To Keep Safe: Zoo
by Quortoth
NINA FOLLOWED ANGEL into Angel’s office. Nina closed the door behind her.
“I’ve been dead for awhile,” stated Angel.
“I get that idea,” she said.
“Well what do you want to talk about?” he questioned sitting on the edge of his desk, “I’m trying to sort-”
Angel was stopped from continuing his speech when all of a sudden. [it’s still day time.] All of a sudden Nina grabbed his face and kissed him. She pushed him back on his desk and mounted him. Angel wasn’t stopping her.
He pulled away, “Nina,” he stated, “Full moon?”
“Yes, but uh, I thought you were dead and you’re not, so-”
“Not now,” he said quickly.
“You’re a man what do you mean not now?” she questioned going towards him again and kissing him.
“I need to get things a little straighter,” said Angel.
“What?” she questioned taking that as a bad joke.
“Oh, no, not that, um… Things are a little different, I’ve just been dead for months in fact, I’m a little confused still and, you know how when we, I have to get into one of those moods.”
“Oh,” she said biting her lip and getting off him.
“Thank You,” he stated, “Things have been a little weird.”
“A little weird,” sneered Spike from behind him, imagination, he went up to Angel quickly put his hand on his shoulder, “You could have bent her over the desk right there and ate her throat, come on man, she’d just think it was a moment of passion.”
Angel’s eyes went wide.
DAWN WAS IN HER ROOM. She was looking through her bags for something. There were magic ingredients in the bag but nothing that she felt would help any. Or at least yet.
“Where’s the magic book,” she stated opening up her Chester drawers and looking through the clothes. Well she didn’t find it there, “Where did I put you?” She stood in the middle of the room thinking for a moment then went over to her bed, on the right side she pulled up the covers looking under the bed and found what she had been in such a search for.
She flipped through the book. Then she came upon the page she wanted. Mevudor Kniciker, [I don’t think that really means anything.] There was a picture of a brain on it. And a list of written ingredients. This wasn’t that spell Willow had done to make Buffy and Tara forget what they’d been through, no. Something stronger.
Dawn grabbed some of her ingredients off the bed. A bag of some kind green powder. She looked at the book and did as it said. She put it in a circle on the floor. She looked on the bed and grabbed a bag of Crystals and put 8 of them in the circle. She grabbed a bottle of some kind of liquid off the bed and opened the top and put it in the middle of the circle.
She got in the middle of the circle with the book, “Okay, I can do this, all my mind is on this spell,” she was pepping herself up, “Okay,” she grabbed the book, She read what was there, “To forget all the wrong that has been committed, to forget the trauma that he’s caused, to forget that act that has been hidden, forget that I’ve caused the spell alone.”
She closed her eyes thinking about the people that knew ‘secrets’ in this place, and she let out a breath slowly. The green of the dust started to glow then it blew up all of a sudden. Dawn started coughing and she dropped the book on the floor.
The room got filled with a green smoke. She opened the door and ran out. Dawn looked back at the room as the green smoke flew back into the room and back tracked it self to the bottle. The bottle smashed, the dust seeped into the carpet and the stones flew up into her Chester drawers.
The drawers opened and the stones went into the little baggy she’d kept them in. The book slammed shut and slipped under her bed where it had been. Everything had cleaned itself up, everything nice and neat. Except for what she’d done through her messy youth living capabilities.
“Oh,” she sighed, “I thought this was going to be bad.”
ANGEL LOOKED UP at the ceiling, then he fell down on the ground. “Angel?” questioned Nina. Then she did the same thing.
WESLEY passed out behind the bar.
CONNER closed his eyes and passed out.
EMMA looked at herself in her mirror of her bathroom. Then she looked up at the ceiling and passed out hitting her head on the bath tub cutting her forehead. The cut healed instantly.
ANGEL & NINA stepped out of his office. Wesley grabbed Nina instantly and started dancing around. Angel walked over to the bar and stood on top of it, “So, there was this man,” he acted as though he was speaking to a crowd. Wesley dipped Nina and kissed her, “He was in the confessional with a Priest-”
EMMA STARTED WAKING UP. She stood up and went to the small balcony and opened the doors to it. She stepped up on the railing then leaped to the pipe going up the side of the hotel. She began to slide down the pipe trying to hold on. She slammed her hands on the wall quickly and her feet.
Her fingers bled as she began to climb up the pipe. At the top of the building she climbed up on the building sign top. Wind blew through her hair and she put her arms out. The wind blowing all around her. She was on the edge of the sign, the edge of the sign was on the edge of the building, on the roof, above the 5th floor.
The sun had just gone down.
CONNER stood up and went to the wall immediately. He started feeling them rubbing his hands on the walls like he was blind. He felt the door and found the knob opened it and went out into the hall.
WESLEY PULLED away from Nina immediately. She had began the change. Wesley started screaming. [Screaming yes.] Nina jumped up in her full werewolf form in moments. Angel quickly kicked her down. Nina fell back on her back then leapt on to her feet roaring angrily.
Angel punched her in the face once, twice. He leapt up and kicked her across the full hair face and pushed her towards the basement. Conner leapt over the side of the stairs, not acting blind what so ever. He landed on his feet and caught Nina and threw her through the basement door.
The wolf feel down the stairs and landed on the ground. Conner quickly appeared in front of her and the wolf bit into Conner’s throat and slammed him against the wall. Angel grabbed Nina and ripped her off Conner, who slid down the wall holding his gushing wound.
Angel punched Nina in the side and threw her into the cage and slammed the door shut. Miner locks, they’d need more. Nina grabbed at the bars and tried to shake them, she roared and roared. Angel went to Conner, “Are you alright?”
Conner held his wound blood all over his hands he looked up at Angel wide eyed. “You were bitten by a werewolf.”
Conner stood up and walked past Angel and ran up the stairs.
EMMA HAD HER EYES CLOSED. She let the air flow around her then she started to feel dizzy she slipped and caught herself in a position that would of hurt a man. She looked down wide eyed at the ground far below her, the pavement spinning. Cars, lights spinning. Everything was real loud.
She gasped for air looking forward, her eyes went yellow. All her abilities were going. Her skin began to burn. Emma’s nose burned from the smell of the cars, paint, the bricks had smell. Every person smelled. Everyone of them around her, even far.
Her eyes hurt from the light tears going down her face from the overload. Her ears hurt from the horns, the sound of the cars driving. The medal of the sign, she held the medal and it bent with her fingers cutting her skin.
She could here the man 14 blocks down the street. 45 vampires between there and there. Her ears filled with air, from everyone breathing. She could hear their heart beats. All their hearts beating. She took in a breath and everything slowed down for her, her eyes went back to normal.
Emma looked at her hands, they healed immediately. She then stood up on the edge and walked to the end of the sign away from the end of the building then ran off the sign leaping through the air.
[I would play music, heavy metal during a scene like that. Makes me think of when Jenny was on the edge of a building top in the movie ’Forest Gump’ and she was going to jump.]
WESLEY WAS LOOKING at Conner’s wound. He was wiping it with a wash cloth, cleaning it. “It stopped bleeding.”
“That means it’s healing,” stated Conner.
“Not very fast,” said Angel, “Is he infected?”
“I don’t know,” answered Wesley putting down the wash cloth, “He may take differently because he’s part vampire.”
Conner looked down, “How’d this happen?”
“This?” asked Wesley.
“Me,” stated Angel, “Me being alive. I’m not Angelus.”
“Duh,” stated Conner angrily, “You don’t smell like Angelus.”
“Calm down,” said Wesley, “I’ll check my books on werewolves to see if we’ll be having any problems.”
“What’s going on?” asked Dawn standing at the office door.
“Nina turned into a werewolf,” said Angel, “Bit Conner.”
“So is he some kind of werewolf?” asked Dawn.
“We’re not sure,” said Wesley.
“Oh, uh, anyone, seen Emma?” asked Dawn, “She’s not in her room.”
Conner looked up, “I’ll know tomorrow night if I’m anything.”
“This place is turning into a zoo,” stated Dawn.
EMMA walked the street alone. The night around her. Everything seemed so unreal, the cars that passed, the people that walked around her. She kept walked looking at everything. People came by her and she didn’t expect it. Three men were coming towards her.
“Emma William Summers,” said one.
Two of them passed her and grabbed her by the arms. Emma then back flipped backwards and landed on her feet their grip wasn’t able to keep hold. She grabbed them, putting her hands around their necks in a head lock pulling aggressively braking their necks. She dropped them.
She went towards the man that had said her name and one had been behind her. Not a man, a demon with thick wrinkles in his face, blue veins, no nose big black eyes. The demon wore a black collar with a chain on it and a man holding it.
