward and slammed her fist into the hard stone. It hurt like hell, but there was now a small niche for her to climb. Over and over again she repeated this movement, until she finally reached the top. There was a guard with his back turned to her. She grabbed a stone with her now-bloodied and grazed hand and slammed it on the back of his skull, knocking him unconscious. She then peered carefully over the other side and launched herself over. The drop was hard and she rolled a few times to ease it a little.
“That must have hurt!” The female voice stated the obvious. Buffy sat up and looked around. Nothing. She stood up and spun around a few times, just to make sure. Still nothing.
“You’re not from around here, are you?” It came again.
“Alright, who the hell are you?” Buffy snapped. “I’m not really one for hide and seek!”
The voice laughed, “Definitely not from around here!”
There was a blinding flash of light and from out of a portal stepped a beautiful blonde woman in what looked to be *very* revealing pink lingerie.
Buffy eyed her warily. “You always walk around in your underwear?”
Aphrodite glared at her, “These happen to be very fashionable where I come from!”
“I’m definitely not from around here then!” Buffy smirked.
The other woman just ignored her. “You are Buffy, I presume?”
“Depends on who’s asking.”
The blonde Goddess giggled, “Why, I’m the one who brought you here!”

Xena stopped at the wall. She’d been tracking the other girl for some time now, and it was becoming painfully obvious to her that this was no ordinary girl. The fist-marks in the pure stone wall were enough to figure that out. Xena set about climbing the freshly made niche’s with ease. When she reached the top there was a guard sitting on the ground rubbing his head and groaning. Xena grabbed a nearby stone and slammed it down on his head. The guard dropped to the ground like a rock for the second time that day.
The dark-haired warrior looked over the other side of the wall and glanced around. She smiled as she noticed a rope ladder hanging over the side, which Buffy had obviously failed to notice.

Buffy whirled around dizzily as what was once the Great Wall of Chin suddenly turned into a fairyland of sorts. The sky was pink and the moon and sun were up there side by side. There were soft, lush green fields of grass covered in masses of flowers of every kind and colour. To her left was a sparkling ocean, devoid of colour and clear as glass so that you could see every immaculate thing beneath its surface. To her right, in the near distance she could see white snow covering enormous mountain peaks. And directly in front of her stood a huge castle complete with a moat.
“Where are we?” Buffy murmured in awe.
Aphrodite laughed: “This is where I live!”
Buffy laughed, “Figures.” She muttered as she glanced at the heart-shaped doorway. Aphrodite went on, “This is Mount Olympus. Or at least a fraction of it. All the Gods have a small portion of it to create their own personal paradise.” She explained. “Actually Mount Olympus is practically endless. It’s just a fancy name for the astral plane, which is the subconscious of the universe. An alternate reality.”
Buffy blinked.
“Don’t ask.”
“I won’t!”
They walked towards the castle in silence. Finally Buffy asked the question that she had been asking herself for the past 24 hours:
“Why am I here?”
Aphrodite giggled, “I’m sorry, I haven’t been very thoughtful, have I! Well, basically, you’ve traveled back in time a few thousand years because I need your help.”
“What kind of help?” Buffy asked suspiciously.
The Goddess sighed, “There’s something coming. I’m not sure what it is, but I can feel it. We all can.”
“And you couldn’t have asked the all-powerful Xena? Or… what’s-his-name… that big guy covered in muscles…”
Aphrodite laughed, “Hercules? Oh, believe me, he’s helping. It’s not just you that I need. I’m recruiting the greatest warriors of all time!” She sobered. “The thing is, Buffy… I’m useless in this fight!”
“Don’t wanna break a nail?”
Aphrodite rolled her eyes, then looked thoughtful as she examined her perfectly manicured nails. “Well… that, and the fact that mine and all the gods powers are actually useless. This… thing that’s coming… magic doesn’t work against it. It can only be defeated physically. But it does have magic of its own.” She looked down at the ground for a moment. “But the Gods *will* have to fight eventually. It has created an army, Buffy. The Fates predicted long ago that the War without Time was coming. We never took it seriously, but now… I can sense it. I can feel it all around me… and the power… the absolute power. It could be the Apocalypse.”
Buffy gazed at her, shocked. “How? That can’t be true! If I’m alive in my time, then that means that we must have won the war, right? Right?”
Aphrodite shook her head slowly and sadly, “It’s the Timeless War, Buffy. This could change History as you know it… unless it’s defeated before it… causes too much damage.”
“Are you saying that if we lose this… if we die… this world will end? In all times? All my friends, my family… everyone?” Buffy sank to the ground.
The Goddess who never lost her composure sat next to her and put her head in her hands, “Not this world… this Universe,” She mumbled through her hands. “Life as we know it will just… cease to exist.”
Aphrodite lifted her head stared hard at the girl before her. “We need you, Buffy. This fight can’t be won without you in this army. I can’t promise you that we’ll win… or that you’ll make it out alive… not even the Fates can predict that. But with you on our side along with thousands of the greatest warriors of time… I think we might have a chance at winning.”
Buffy gazed into the pleading eyes of the Goddess of love and sighed, “I really don’t have a choice, do I?” She whispered. “Can I say goodbye to my friends first? But not my mom. I don’t think… please, not my mom.”
Aphrodite smiled, understanding and waved her hand. “Your friends are already here.” Buffy turned and the sight before her was enough to last her a lifetime. Willow, Xander, Oz, Giles, even Cordelia and then… Angel.
Buffy smiled. She was overjoyed at seeing her very best friends at that moment. These people had been there for her through every dilemma in her teenage life, great and small. She laughed out loud, then stopped suddenly… and promptly burst into tears.
