Good Person: 1

by Spikes Queen

Spike stood up as the gang came in the door.

Buffy watched with a helpless expression as the gang bombarded her with questions.

“Stop!” Buffy screamed. She stood up and went out the door. “Spike?”

Spike picked his head up and turned around. “What are you doing out here?”

“I don’t want to be around them,” she said, going over to him. She ran her thumbs under his eyes. “Why are you crying?”

“’Cause you’re here and I cant believe it,” Spike whispered.

Buffy smiled a little. “Come on, lets go for a walk,” she said, sliding her hands in to his.

They began walking and ended up at Spike’s crypt.

“You wanna come in?” Spike asked.

Buffy nodded. “I’m not ready to go home.”

Spike opened the door and let Buffy in. She looked around the place and Spike lit candles. She sat on the couch and Spike cocked his head at her. “You want me to fix your hands?” He asked.

“They are starting to hurt,” Buffy said, softly.

Spike got a first aid kit and knelt in front of her. Gently he began swabbing her knuckles, making her flinch at the sting. “Sorry,” Spike said.

“It’s okay,” Buffy said, as he placed a bandage over her knuckles.

Spike finished and put the first aid kit away. He went over and sat next to her. “You okay?”

“Why’d you leave before?” Buffy asked.

“’Cause I knew your friends were gunna pounce on you,” Spike said, leaning against the couch.

Buffy leaned against him. “I hate them and I didn’t wanna be with them.”

Spike looked down at her and tentatively put his arm around her. “Why?”

“’Cause I was happy. They aren’t strong enough to live with out me so they brought me back. I would’ve never done that to them.”

“They didn’t know,” Spike said.

“Spike, they thought I was in hell. Why would the think that? I’m not a bad person.”

“No you’re not. I cant fix what they did, Pet, but I can help your through this if you want me to,”
Spike said.

“You’re the only one I trust right now,” Buffy said, and picked her head up. “Can you tell me what happened while I was gone?”

Spike sighed. “Um.. I’m Dawn’s legal guardian,” he said, softly.

Buffy raised an eyebrow. “You are?”

Spike got up from the couch. “Yeah. They were gunna take her away from me if she didn’t have a substantial guardian. Giles took care of it but it’s an easy fix so we can sign all custody over to you,” he said.

“We don’t have to do that,” Buffy said. “Do you live with her?”

“Not really. I’m just there to make sure Dawn’s okay,” he said, going back over to her.

“Can I stay with you tonight?” Buffy asked, abruptly.

“Yeah,” Spike said, surprised. “There’s a bed downstairs.

Buffy stood up and Spike led her downstairs. She collapsed on his bed and tried to pull him down next to her. “Don’t go back up,” she said.

Spike toed off his boots and took off his duster. He slid next to her and was kinda surprised when she snuggled right up against him.

“Will Dawn be okay?” Buffy asked.

“If I’m right…” Spike said, as the crypt door opened.

“Spike?” Came Dawn’s voice.

“Downstairs,” Spike called.

Dawn climbed down the ladder and took off her coat and shoes before climbing in with them. “I didn’t wanna be with out you guys,” she said.

“It’s okay,” Buffy said. “I don’t think Spike will mind if his two favorite girls stay with him.”

Spike smiled at them. “Go to sleep ladies,” he said, settling down with them.

Soon all three of them were sound asleep.