A black van drove up from in front of Emma. She looked around in front of her and never noticed the demon behind her who quickly slammed a tranquilizer in her back. Emma fell down on her knees looking up at them.
“Emma William Summers,” said the first man, “You are now property of, ‘The Zoo.’”
Emma closed her eyes falling down to her sleep.
“EMMA’S GONE,” said Dawn, “Definitely gone.”
“When did she leave?” demanded Conner.
“Umm… I don’t know,” said Dawn.
“Do you know she is gone or, are you guessing so?” asked Wesley.
“Conner?” asked Dawn, “Is she gone?”
Everything was quiet and still for a long moment. “Yes,” said Conner.
“Do you think this has something to do with it?” asked Dawn showing Wesley a piece of paper.
There was a bunch of things in a symbols that Dawn definitely didn’t understand. “Well,” said Wesley looking at the paper.
“What did you do?” sneered Conner looking at Angel, “Take her again.”
“No Conner,” retorted Angel, “I haven’t had the time to, and I’m not evil.”
“Did Emma right it?” asked Dawn.
“No, this was written by a right handed person, or demon, or whatever, right handed,” said Wesley.
“Emma’s left,” stated Angel.
“Do you know the language?” asked Conner.
“It may take a couple of hrs. but it’s very familiar to me,” said Wesley.
“Fine, get that looked up before I get angry, if someone has kidnapped her, they will pay,” sneered Conner, he smiled at Angel in an evil way, “Is that right?”
EMMA LAY ON CONSCIOUS ON THE FLOOR, of somewhere. She opened her eyes slowly. There was a sound, there was a clicking sound, and flashes. Like Cameras. People were talking all around her. Emma felt, like there was a draft.
The floor was cold. Emma woke up slowly blinking from the flashes. Her eyes were immediately irritated by the cameras going. Her eyes went yellow, some people started clapping as she leapt up on her feet. Eyes went back to normal.
Emma figured out why she felt a draft. She stood up slowly, she was wearing leather, revealing leather. She wore a long sleeve shirt made of leather that tied in the front. Her clothes were black, her sleeves stopped mid way down her forearm. The shirt’s neck was low, the tie in front was like some kind of decoration.
The shirt didn’t cover her stomach it stopped in the middle of her ribs. She wore a black belt going through the belt loops of her leather shorts. She had no shoes or socks on.
Emma caught the random things they said, “I had her sing at my club-” - “She looks like a Victoria Secret model,” [I thought that was kind of interesting to say/ funny.] - “That outfit is , so, last year.” Emma looked at them like she was confused, she was groggy. “Man she’s scrawny, I bet she’d taste good with butter.”
Thick velvet drapes closed around her suddenly. She backed up into the wall behind her. Then the door into her cage opened. Emma backed away from it into the drapes.
“Emma, please stop,” replied a man coming into the room, “Hello, I’m Viktor Mygon, This is, The Zoo.” He looked at Emma who was gripping the bars through the drapes. “I take it you’re a pretty quiet one.” His guards stepped in.
Emma’s eyes quickly turned yellow and shot at him quickly. “Ooh nep tue,” said one of the guards, a barrier went up and Emma was stopped, she growled at him angrily.
“Now, we can either be your friend or enemy,” stated Viktor, “Here, you’ll be watched,” laughed Viktor, “It’s a zoo here.”
“Dark Magic’s,” growled Emma.
“I take it you’re normally not used to spells working on you either,” smiled Viktor, “You will be fed once a day, You’ll have to hunt it, you just can’t eat the other demons. Either.”
“I want out,” she growled.
“NO,” said Viktor, “ Think about this, you don’t do what we want, there’s consequences to your actions. And do try to escape, consequences to that too. We know that we can’t kill you, but we know what we can do.”
“You can’t do anything,” growled Emma.
“Let us see your pretty face,” smiled Viktor, one of his henchmen waved his hand. Emma gasped her eyes going wide she fell forward catching herself. Her eyes went white then blue. Her nose bled as her fangs retracted back into her regular canines. She groaned in pain, breathed hard, winced her eyes getting teary from the pain. “I guess that no good way of fixing the vamp thing.”
“Sir, it’s best we don’t do that or her price will go down,” said One of Viktor’s guards.
“Price?” gasped Emma looking back at him as the blood from her nose went away.
“Well sometimes we like to bet on our animals when it’s feeding time, cause, sometimes, their food, is mean,” he growled.
“You won’t get away with this,” growled Emma still getting over the pain of forced un-transformation.
“You probably also wonder what’s with the outfit, well, we like our property to look good. The audience seems to enjoy it, they like you a lot,” he said looking up and down at her body as she stood up, “I do too.” Emma’s eyes went yellow again. They stood there for a moment. “You can say I gave you your debriefing so, have a nice time. Oh and don’t try to hurt the audience either, that has consequences.”
DAWN CAME INTO THE LOBBY. “I’ve looked in every room, my feet hurt and I don’t think this is one bit funny if it’s supposed to be.”
“I don’t think it’s a joke,” stated Wesley putting up some weapons.
“Did you find anything in the basement, or, you know, the sewers?” asked Dawn.
“Too much places down there, not only my life would be in danger,” said Wesley.
“So we’ve looked in every room,” replied Dawn, “Where haven’t we looked?”
“We should just say that she’s not here Dawn-”
“Roof, haven’t look there, Conner’s out looking around in L.A., but none of us have checked the roof,” replied Dawn.
“Alright,” said Wesley, “Lets go then.”
ANGEL STOOD NEXT TO NINA’S CAGE. Nina leaping around in it trying to get out but failing terribly. Her wolf form not strong enough to brake the bars of the cage. The steel too thick. Nina leapt down on the ground frantically growling at Angel.
“I know, you don’t like that cage,” said Angel.
“Who like’s a cage?” asked Conner sitting on the stairs.
“You’re not there, you’re never there,” sighed Angel.
“I’m right here, plaguing your life,” laughed Conner going to him.
“You’re some side effect of having a soul,” moaned Angel looking at his frantic Nina.
“Why haven’t you fed?” asked Conner going up behind him, “You haven’t fed in a day, not since that little old lady.”
“I don’t have anymore pigs blood, something ate it, or something like that,” sighed Angel.
“No, but you luscious humans, right up the stairs,” taunted Conner.
“Wesley’s a bit too scrawny for my taste,” stated Angel.
“Even so, doesn’t mean he doesn’t have the blood,” laughed Conner walking around to Angel’s left, “What about Dawn?”
“The slayer’s little sister,” stated Angel, “NO,” he turned to him, “I’m not going to feed off humans.”
“No?” asked Conner, “You feel them all around, anywhere in this entire world. You could have anyone.”
“I don’t feed on innocents,” growled Angel.
“What about the murderers in this world, there’s prisons just waiting for you to sneak in and do the those bad men in,” stated Conner.
“Shut Up!” roared Angel.
“You’re a vampire!” growled Conner, “You can take each and everyone, why not, they aren’t innocent, none of them. They don’t see the good, the kill it.”
“I’m not going to talk to you anymore,” stated Angel.
“You’ll talk to me, every moment I speak up,” said Conner.
“No,” groaned Angel.
“Prove me wrong,” smiled Conner.
WESLEY AND DAWN LOOKED ON THE ROOF. They looked around. Up, around. Dawn saw a small puddle of blood on the roof top. “Hey, Wesley, look at this.”
Wesley went over to her, “Do you suggest that’s Emma.”
“I’m no vampire,” replied Dawn, “But I think so.”
They looked up at the sign and saw the bent metal. Wesley looked at it seeing the finger imprints of the bending automatically, “From what I see she was grabbing on to the bar, cause, a normal vampire can’t bend the metal like that.”
“So she gripped it so hard her hands started to bleed,” stated Dawn.
“That’s what I’m thinking of,” replied Wesley, “Doesn’t suggest struggle though.”
“Ooh, you said you had been in some kind of daze,” stated Dawn.
“Yes, dancing, and then I got attacked by Nina,” replied Wesley.
“Angel was standing on the bar telling jokes,” answered Emma.
“Exactly,” assured Wesley.
“Emma must have had some kind of Woodstock thing going on as well and came on the roof and ended up on the sign,” answered Dawn.
“I believe that could be why, but, Angel can’t track her blood cause her wounds heal automatically.”
They looked over to the sound of the fire escaped being walked on or something like that. Then Conner’s hands grabbed the roof top and he pulled himself up easily.
“Did you find anything?” asked Dawn.
“Yeah, I don’t know where she went but I think something got her,” she stated.
“Why?” asked Wesley.
“This,” Conner pulled out a tranquilizer dart and showed him.
“Okay,” sighed Wesley excepting it, he looked at it and saw an engraving, some kind of symbols.
