A Trip to Hogwarts: A Fight to Remember

by littlewiccan

Buffy cringed in pain as her eyes fluttered open after a moment of unconsciousness. She pushed herself off the floor of the Great Hall and winced as she cut her hands on the tiny shards of glass she had been lying on.

She looked around and saw most of her friends were unconscious or badly injured. This demon had really taken its toll on them. Buffy watched in horror as the demon flung Gunn through a window and onto the grounds of the school. She could see Willow holding Tara, who had received a broken arm. The red head had also gotten a few gifts from the fight, including a bloody nose from some magic she had preformed.

Giles was on the floor knocked out. Buffy smiled, he actually looked peaceful. Buffy began to study the beast trying to find its weakness as Xander ran over to the window Gunn had fallen through and yelled his friend’s name. Unfortunately Xander was so busy trying to see if Gunn was alright he was unable to see that the beast was right behind him.

“Xander,” Anya yelled, stepping in front of him and taking the blow. Xander watched as she was thrown into one of the stone walls and slumped to the floor. Xander ran over to her.

Buffy ran over to the beast and tried to land a blow but she was thrown away like a rag doll. Spike and Angel followed suit with Cordy by their side but they were unsuccessful as well.

Wesley walked over, limping laightly and beganto shoot the beast with a gun but the bullets didn’t stop him and the beast just walked up to his attacker and grabbed him by the throat. Again Buffy made another attempt to harm the monster by jumping on his back and plunging a knife into his neck. To her dismay the knife shattered but the beast did drop Wesley, who was now unconscious. Fred ran over to him and put his head on her knees.

The beast ran backwards with Buffy on his back and slammed into a wall, trying to crush Buffy between the wall and himself. She gasped in pain as she fell to the floor, clutching a few broken ribs.

Angel went in for another attack but his sword broke against the demon’s back. In resonse to the attack the demon took a piece of wood and tried to slam it into Angel’s heart but luckily the vampire moved out of the way at the last second and instead the piece of wood was logged in his neck. He yelled out in pain as Cordy went to his side.

Spike ran towards the monster and tried to injure it with a few blows but he was unable and the monster threw him into a wall, so hard that the stone crumbled and left a dent where Spike had made contact.

Nothing's stopping it Buffy thought in dismay and that’s when she realized something, the only thing that could ever harm it would be itself. The words Giles had read in the watcher’s diary echoed in her mind.

Buffy ran forward and kicked the beast’s hand hard, causing it to hit its chest and a finger to break off. The monster growled in pain and lunged for Buffy. She ducked under its arms and rolled to where the broken finger had fallen. She picked it up and ran over to the beast, ducking under its arm she plunged the finger into its chest with all her strength. The beast howled in pain and backhanded her.

Everyone watched as the beast began to scream and then it burst into a blinding light. When the light was gone, all that was left was a pile of charred stone and rock.

Buffy sighed in relief and began to get up as Dawn, Connor, and Harry ran into the Great Hall. The three teens looked around in shock.

“We missed everything,” Dawn said as Buffy helped up Giles, who had just regained consciousness.

“Yes, well be grateful you did,” Giles said, rubbing his head.

“Oh dear,” Madam Pomfrey said as she entered the room and began to survey the damages, “Never in all my years have I had to repair this many injuries.” She shook her head.

“What can we say?” Xander said, “We’re a lively bunch.”

Everyone smiled at that and Madam Pomfrey began to call for some help to get everyone over to the infirmary, where she could heal all their injuries.

“On behalf of Hogwarts we thank you,” McGonagall said to the group about a week or 2 later. They were all outside saying their goodbyes before they left.

“It’s been a pleasure, Minerva,” Giles told her, giving her a smile and shaking her hand. She looked at him, “Well, apart from the demons and murders.”

She smiled, “Take care, Rupert.”

“Well, I guess this is goodbye,” Dawn said to Connor and Harry.

“Yeah,” Harry said.

Dawn smiled at him and gave him a hug, “Write lots okay.”

“Sure,” he said, “YOu guys write lots too.”

“I will,” Connor said and then he turned to Dawn.

“I’m gonna go say goodbye to everybody else,” Harry said, taking that as his cue to leave.

“I’m gonna miss you,” Connor said.

“Me too,” Dawn replied, giving him a hug, “But L.A.’s not that far away from Sunnydale.”

Connor nodded.

“Dawn! Come on! We have to go,” Buffy yelled.

The couple pulled apart and Dawn gave Connor a quick kiss and ran over to her sister.

Giles, Buffy, and Dawn stood in front of the port key, which this time was shaped like a shoe.

“On the count of 3?” Dawn asked.

“One,” Buffy said.

“Two,” Dawn said.

Silence, “Giles, you’re suppose to say 3,” Buffy informed him.

“Oh, 3,” he said as they all touched the port key and were transported back to Sunnydale.
