Surprised: 1
by Spikes Queen
Buffy walked down the stairs as Spike told Dawn to go get bandages. Her knees buckled and she fell forward.
Spike arms shot out and he caught her. “You okay?” He asked, softly.
Buffy rested her hands on his shoulders. “I’m a little woozy but I’m okay,” she said.
Spike looked into her eyes. “Are you sure?” He asked.
Buffy ducked her gaze. “I don’t know,” she said.
Spike guided her to the couch as Dawn came in. “Here,” she said, handing the stuff to Spike.
The back door slammed open and Buffy jumped. She curled into a little ball on the couch, her eyes wide with fear.
The gang came into the living room. “Buffy!”
Spike heart was breaking at how scared Buffy was.
“Back off,” Dawn said, seeing Buffy’s frightened look.
Spike rested his hand on Buffy’s knee. “Buffy?”
Buffy raised her head from her trembling hands. “Spike?”
“Are you okay?” Spike asked.
“Can you… take me upstairs?” She whispered.
Spike nodded and stood up. He held out his hand and Buffy slid hers into his. Gently he pulled
her up.
Buffy allowed Spike to guide her to the stairs. “I don’t think I can do those again,” she whispered, looking at Spike.
Spike scooped her up and took her upstairs.
Gently he laid her in her bed and stood up. “I’ll be right back. Are you gunna be okay?”
Buffy nodded. “Yeah. I’m gunna change
while you’re gone,” she said.
Spike left the room and went downstairs.
Buffy got up and changed her clothes.
Spike came back up and knocked on her door. “Buffy?”
“Come in,” she said.
Spike opened the door and Buffy was sitting on her bed. He knelt in front of her and put the stuff on the ground. Carefully, he cleaned her wounds.
Buffy looked into his eyes. “Spike?”
Spike looked up at her. “Yeah?”
“What happened to me?” She asked, softly.
“I don’t know,” Spike said. “I’ll figure it out though. Don’t worry.”
Buffy smiled and slowly she began to relax as he bandaged her hands.
Spike stood up and cleaned up the stuff. “Do you need anything?”
“Are you gunna stay here?” Buffy asked.
“Do you need me too?” Spike asked.
“It would make me feel better,” Buffy said, softly.
“Just give me a minute,” Spike said, leaving the room. He went downstairs and smiled at Dawn yelling at the gang.
“Nibblet?” He asked.
Dawn looked at him. “I’m going to bed in a minute,” she said.
“Goodnight Dawn,” Spike said, going back upstairs.
“Night Spike,” Dawn said, turning to the gang. “Why didn’t you tell me or Spike? She’s my sister and Spike loves her.”
“We didn’t think it was gunna work,” Xander said.
“Why would you wanna do something like this? We don know where she was or what happened to her,” Dawn said.
“She was in hell,” Willow said.
“How do you know that?” Dawn flared. “She was a good person. There’s no way she was in hell.”
Dawn turned and went upstairs. She knocked on Buffy’s door. “Buffy?”
“Yeah?”
Dawn opened the door and she smiled at Buffy at Buffy snuggled into her bed covers with Spike next to her.
“You okay?” Dawn asked.
Buffy smiled a little. “Yeah, I’m fine.”
“Buffy,” Dawn said, going to sit next to her. “Were you in hell?”
Buffy looked at Spike who looked back and for the between them. She pushed herself up into a sitting position. “No, I wasn’t.”
Spike looked at her. “Where were you then?”
Buffy climbed out of the bed and went over to the window. “I was happy,” she whispered.
Dawn looked at Spike and he went over and put his hands on her shoulders. “Pet?”
There were tears sliding down her face when she turned to raise her eyes to his.
Dawn got out of bed and went to the door. “I’ll see you guys in the morning,” she said, leaving.
Buffy leaned up against Spike and sobbed.
Spike held her tightly. “It’s okay, Pet,” he said, stroking her hair.
Buffy trembled and her knees gave out. Spike slumped to the floor with her and rocked her back and forth as she cried.
Buffy picked her head up from his chest. “Spike, why would anyone want to do this to
me?”
Spike kept her in his arms. “I don’t know Buffy. I didn’t know anything about it ‘til I saw you come down the stairs. I saw you and I thought my heart would beat,” he said, softly.
“Spike, you’ve been taking care of Dawn?” She asked.
“Yes, I have. I’ll still take care of her if you want. I love her and I don’t wanna leave her,” he said.
Buffy smiled at him. “You can still take care of her if you take care of me too,” Buffy said. “I feel safe with you and I think it’ll be awhile before I’m back on my feet.”
Spike smiled and stood up. He scooped her up and laid her in bed. “I’ll take care of you for as long as you need me to,” he said, pulling the covers up over her. He kissed her forehead. “Goodnight, Luv,” he said.
Buffy wrapped her arms around his neck. “Stay with me,” she whispered.
“You sure?” Spike asked.
Buffy nodded. “Yeah.”
Spike freed himself from Buffy’s grasp to take off his boots and duster. He slid in beside her and held her close to him.
“Goodnight, Spike,” she said, sleepily.
“Goodnight, Buffy,” Spike said, closing his eyes. “I’m glad you’re home.”
Buffy smiled and fell asleep with him.