“What’s that mean?” asked Dawn.
“Something mystical,” answered Wesley, “I can say that.”
“I need more then that,” growled Conner going up to him.
“Calm down Conner,” said Dawn putting her hands on his shoulders and easing him away form Wesley a little. Conner just looked at her. “We’ll get Emma back.”
“Better, I’ve lost her once and I’m going to loose her again,” growled Conner.
“I wouldn’t go tracking these people down,” said Wesley, “If they can take down Emma, they can surely get you.”
“I don’t care-”
“Conner, if you’re not around, then we can’t save her, so stay here, I’ll figure this out then we’ll get farther on it. I won’t sleep till I get it done, how about that,” stated Wesley.
“Just find her,” scoffed Conner passing them hitting Wesley’s shoulder with his.
“I can sleep right?” asked Dawn.
“Of course, I’ll get right on this,” sighed Wesley, “I’ve had enough sleep over the summer to be able to figure this out.”
“I can stay away, just some coffee and-”
“Get your rest,” said Wesley.
WHY NOT SOME BETTER ACOMIDATIONS? Put me in a leather suite but not a better place to sleep. Emma watched the people passing the other cages outside of her own. People crowded around and Emma hung on the bars watching the other cages.
The other cages contained demons, vampires. Others of all different shapes and sizes, colors, amounts of fur. Emma was the most watched. She may not be able to attack the audience but she took their cameras smashed them and gave them back.
There was a sign in front of her cage that said:
EMMA WILLIAM SUMMERS
Unknown Immortal
‘Please don’t feed the immortal.’
Emma had looked at the sign, “Stupid sign.” She looked around at the guards, “AT LEAST MY SIGN CAN SAY, NO FLASH PHOTOGRAPHY!!” Emma saw people taking their demon children, human children to see the cages, “You bring your children, You bleedin’ fools, what to do you think you’re teaching them!!?”
“Mommy, I want to see that one,” replied a child. The demon mother picked her kid up and took him away.
Emma looked at the bars in wonder, if she could brake these and just leap out and run off fast enough, I would be home free. Emma grabbed the bars and gripped them tight She made her eyes go yellow and she started pulling on the bars angrily. The bars bent with her strength and the guards started coming over.
“Stop that or you’ll be punished,” growled one pulling out some kind of electrically run night stick.
“I’ve never been shocked before,” said Emma as she pulled away from the bars. She backed up from the bars and then looked at it. She decided one thing. It wasn’t to stay in there. Emma ran at the bars and leapt through the two bent bars and she flew out of the cage.
Leaping over the crowd she landed on her feet and pushed down a guard that had been coming at her. A loud siren started to go wildly. Emma would of taken off immediately, too many people, too many guards. “I have to fight my way eh?” she asked herself looking around her.
The guards quickly went towards her and she ducked two of those electric night sticks and the guards got each other and went down hard. Emma quickly spun around and kicked one in the head then with the opposite foot kicked him again killing him.
“This,” she punched one killing him, “Is, a lot,” she grabbed one and flipped him, “-easier with-” She suddenly grabbed one by the neck and snapped it, “shoes on.”
She looked to her right more guards coming. She ducked a tranquilizer dart from her left. There was a guard coming towards her from behind she backed flipped quickly and backed kicked him in the head killing him then did a barrel roll suddenly dodging a tranquilizer.
She landed on all fours and jumped up and kicked the one with the tranquilizer gun, kicked him in the head killing him. She landed and grabbed two and threw their heads together killing them. She was shot by a tranquilizer but kept going.
Pulled it from her arm and jabbed it into one’s throat, got hit with the electric thing while grabbing another guard. The guard got shocked but Emma was un phased. She grabbed the stick and hit the man over the head with it quickly, she spun it around and got the one in the chest on the opposite side of her.
The man went down with his new gut wound as Emma pulled the long nightstick out of him. She spun around and blocked a blow from another nightstick then hit the guard across the head. She was shot again with a tranquilizer.
She pulled it out and threw it at the man and it shot through his insides and he fell down. Emma tried to shake it off. But too much, she went into the odd slumber of tranquilizers and fell down as if she fainted. People started clapping.
ANGEL WAS TRYING TO be away from anyone in the group. The voice had calmed down in his head. He felt relieved for a time. Wesley came into the room, “I believe I found something on Emma’s whereabouts.”
“Really, Wes, do we need to find her?” questioned Angel, looking and feeling a little annoyed.
“Something wrong Angel?” asked Wesley holding the dart in his hand, “Maybe you need to sleep.”
“I’ve been dead long enough, I don’t need to sleep,” he stated, “So, what did you find out?”
“Well this dart belongs to the lovely henchmen of a man by the name of Viktor Mygon,” stated Wesley.
“Business man, we were his lawyer at Wolfram & Hart,” answered Angel.
“Well he also runs a Zoo of dangerous demons,” replied Wesley, “Incase you didn’t forget.”
“So?” asked Angel, he folded his arms across his chest, “You think they took Emma to let people come and see her.”
“Of course, with her reputation in Quortoth, here, it’s clear,” said Wesley.
“Alright, lets get Gunn and find out some more about this whole ordeal,” replied Angel.
“Gunn?” asked Wesley, “Angel, Gunn’s dead.”
DAWN COULDN’T SLEEP. She sat in her bed thinking, packing, she knew she’d be leaving in a couple of days. Dawn was looking in the mirror on her wall at herself. Her purple shirt. Her hair. Just looking at herself.
Conner came in, “I’m worried about Emma.”
Dawn looked at him, “Oh, uh, why wouldn’t you be?”
“Something’s taken her, and I just got her back,” sighed Conner, “I don’t being played with.”
“That’s understandable,” said Dawn walking over to him.
“She plays with me too,” said Conner looking at the ground.
“No she doesn’t okay, she’s going to come right back to you,” smiled Dawn, “And it’s going to be that little romantic weird, relationship.”
Conner just looked at her, “I ache for her,” sighed Conner.
“That’s what a person is in love says,” said Dawn sitting him down on her bed and sitting next to him, “Emma feels the same way no doubt.”
“Really?” asked Conner.
“Yeah of course,” smiled Dawn, “Plus, it’s like you two were made for each other you know-”
Dawn was stopped from finishing her sentence when Conner suddenly kissed her. Dawn pulled away, “Whoa.” Conner just looked at her, he leaned in and kissed her again. Dawn kissed back graciously.
Conner put his hand into her hair and the other hand on her back under her arm and She put her hands on his chest and let the kissing continue. Conner kissed her chin, her neck then pushed her down on her bed and kept kissing her lustfully. Dawn put her hands into his hair.
DAWN WOKE UP. She was breathing hard, “Wow. This can’t be happening.” She got out of her bed she was wearing something different, pajamas, she looked out of the window the day light shinning into the room. “This can’t be happening,” she swallowed.
“IT’S OPEN 24/7,” STATED Wesley.
“When do you think Nina will be awake?’ asked Angel.
“Soon, why?” asked Wesley, “She’s fine.”
“Do you think Conner’s okay?” asked Angel, “She bit him and all.”
“Angel, on one subject,” Wesley said, “One subject at a time okay, so, I’m thinking later me and Dawn can go and see where Emma is, talk to her.”
“Nina,” said Angel.
“No, Emma,” replied Wesley.
Angel pointed, “No, Nina,” Nina was coming out of the basement with some kind of drop cloth.
Angel went over to her. She just looked at him, “I don’t know what to do but, uh, I’m leaving, going to get some more clothes and all.”
“Stay, we’ve got clothes here,” suggested Angel.
“No, I taste blood in my mouth, I don’t think it’s best,” stated Nina.
“Well I taste blood in my mouth all the time,” said Angel nervously, “I mean, well.”
“I understand if you want me to say,” she looked over to Wesley, “Who did I bite.”
“Me,” said Conner coming down the stairs, he his collar down, the wound was healing well, quicker then it would on a human, but it was still there, “No big.”
“You’re a werewolf,” said Nina, “I’m so sorry-”
“No, actually, Nina, we’re not sure about that, him being half vampire and all,” Wesley said.
“Well, I’m going, I don’t want to stand naked in your lobby,” she laughed nervously, she walked past Angel.
Angel grabbed her arm and viciously dug his teeth into her neck. He pulled away, that hadn’t happened. He was a bit relieved but still shocked, “Come back tonight.”
“Sure, you’re the only guy I know with a cage,” laughed Nina.
Angel softly let go of her arm and she took her drop cloth draped around her out of the place. That would seem odd to people walked on the sidewalk. Or driving down the street. Conner looked at Angel, no expression on his face.
