Truth Behind the Demon: Memories

by Fighter78

“Don’t think I’ve seen anything like that. Sounds familiar but don’t know anything.” The bartender said to Spike who was now on his second beer.

“You sure. I mean this thing was unforgettable.” Spike said hoping he would get some answers.

“Sorry can’t help you. You should talk to Nate. He knows just about every demon there is. He’s off tonight but he should be on tomorrow.” The man said.

“Thanks. Think I should be going now.” Spike said as he paid his bill and walked out the bar.

“Think, he’ll come back at all?” Tara asked Willow as they sat on Giles’ couch drinking some tea.

“I don’t know. He can be pretty unpredictable.” Willow said. She hadn’t located Buffy and it was really getting to her. She needed to know where her best friend was and knew that Spike would be a big help even if he had a hard time helping them.

Tara was about to say something when all of a sudden Giles’ door flung open and Spike came strolling in.

“Found a guy who might be able to tell us a few things about this demon, but can’t talk to him until tomorrow. Wasn’t working tonight. Any luck on finding Buffy?” Spike said as he came to stand in front of Willow and Tara.

“Sorry, Spike. I don’t know where she could have gone. I even used a world map and came up with nothing.” Willow said and when she did she saw Spike’s face fall a bit.

“Has her mum called at all to find out what’s going on and why her eldest daughter hasn’t come home yet?” Spike asked knowing that Joyce was probably worried sick right now and knew it probably wasn’t good for her health.

“No, she hasn’t. I’m not sure we should tell her either. It would really upset her and she doesn’t need that now. Not in her condition.” Willow said and Spike only half agreed he knew that if he was Joyce he would want to know why his daughter wasn’t home.

“Has Giles uncovered anything yet?” Spike asked wanting more information on this demon that had attacked Buffy.

“No, afraid not. This thing you mentioned seems to be missing.” Willow said.

“Isn’t that great?” Spike said a little angrily as he sank into the armchair a little tiredly.

“Why don’t you go get some sleep, Spike? We’ll work on this, we need you at your best to find her.” Willow said caringly.

“Alright, I’ll be back the moment after sun sets.” Spike said as he got up to leave.

~William walked on in the snow holding his books to his chest and hummed the song “Oh Day of Rest and Gladness” to himself. He wasn’t paying attention to where he was going so when he tripped over something he was a bit surprised. When he looked to see what he had tripped over he saw what appeared to be girl with blonde hair. He ran quickly to her to see if she was all right.

“Miss, are you ok?” William asked as he turned her over and then he saw her head. There was a huge gash.

“Oh my, I better take you to Mother.” William said as he gently picked her up and carried her all the way back to his house.

“What happened, William?” a woman with her wavy graying brown hair pulled back said a little hastily when she answered the door.

“I’m not sure. I was walking home from school and I tripped over her. You have to help her, Mother.” William said worriedly as he looked down at the girl.

“Alright. She must be freezing her jacket is so thin. Take her upstairs to the guest bedroom.” William’s mother said and William started up the steps with his mother close at his heels.

“Now, she should be warm now. Why don’t you get some supplies so I can clean her wound up.” His mother said and he headed down stairs to get the stuff. He got a basin of warm water and some clothe.

“Here, Mother.” William said handing her the things and then walked out of the room. He didn’t go back in there until he heard talking coming from inside.

“…William found you lying on the ground on his way home from school. You had a dreadful gash on your head, but I cleaned it up quite nicely." He heard his mother say.

"Is she alright, Mum? Shall I fetch Doctor Wickmere?" William asked as he stood shyly in the doorway, he wasn’t used to being in the presence of such a beautiful girl.

"I don't think so. I think she just needs a little rest and she should be fine. Would you like some supper?" his mother said and when the girl nodded that she wanted to eat she told him to stay with herd.

“You know you can sit. I won’t be offended.” The girl said smiling at him after he came over and he sat down.

“What is your name?” he asked hesitantly as he wrung his hands together.

"Elizabeth Summers, but everybody calls me Buffy, you can call me that too if you want. I know your first name is William, but what's your last name?" the girl said.~

Spike shot up in his bed. His first thought was that it had been the strangest dream he ever had but as he thought about the dream more he felt he may remember helping a girl out when he was a boy and human.