“Hi Conner, anything new Wes?” asked Dawn quickly passing by Conner from up stairs. Conner sniffed the air as she passed. Giving her a weird look. Nobody paid any attention to it though.
“Yeah, I guess you could say that,” said Wesley, “Of course.”
“What?” asked Dawn.
Conner went behind the bar and opened the frig and took out the last bag of blood. He bit into the plastic and sat on the bar drinking it. They looked at him. Conner opened his eyes wide and innocently, “What? I’m hungry, now what about Emma?”
“THIS IS YOUR FIRST AND FINAL WARNING, GIRL,” replied Viktor looking at Emma.
Emma had been beaten up. She wasn’t healing yet. Her blood was smeared on the floor, she rolled over on her cell floor, She wiped her nose, “Why do people have to keep doing that?”
“Doing what?” asked Viktor a smile coming on his face.
She didn’t do anything in answer. A guard went to Emma and as she was going to try and moved from him getting on her side, the guard kicked her in the ribs. Emma spit up blood coughing and turned back over on her back, “Beatin’ on me.”
“So, I thought you were supposed to invincible,” answered Viktor, “But you haven’t showed me one bit of invincibility besides that you’re a cold blooded killer.”
“Cold blooded my ass,” the guard went to kick her in the face and she caught his foot and with her strength pushed him down still laying on the floor as she did it. “I don’t kill for fun,” said Emma, “I stopped that for some time.”
The guard had hit his head on the wall behind him and went towards her, “Don’t,” said Viktor. The guard backed away still angry.
“Good,” said Emma pointing at him wearily, “Cause I was goin’ to kick your ass again.”
She looked at Viktor as he spoke, her body healing, “See, there’s consequences to your actions girl.” Emma’s bruises were gone and the blood was gone, all of it. Emma stood up brand new.
“You better have a man with magic powers here, or I could kill you right here,” she stated cocking her head to the side going towards him slowly.
“Don’t worry,” said Viktor, “I’m always prepared.”
Emma stopped her steps and backed away. “Good, that’s best,” she taunted, “Cause right now, you smell like food.”
“Don’t worry, you’ll be feeding at sun down, if something doesn’t kill you for food first,” stated Viktor, “It should be fun to see how you get your food.”
Viktor backed out of the room. Emma kept watching him as he left till the door was closed and the curtain was opened back up. The bars were fixed. People were back there watching her again.
THE GROUP sat in the Lobby, “So,” answered Wesley, “We’ve realized that we can’t find out anything about this place, it’s under wraps.”
“No website,” said Dawn, the whole time they’d been in there, she’d done whatever possible not to look Conner in the eyes, or have anything to do with him.
“Yeah, no website, cause now days there’s usually one for everything,” said Angel.
“The Tranquilizer had some kind of magical engraving in it, so from that we can tell that, Emma is sedated,” answered Wesley.
“Now they can make her do whatever they want,” groaned Conner his voice growling, like he was viciously angry.
They just looked at him, then Angel spoke, “Conner, we’ll find her-”
“You know, this is your fault,” growled Conner, “If you hadn’t of messed her up-”
“That was Angelus Conner,” said Wesley, “Now back to what we’re going to do.”
“We need a certain type of I.D to get into the place which I have a man working on to get,” sighed Wesley, “One for me and Dawn.”
“We can’t I go?” growled Conner, “I want to keep her safe.”
“Well Conner you’d be putting yourself at risk,” said Wesley.
“I don’t want that,” there was a moment after Dawn said that, “He’ll just make the job harder, two of you.”
“What about me?” asked Angel.
Conner got off the bar quickly pointing at him, “You don’t need to go anywhere near Emma.”
“Conner,” said Wesley firmly, he looked to Angel as Conner looked to Wesley, Wes spoke, “They except vampires as well, a vampire with a soul will just make them happy.”
“What about keys?” asked Dawn.
“Key?” asked Wesley.
“Nobody ever told you?” asked Dawn, “I’m a key, or I was.”
“What?” asked Conner looking at her.
“I’m something,” said Dawn looking at him proudly, “Actually I’m a Ancient key that opens every dimension. Of course, I have to be ceremonially drained of blood. Which will cause havoc and the dimensions will bleed into each other and a whole thing. But I might not be a key anymore after we killed this demon named Glory.”
“I don’t think they’ll want you,” said Wesley, “If you’re only power is that. Well they’d want you if you could open dimensions by will and uh, you, could do like magic tricks.”
“I can’t,” said Dawn.
“She’ll be safe then,” replied Wesley, “And of course I’m a human as Well.”
“You don’t think they’ll want me because I’m like a billion yrs. Old, or anything?” asked Dawn.
“A billion?” asked Angel, “Do you remember all that time?”
“Nope, only 19 yr. Of it,” stated Dawn.
Conner was getting jittery, “Where’s Emma, we need Emma, she’s there, we need to get her,” he growled his eyes going yellow.
“Calm down Conner,” said Wesley, “You’re just getting a little overwhelmed.”
“I know what I’m doing,” growled Conner.
“It could also have something to do with the bite,” said Wesley, “Makes you a little more susceptible to anger.”
MARY LIN HEARTFIELD, she opened her hotel room door to a now dressed Nina. Nina came in she was a little on the unease. “Is something wrong?”
“Um… I’m worried,” said Nina.
“Worried, about what?” asked Mary closing the door behind her friend.
Nina turned towards her, “That, uh, I turned someone into a werewolf.”
“You are?” asked Mary, “Um… was it your boyfriend?”
“No, oh, he’s not my boyfriend really, and he’s a vampire,” stated Nina nervously.
“Okay, I guess you can’t go both ways,” sighed Mary sitting down on her couch.
Nina sat down next to her, “How’s your search for Liam?”
“No good,” said Mary, “I’ve been going to clubs, places like that.”
“I don’t think he’d just go to a club because he seems mentally ill,” said Nina.
“I know you’ve got a point,” replied Mary, “I’ve been checking files of missing people, not one, that took a long time.”
“I have hope you’ll be able to find him,” answered Nina, she sighed, “I hope I didn’t turn him.”
“Does he know about werewolves?” asked Mary.
“Yes, he does,” sighed Nina, “That’s a good thing, but he’s part vampire because, my boyfriend is his dad.”
“Is that explanatory?” asked Mary.
“I’ll explain it,” said Nina.
“You seem like something’s still bothering you,” answered Mary.
“I don’t think Angel and I can ever have a relationship,” sighed Nina.
CONNER AND DAWN WERE ACCIDENTALLY In the Lobby together. Wesley and Angel weren’t in there. Conner was pacing.
“How are you doing?” asked Dawn. She was nervous, really nervous.
Conner looked at her, “What’s it to you?”
“I just wondered, I mean, I want Emma back,” said Dawn.
He sighed, “ I’m find, but Emma isn’t, they hurt her, I can feel it.”
“It’s almost sun down, so things should be fine,” said Dawn, “I hope they should fine.”
Conner looked up at her, “You smell different.”
“What?” asked Dawn, “Oh, no, really, do I smell nice?”
He went up to her, smelling her, “Your body is heating.”
“Oh, is it?” asked Dawn.
“You can’t hide it,” he stated.
“What?” she asked.
“I should kill you,” growled Conner.
Dawn backed away, “Hey, hey, none of that.”
Conner looked at her disgusted, “You like me the wrong way.”
Dawn looked nervous, “No I don’t.”
“I smell your lying,” growled Conner.
Nina had slipped in towards the basement without them knowing it, or Conner did he just ignored it. “I’m not, I, I, I-”
“I don’t like you, and don’t like you thinking I could ever love you, cause I love Emma, and that’s who I’ll love till I die, read me,” he roared his eyes going yellow.
“You’re just being angry cause of the bite, how’s that doing?” asked Dawn backing away from Conner.
“Healed,” he spat.
“Okay, that’s good, didn’t want to give up hope on that wound,” she said backing up into the weapons cabinet.
“Shut up, you understand,” he stated, “I don’t like you.”
Dawn was scared for her life. “I don’t want you, just, I don’t, I don’t.”
“More lies,” he said suddenly grabbing his ears, there was a searing whistle like noise in his ears. He pulled his hands away from his ears. Breathing hard he fell on his knees.
“Angel!” said Dawn, “Wes!”
Conner felt his skin vibrate. The lights were too bright for him, he looked up breathing in deeply trying to grasp things.
“What?” said Angel coming out with Wesley.
Conner’s skin started to itch. The pain in his ears came back quickly. They watched Conner. Dawn was crying from fear she was going to die. Conner flung his head back falling backwards landing on his knees, he fell backwards and gasped for breath looking up at the bright lights of the hotel lobby. His ears went pointed suddenly.
“It’s night time,” stated Wesley.
Conner got on his feet and then took off and leapt up over the stairs and ran down the hall. They heard him slam his bedroom door shut. Dawn finally let herself breath.
“Conner’s changing, that’s not a good sign,” stated Wesley.
“No it isn’t,” said Angel.
They heard things in Conner’s room get thrown around angrily, things braking, loud roars.
“TIME TO FEED!” yelled the intercom, Viktor‘s voice.
Emma was in the forest. She was let in through a door, the forest in fact was caged in. Nothing could get out, there’d be consequences to their actions if they tried. Emma heard the demons around in the forest. Emma heard something else though.
“That?” she asked herself stepping forward through the grass. She was hungry but there was something else there, in the forest. A whimpering sound. Emma took off quickly through the forest.
She went towards the crying sound. Not to eat the one shedding the tears, but to keep them safe. Emma ran and ran quicker then a human, vampire a like. She leapt over a creek and down a hill landing at the bottom. The crying being was getting closer.
A little girl was sitting the forest crying, “Mommy!” she heard the sound growls, something predatorily coming towards her, she got quiet, she stood up crying.
Suddenly the demon of question jumping out the pushes and went to bite her. Emma leapt out of through the trees and kicked it in the head killing it. Emma landed in front of the girl hearing the demons coming closer, screams in the forest as well. Other people out there being hurt.
Emma saw the cameras around the area, cameras everywhere. The little girl was afraid. Emma looked at the girl, “I’m going to keep you safe, okay.” She knelt down next to the little girl.
“I want my mommy and daddy please,” she sobbed wiping her 4yr. Old eyes of her tears.
Emma picked her up and held her listening to her surroundings. “Emma,” said the intercom, “That’s not how it works.”
“I don’t care!” yelled Emma, the little girl clinging to her, “I’m not going to let you kill an innocent little girl.”
“No you’re going to kill her,” said Viktor, “You know, she smells just like food.”
“I know better,” said Emma caressing the little girls head. “Hold on tight,” she said to the little girl, “I’m going to run really fast, and try to get you out of here.”
The little girl put her arms around her tightly. And Emma took off. She ran through the trees, left and right. Emma leapt over a demon as she ran and the demon was surprised. But Emma kept going the girl close to her. Emma made it to a large concrete wall. Nothing stopping her from getting over the wall with the little girl she’d just have to climb up a tree and get over it.
Emma leapt up into a tree and made her way to the top of the wall and went to get over it when the girl was grabbed out of her hands immediately. Emma reached for her but something grabbed her by the leg and through the tree.
She was yanked out of the tree and kicked in the head. Emma rolled over and onto her feet. The girl was screaming on the other side for her, for help. Emma was going to run at the wall and leap over it for her.
The demon grabbed her and punched her in the head then kicked her in the ribs. Emma fell against the wall and rolled out of the way as the demon through a punch at her and missed, hit the wall, missed again. The wall was getting dented by the power of his blows. Dust falling on her. Emma got up on her feet.
Emma didn’t hear the girls screams anymore, her nose was bleeding and her lip was busted. She thought she had a broken rib. But soon it was healed and the demon was suddenly in front of her as she had decided to ran and her punched her in the face. She flew against a tree and fell down it.
Stood up quickly, she did. She jumped up and kicked the demon across the face her eyes going yellow. She punched it in the face. Emma was grabbed from behind by a demon like it and her arms were restrained by it. She kicked it in the crotch then ducked out of the way of the other demon.
“Emma, you know there’s consequences to your actions,” laughed Viktor over the intercom.
Emma pushed down the first demon then elbowed the other one behind her in the head and spun around and kicked him in the face. She punched him in the head with her left then her right. She kneed him in the chest then grabbed his head and snapped his big thing of a neck.
The other demon went to punched her from behind and she ducked the blow and as she went back up she flipped over him and onto the other side of him and grabbed his shoulders brought him back and kneed him in the back braking his spine. The demon went limp as she snapped his neck.
Emma listened, she heard more coming, she took off. “Emma, Emma, Emma, such a bad girl you’re being, killing other demons, not eating. You’ll have to be grounded.”
Suddenly she stopped running and said to the intercom and yelled, “I’m not going to be put in a dirt hole!” She didn’t know what grounded meant, then she took off again. Her wounds healing as she ran.
A wall was through the forest, she could jump it being at a run. Then another demon jumped out in front of her, she punched it in the head, “Deer in the head lights,” she growled. A demon came up behind her and was going to grab her, she then flipped forward and jumped up and kicked him in the head landing, “How, my toe,” she said.
The demon was dead. Another came out and went down kicking him off his feet and she jumped up landing on her feet and kicked him in the head as he got up. The demon was flipped onto his stomach, it’s blood from it’s face leaked on the floor.
Emma heard coming through the forest, a tranquilizer gun had shot a trank. She ducked it but then was shot in the arm by one that had come out of nowhere. She pulled it out of her arm, she was weakened immediately.
Another one of those demons punched her in the head and she went down coughing up blood from the blow. Then the demon kicked her in the ribs, then grabbed her by the hair and punched her in the face. Emma went to punched him, he grabbed her hand and broke her fingers. Emma moaned in pain.
The demon punched her in the stomach again. Then started choking her Emma used her legs and pushed him off her and leapt up. She went over to him as he stood up. Emma had shoved him through a large piece of broken branch.
Emma gripped the piece of would and slammed it up through him, he still lived, blood gushing out of one of his sides though. Emma slammed the piece of wood through his head though.
Blood dripped down her face from her head wounds, she fell back and trying to get up. Suddenly she was shot by another trank by a guard and she went to a dazed state and was dragged off.
“I’M VERY, VERY, VERY DISAPPOINTED,” growled Viktor, “ Our rules here aren’t that hard to keep to, feed when it’s time to feed. Don’t try saving your food.”
Emma laying against the wall of her cell breathing hard, still bloodied up badly. She now had cuts on her like she’d been whipped. The whip that Viktor grasped proved that theory. Emma started laughing. “What’s so funny?!” he demanded hitting the whip against the floor.
She licked the blood off her lips, “Is this… supposed to… teach me a lesson?” she smiled.
“Why, what of it?” growled Viktor, “It is.”
“You clearly don’t know… much about me,” she started to sit herself up, “Did you hear my cry during any of that.”
“No, but you can’t hold back the tears for long,” spat Viktor.
“You don’t know me,” growled Emma, “I’ve taken worse when I was little.”
“How dare you!?” demanded Viktor, “You take that back.”
Emma stood up and put her arms out weakly closing her eyes, “Lets try that again,” then she made that jaw smile that Spike has done before.
Viktor went up to her and hit her. She went un phased, just moved her head back into place. Quickly she went to grab his throat but he back up and grabbed his whip and hit her with it across the face. Her face bled He did it again.
Emma fell to her knees, “Come on, is that all you’ve got,” she laughed, “I could take that when I was 10.” He his her again, again, again, again. “Don’t you have anything else?” she asked leaning against the wall proud of herself.
Her wounds started to heal he went towards her, “You’ll pay.”
“I wouldn’t come near me if I were you,” laughed Emma, “I’m starting to heal.”
Viktor spit on her, Emma wiped it off her, she giggled under her breath. Viktor grabbed his gun out of it’s holster under his coat.
“I wouldn’t shoot that if I were you,” She cracked her neck, “Soon as the bullets drop out, I can throw them back at you and, you’re dead,” she smiled at him, “So don’t.”
Viktor was fed up, breathing hard. He just walked out of the room and slammed the cell door behind him shooting the two guards standing next to the cell to take his wrath out on them. He kept walking away from the place.
HER CELL CURTAIN was open during the day. Emma laid out on the floor healed as it was now. She just laid out on the floor listening to her surroundings. She smelled Wesley and Dawn and quickly opened her eyes looking over to the side where they bars were. Emma stood up.
Wesley and Dawn stood there next to the cell as close as they could get. With Emma, that’s in arms reach almost. “Are you okay Emma?” asked Dawn.
“Sure,” said Emma going to the cell.
The people were as much around Emma as before, “We can’t get you out of here yet,” said Wesley.
“Logical,” she said leaning on the bars, “Of course, I think I’m starting to like it here,” she pointed to the sign, “I’ve got me a nice sign and everything, they put my full name on there, Emma William Summers, and they don’t know what I am either.” Her voice got lower, “Where’s Conner.”
“We thought it’d be better that he not come,” said Dawn.
“Smart thinking,” sighed Emma.
“He got bitten by Nina, a werewolf,” said Wesley.
“Is he alright?” asked Emma.
“Yeah, so far,” said Wesley, “We think he changes during full moon time, but we’re still looking into anything extra on that.”
“I’ll tell you this,” said Emma, “I’m only to do pretty much as I please when it’s feeing time,” replied Emma, “I’m starved, the people that they set loose in there, the forest, smell like food.”
“We’ll get you out,” said Dawn.
“Before I kill someone please,” said Emma.
“You can hold back,” replied Wesley.
“You know how a vampire can when they’re hungry get intoxicated when they hear about blood/hear the heart beat. Same for me, too much vamp in me, I’ll kill,” she sighed, “I can only go so long, it’s difficult.”
“Sort of, understandable,” said Dawn.
“I’m not going to kill anyone as long as Possible,” stated Emma.
“Good,” answered Wesley.
“The guy, that bleedin’ leader, Viktor Mygon, he gets angry easily, and makes mistakes, I almost killed him last night when he was beating me,” stated Emma.
“Beating you?” questioned Dawn.
“You have to do what he says, but, if he’s angered he’ll make mistakes,” said Emma.
“Thanks, we’ll get you out,” said Wesley.
“Feeding time, sun down, best to get here a little while before it,” suggested Emma.
CONNER LAID ON the floor of his room, shirtless, his shirt torn up, scratches on his chest, which healed immediately. Things were broken, glass, the bed was torn up to bits, he remember every bit of it too. The mattress was next to him. His Chester drawers were down on the ground, his lamp broken. Ramshackle all around. Conner grabbed a shirt off the ground, black T-shirt and walked out of the room as he pulled it over his head.
ANGEL WAS IN HIS OFFICE. “Why does that smell have to be that way?” he asked himself. Not himself.
“Because, all humans smell nice,” replied Darla, “You want to taste it.”
Angel looked hungry, horrible, “Stop, I’m not going to do it.”
“Nina’s luscious body is down stairs, she’s still asleep,” growled Darla, “My boy, you need the nourishment.”
“Shut up,” said Angel, “I’m not going to kill her.”
Conner heard him talking to himself. He stopped on the stairs out of sigh of Angel and listened.
“NO,” roared Angel, “She’s innocent, I’m not going to hurt her.”
Darla laughed, “But you don’t understand, the blood is right there, even in your boy.”
“You’re not real, now go away, go, go, go, GO AWAY!!” yelled Angel.
Conner watched him pacing his office. “You feel the heart beats, just make the heart beats stop, cut them up, eat them.”
Angel put his hands on his ears, “STOP THAT!!! STOP IT!!!”
Nina came out of the basement her clothes on, she went to Angel, “Angel, is something wrong, I heard you down stairs.”
Angel looked at her quickly. “No, I stubbed my toe.”
“And you were telling it to stop,” questioned Nina.
“Everything’s fine,” sighed Angel ignoring Darla.
“GRAB HER UP, KILL HER!!” roared Darla, “My boy knows what to do.”
“You don’t look so good,” said Nina.
“Just leave,” said Angel.
“What,” she went towards him, he backed up, “Are you some kind of vampire sick?”
“Leave,” said Angel.
“Not until I know that you’re fine,” said Nina.
“LEAVE!!” yelled Angel jumping at her, his face going vampy, “I SAID LEAVE BITCH!!”
Nina back away quickly and into the Lobby. Angel caught up to her and grabbed and sunk his teeth into her long neck, throbbing artery. He started to drink her like he breathed her, relief and pain, burning, through his body.
Conner saw the whole thing, and didn’t do anything, he just went back up stairs. Angel let go of Nina dropping her, he looked at her poor defenseless body on the ground. “Nina, Nina,” he tried to shake her awake trying to understand what he’d done, “NINA!!” he was panicking, “What did I do?”
WESLEY HAD started driving Gunn’s truck. A vehicle already paid for. Being in that truck was sad but, of course, it wasn’t about the truck. It was about the long ago friend, at least he gets the rest now. Dawn was on the unease.
“Wesley?” asked Dawn.
“Yes?” he replied turning a corner.
She folded her arms looking out the window, “You’re an adult, so uh-”
“What?” replied Wesley, “What would you like to ask?” his voice wasn’t harsh, it was his regular helpful voice.
“So, uh, I have this friend that likes this guy, but it’s wrong because, there’s these circumstances, and,” Wesley’s eyes were opening wide as Dawn kept talking. “I mean, we’ve been fighting the good fight with side by side each other for sometime, like 3months. I’ve helped looking for Emma just as much as him.”
Wesley pulled over on the road, Wesley looked at her, “Take that back,” he said, if he had been drinking something he would spit it. His eyes were wide and he was confused.
“What?” asked Dawn, “Is there something wrong?”
“Dawn, for heavens sake, I’m too old for you,” stated Wesley.
“What, ewe Wes, not at all what I was saying,” said Dawn, “My friend, fine, Me.”
“I understand, that you’re young and new to the dating world-”
“Totally not,” said Dawn, “I’ve had a lot of boyfriends.”
“Okay, still I’m about old enough to be your father if not,” answered Wesley.
“I was talking about Conner,” stated Dawn.
“Oh,” swallowed Wesley, he felt like he had just made the biggest fool of himself, “Conner, yes, sorry.”
“You think way too much of yourself,” said Dawn, “And you’re still old no matter what.”
“Thanks,” said Wesley pulling out of the spot he pulled over in.
“Okay, so, I’ve got feelings for Conner,” she replied.
“Well, I have to say that’s not the best choice of crushes,” replied Wesley.
“Crush?” asked Dawn, “Come on, not really, a crush. Fine a crush.”
“Liking the practical boyfriend of mass murderer, who’s your niece, might not lead to good things,” answered Wesley.
“And he knows,” said Dawn, she put her hands over her chest again, “He kind of smelled it about me.”
“Bad part about living with people with a high sense of smell. Back before these ordeals started occurring, Emma found the last turkey sandwich in that place,” replied Wesley.
“She likes turkey sandwiches a lot you know,” said Dawn.
“I don’t know where she puts them either, eats them, where do they go?” asked Wesley.
“Back to what I was saying though, what do I do?” asked Dawn.
“I don’t know,” said Wesley.
“I should probably leave town,” answered Dawn.
“I wouldn’t say no to that,” said Wesley.
SUN DOWN, 2 HR. AWAY. Angel got back to the Lobby where, Conner, Wesley, and Dawn were already. “Where have you been?” asked Wesley.
“Out, for a bit,” said Angel, he looked like he’d been feeding, he fed on Nina, then went out and hid her body.
“Me and Dawn went down to the butcher and got you some blood for later,” said Wesley opening up the weapons cabinet to grab a sword.
“Does he really need it?” scoffed Conner, who had as soon as Angel got in there, started to watch that vampire.
“I’m not Angelus Conner,” said Angel.
“Of course,” said Conner disrespectfully.
“Okay, so,” said Wesley, “We’re going in there, 2 hr. before sun down. We should have enough time to get Emma in and out.”
“And kill Viktor,” stated Angel.
“I want to get Emma,” said Conner.
“Dawn, you stay here and wait for Nina,” said Wesley, “Angel and I will go to Viktor, and Conner can brake Emma out.”
“If anything goes wrong Conner, you run to us,” growled Angel.
“Viktor has many powerful sorcerers, so be discreet,” he said to Conner, “They won’t know what you are the minute you walk in, you’ll have some time.”
“Lets go,” stated Angel.
EMMA STOOD in cell. Just watched her surroundings, the sun wouldn’t be going down for awhile. She listened to everyone. She didn’t really know what to do with herself. She planned to get out, what about an early feeding, Emma looked to her cell door, “Hey VIKTOR!!” she yelled.
She cracked her neck, “Let me out, I’M HUNGRY!” she growled. Then intercom came on in her cell, there was one, she didn’t know that.
“It’s not time to feed my sweet girl,” it said, Viktor, sounding all prim and prideful of himself.
Emma went to it, “You like carnage, I want out before the other demons get to have a go at the feast.”
“I thought you were against human eating,” said Viktor.
“Not if I don’t think about it,” she sighed, “I don’t want to be beaten anymore, so if I have to eat on humans, then I’ll do it. And I’ll do it well.”
“I’ll think about it,” said Viktor.
He went off. Emma had wanted to go out now, she had a good feeling about now. She hit the intercom. Sparks flying a little but that didn’t affect her. Emma looked around. She caught a whiff of someone familiar, she smiled, “Let me out soon Viktor, or I’ll come out of here and eat you up.”
THEY HAD GOTTEN THERE, They stood outside the forest walls. Guards all around. Cameras were inside the place not outside. “Why did we bring a tent?” asked Conner.
“If they do see us,” whispered Wesley, “They’ll think we’re stupid campers. And Angel’s in there.”
“Yeah, always,” said Conner.
“I heard that,” sneered Angel inside then weird looking tent that Conner and Wesley had in a wheel barrel.
“Keep talking,” said Conner, “I’ll open the tent sun roof.”
“You wouldn’t dare,” growled Angel.
“I killed you once didn’t I?” asked Conner.
“Shhh..” Wesley pointing at a guard post.
Conner ran over to it and knocked on the door. He heard the sound of demons and men in there alike. The door opened and Conner went in. He was in there a long moment.
“How are things going?” asked Angel.
“I don’t know,” whispered Wesley sitting still.
Conner came out after a moment and went back over to them, “There’s a door in there, and no light for Mr. Ashes here.”
“Good, lets go,” said Wesley.
Conner pushed the wheel barrel into the security room. They let Angel out in there. Wesley looked at the security cameras, “They’re letting the demons out early.”
EMMA STOOD where she was let out to. She listened to everything around her in the deep forest. She listened, she heard every demon in the place that was let out. Emma sniffed the air. A guard came to her, “I’m here to make sure you play by the rules.”
“Why wouldn’t I, I’ve changed my mind,” said Emma walking forward.
“To what?” asked the guard.
“Come,” she laughed, “I can smell a nice juicy human waiting for me.”
Emma and the guard walked deep into the forest, people through out the forest were screaming. The other demons were in act already. The guard watched her as she suddenly stopped. They stayed still as Emma pretended to locate herself a human.
Suddenly she jumped up and kicked the guard across the face. The guard died on impact. Emma landed and quickly went to the man boots, yank them off and inhumanly put them on. She stood up, “Thanks, that hurts to do without shoes on.”
She started walking again. A demon form the zoo area came towards her and she punched it in the head killing it then went on.
“EMMA JUST KILLED A GUARD,” said Wesley, “The other guards are going for her.”
“I’ll got locate Viktor,” sighed Angel.
“Alright, Conner, lets go,” said Wesley.
EMMA DUCKED OUT OF THE way of a demon fist then punched him in the face. Her eyes were yellow. She flipped up and pounced on one of the demons then flipped back up onto her feet and kicked the one she landed in front of in the head. She grabbed his rifle and smashed it across his face.
She broke the rifle against her knee bending it in half and she threw it down. She stood still and threw the gun at one’s head hitting it and killing him. Emma went on one hand and kicked the two in front of her killing them. She went back down and grabbed the two coming from her sides and grabbed their collars and threw them threw the trees.
Another started shooting darts at her and leapt out of the way into a tree. She went through the tree and landed on another demon and she hid behind the tree as the dart armed guard came around the other side. Emma held onto the tree grasping it trunk.
The guard demon came around she grabbed him with her legs and flew up snapping his neck with her feet and spun around landing taking quickly to spinning the other direction and punched the demon in the head blood on the grass. One put a gun to her head from behind and Emma swung her right leg behind her and kicked the demon in the head, and he fell to the ground dead.
Another demon came at Emma, she ducked right then a left, grabbed his right again and spun around like she was dancing with him and kicked another down that was trying to get her then grabbed the demon’s other hand as well. She pulled his arms back towards her and kicked him in the chest. The demon fell down.
Emma quickly went to kick the demon coming at her from behind, and stopped her foot from his head then demon stopped and looked the foot. And she leapt up in a spinning motion and kicked him with the opposite foot killing him. She landed.
A demon actually punched her in the face, she fell backwards and on her back. One came at her and she flung her legs up kicking the demon in the head and down and flipping up on her own feet in the process.
The demons kept coming and so did Conner and Wesley. Wesley pulled out his 12 cage from his coat and was laying it thickly on the demons heads. 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 down. But they kept going. Which the gang marveled at.
Conner punched one in the head, killed it then elbowed the one coming at him from behind. Killed it. He kicked another demon in the chest. He then grabbed one by the head and quickly snapped it’s neck. His eyes were yellow.
One grabbed him by the waist and he was lifted up. Conner kicked the demon in front of him and Emma snapped the demon holding Conner, it’s neck.
“Run,” said Conner looking at her hostilely. Emma looked at him funny, but the demons kept coming. Emma then grabbed Conner’s shoulders and leapt over him kicked a demon down and killing it. Conner punched a demon, “RUN!!”
Emma took off because Conner’s eyes changed, they went completely black the pupils went blue. Conner looked down. He took in a deep breath and fell down on his knees.
“Night time,” said Wesley looking up quickly.
A demon went at Wesley and Wesley hit it with his 12 gage hilt.
Conner gasped for breath, the demons were kind of afraid. They backed away from him. That loud sound came to Conner’s ears, whistling, wouldn’t stop. Conner grabbed his ears and winced and moaned in pain. He fell down in a sort of a seizure.
Again it happened. He started clawing at his chest throwing his head back. He shirt ripped off him. He winced his mouth opened, gasping for breath as he looked up at the moon. His eye teeth got long then they usually do, dog like, just the fangs though.
He gripped at the grass under him dug his hands in the ground. His side burns grew into a beard on the bottom, on his jaw line, his hair got a little long. Conner’s ears were already pointed. Breaths he took became growls under his breath.
Conner sat up the demons then shrugged their shoulders and went at Conner. Conner leapt up and punched one. One came up behind him and Conner scratched at him viciously. Conner grabbed and demon and bit him then quickly broke his neck and threw him down.
Wesley backed up into a tree. The demons weren’t messing with him. Conner’s skin in the process of beating on the demon started getting whiter. He put his fist threw one’s chest then pulled it out and jumped up and leapt on one demon smashing the being.
Blood splattered on Conner. He roared at the other demons angrily. He ran at them and leaped up landing on them killing them . One went to beat him over the head with his gun and Conner flew up and pushed him into a tree, bit him then hit him across the head killing him blood hitting the ground. Conner flipped back ward then leapt back and kicked a demon in the head, blood getting on his boots and hit pants.
His fighting was barbaric. He bit another demon and then threw him down.
“Conner?” asked Wesley.
Conner dropped the last demon wiped the blood of him mouth with his tongue. Longer but. Conner walked towards him, his walked threatening.
“Are you in there?” asked Wesley. Conner started to growl at him. Conner cocked the gun. He roared at Wesley. “Back up,” stated Wesley, “If you’re in there, back up.”
Conner smelled something, “Emma,” he growled licking his lips. His voice was a growl and unrecognizable. Conner turned from him and walked away flexing his arms.
“No,” said Wesley, he shot at Conner, “You’re not going to hurt Emma.”
The dog man leapt up into the trees away from Wesley. “Oh now,” sighed Wesley.
ANGEL walked battle less through Viktor’s on Zoo estate. No demons going to him. “Go in here,” said Conner standing next to him.
“Why?” snarled Angel.
“Because, something’s in there,” sneered Conner, “Go in there, for god’s sake, I’m helping you.”
The door opened slowly, automatically. Angel saw some kind of blue jewel in the middle of the room. There was cameras for everywhere in the place. The other demons where in a their cages as usual. Demons were all over on the screens.
Emma was fighting demons, Conner was, Wesley was. Wesley was running out of bullets. Angel then took the blue jewel from the middle of the room then took it and threw it down on the ground. A blue sphere of light shot through the place. All over.
Angel was thrown against the wall behind him. The blue went away quickly. Angel looked quickly to the screen, all the demons were disappearing in every screen, all over the place. The bars on the cells were disappearing. The demons decided it was time to run free.
“What the hell do you think you’re doing?” sneered Viktor, he was behind Angel, “You know how much money I make here.”
“Doing evil things?” asked Angel.
“Yeah,” said Conner, sarcastically, “Doing evil things.”
“Shut up,” said Angel turning to Conner.
“Who are you talking to?” growled Viktor.
“Yeah, who are you talking to?” asked Conner.
Angel looked back at Viktor, “Okay, so, are we going to do this easy way or the hard way.”
“What do you think?” scoffed Viktor.
EMMA WAS very alert. She looked around, the demons all gone, all of them. Her wounds healed. Emma sniffed the air, “Conner?” she asked. She heard a low growling. “Full moon, duh,” said Emma, “It’s Emma,” she sighed not sure what to say, “You don’t want to hurt me.”
It was dark and she didn’t know where exactly he was. But she listened for him. Conner came out of the bushes. Emma saw him. Conner had blood on his breath, demon only. Still it was close to human.
“You know it’s me,” said Emma.
Conner went towards her and went up to her. Emma looked at him. “Emma,” he growled. There was that searing sound again in his ears and he swiftly hit Emma across the face. She went down being thrown a couple of feet to the ground and hitting a tree.
Emma got back up, “CONNER, DON’T!!”
Conner didn’t seem to care anymore, didn’t know Emma. The ringing wouldn’t stop in his ears. Emma ducked a swipe and he hit the trunk of the tree knocking a great chunk from it. She rolled out of the way of the falling tree.
He followed her and grabbed her and punched her. Then went to bite her and she threw his head from her. Her eyes went yellow and she punched him in the face then again. Conner leapt at her and she kicked him off.
Emma leapt back up on her feet and shot off through the forest. Conner quickly followed behind. Emma kept going she leapt over the creek to run up the hill and Conner grabbed her mid way to the top and thy started slipping through the grass. Conner on top of her going down to bite her.
They landed in the wet creak and she punched him in the face. She then leapt out of the creek and went back the way she came. Conner slowly stood up and let out a great roar as she ran from him.
“STUPID VAMPIRE,” said Viktor.
Angel punched Viktor in the face. Viktor fell back against the wall, he got back up and dodged a blow from Angel. He blocked Angel’s right, left, right, right. Angel jumped up and went to kick him across the face. Viktor pushed his foot down.
Angel punched him in the face. Viktor’s face went vampire. Angel backed up, “You called me stupid vampire?”
“Yes,” he roared jumping up and kicking Angel in the face. Viktor went to do it again. Angel grabbed his leg and threw it down.
Viktor ducked blow then punched Angel in the face, he went to kick Angel again and Angel ducked out of the way. Angel backed up. “What the hell is wrong with you, keeping demons in a zoo?”
“Making money,” growled Viktor.
Angel started blocking his blows, “What makes you,” another one blocked, “Think you’re so,” he grabbed his fist and punched him, “So strong.”
Viktor punched him in the face, Angel dodged his next blow, “Cause I,” he went to punch Angel, Angel caught his fist, “I am.” Viktor then slammed him through the wall. Then another, Angel let go of his fist fell backwards and slid down the stairs of the estate.
His opponent leapt over him and grabbed him up by his shirt and threw him into the banister. Angel grabbed a piece of the wood and went to stake Viktor. Viktor grabbed a piece of the banister and hit him across the face with it like it was a large pole. Angel backed away and put down the stake then grabbed up a piece of wood like Viktor’s, “I’ve got to have everything,” growled Angel.
Viktor quickly hit him across the face spun around and slammed the piece of wood up between his legs. Angel had blocked it though from doing any damage with his piece of stair. He then pushed down and flipped up and over Viktor and hit him in the back of the head.
Viktor fell down on the ground and moved out of the way of Angel’s blow before he got staked. He stood up and dodged Angel’s blow then punched him in the face. Angel dropped the pole that slid across the floor.
Our boy flipped up onto his feet and punched Viktor in the head. Viktor stepped backwards. He then jumped up and kicked Angel across the face, tried it twice in a row and Angel ducked. Angel then grabbed Viktor’s pole and slammed it into his chest.
Viktor didn’t dust, “You missed,” laughed Viktor.
Angel then yanked the piece of wood up and Viktor’s eyes opened wide as he flew into dust, “Thanks a lot.” Dust, gone.
Angel put the pole down.
EMMA WAS HIDING IN A TREE. She tried to stay perfectly still, tears going down her cheeks. Conner would smell her fear, he would know where she was. There’s no point. Everything was quiet, everything. She could hear Conner anymore.
She was about to breath. Suddenly Conner slammed her out of the tree and threw her on the ground. He went down to bite her and she punched in the face and he was thrown off her, her eyes were still yellow. Crawl away from him she did.
Conner recouped quickly and was going back towards her. She backed up into a wall. “Conner, are you in there?” she cried.
Conner didn’t see right. He just kept going towards her. Growling with every breath. Conner went at her quickly and she rolled out of the way forward past him going on all fours and standing up she went to run away but he was already in front her.
He looked her in the eyes then smacked her once, twice, Emma fell back wards. Her face was bloody. The blood seeped back into the wounds as she stood up pushing him away from her. He wouldn’t stop trying to get her and she punched him in the face.
Emma backed up, he came back towards her and she went to kick him but he ducked and leapt at her and threw her threw the wall. They were in the parking lot. Emma pushed him off and leapt over a car, she punched the lock on one it broke. Then she rolled under the car as Conner came by.
He sniffed for her in the parking lot. Emma opened a door of a car and slammed it then ran quickly to another car and rolled under it. Conner roared for her. She rolled under a car.
He sniffed the air, but couldn’t define where she was. He went over to the car she slammed the door of. He looked at it, through the windows she wasn’t there. Conner roared Angrily and picked up and threw the car.
She thought about the timing quickly. As soon as that car came crashing down she broke the lock of a car and got in before he could hear her. The car landed glass shattering. Emma got in the floor board of the back seat of the other car.
Emma got ever so quiet, calmed her breathing, closed her eyes and listened for him. Conner saw the lock of a broken car door. He pulled the door off the car. She trembled, tears going down her cheeks. She had to stay quiet, she heard everything he did. Every step he made.
Conner looked in, no Emma. He growled angrily. He picked up the car and tossed it. The SUV went flying through the air and Emma realized where it would land.
She leaped to the door going to get out, too late the car landed on the one she was in. Emma screamed. Conner turned to where he heard it. He went towards the car.
The SUV was pushed off by Conner. He saw her, Emma was bloody and she was in the seat. She had glass on her. Her wounds weren’t healing. She pushed the glass off but there was no hope. Conner pulled the door off. There was just enough room in there under the bent roof for him and a little more room.
Conner growled at her and quickly grabbed her and yanked out of the car and she fell against the car sit up holding her arm. Conner went to bite her quickly. Emma was trembling. Conner sniffed her neck. He pulled his head away from her neck.
Emma looked at him, her face wet with more then blood. Conner kneeling in front of her leaned in and smelled her cheek. He didn’t seem so vicious now.
“Conner,” she coughed.
Conner licked the blood of her cheek. He growled at the taste of her tears and she flinched. He started to whimper a little like a dog. Emma slowly used her left hand, the one that she didn’t cradle like it was hurt. She took her hand and moved his hair out of his face. Conner looked at her.
“Emma,” he groaned in his growling like voice.
Emma winced pulling the piece of glass out of her side. She threw down the piece of glass and kept looking at him. He sat over her. Emma stroked his face. Her healing not occurring. Conner made that hurt sad puppy sound putting his head in her chest in a comforting way.
Emma just looked up at the sky for a long time. Just looked up as he snuggled his face against her neck. Wesley and Angel came out of the place through the gaping wall hole. Emma closed her eyes. Conner pulled up looking at the others.
“See,” sighed Wesley.
Conner touched her left arm and put it around his shoulders then helped her up and walked her towards the others. Emma looked at them pulling away from Conner and walking on her own at a limp. Conner followed her.
“I want to go home,” said Emma.
“Alright,” said Wesley looking at Emma and Conner.
DAY ARRIVED. Angel was sitting in his office. The imaginary people weren’t around. At the moment. Emma walked in. Angel looked up at her. Emma was fine. “Are you okay?”
“Yeah,” she sighed, “You?”
“My battle wasn’t that bad-” he looked at her face, “Oh, I see. Sorry about that Angelus-”
“I’ve been, beaten, and tortured all my bleedin’ life,” she said going towards him holding her hands like she didn’t know what to do with them, “It’s not about the torture, it’s about, more of. Why, and memories of why.”
“I don’t believe that, I think I really hurt you, I should of stayed dead,” sighed Angel.
“No, you have a purpose, that’s why you’re here,” she assured.
“What are you saying?” asked Angel, “I’ve been told I have a purpose, for years.”
“I’m also saying, though I’ve not really said it,” she swallowed, “Okay, I don’t know if I forgive you, not yet. It’s confusing. A beating I can get over that but, I don’t think I forgive you.”
“Contradicting yourself Emma,” said Angel.
“I said it was confusing,” she sighed.
They looked at each other for a long moment. “That thing with Conner.”
“Wesley told me, only temporary, that was it,” answered Emma.
“You have a way with him,” said Angel.
“I figure,” she sighed.
DAWN went up to Conner in the hall next to his bedroom, “Hi.”
“What do you want?” asked Conner, not specifying on a feeling he had going towards her in the statement.
“I’m sorry, I’m gong to leave, It’s just a crush, and I know better,” said Dawn.
“You should,” he said bluntly, no emotion in his voice.
“I may not stop the way I feel but, you’re taken,” said Dawn, “I’ll have to move on, even though it kind of hurts and stuff.”
“Then move on,” he said, that sounded like he was trying to hurt her feelings, “I’ve got to go talk to Angel.”
Conner passed her. Dawn just watched him leave down the hall. Dawn looked down, “Fine, I will move on. That’s what I was saying. Alright,” she took a breath, “You go talk to Angel.”
