At night he sees her
She loves him in his dreams
He can feel the warmth of her smile
And the love that it gleams

She is his salvation
The he doesn't know he craves
She gives him a purpose
A path her love paves

He wants to be a better man
He repents for his slights and sins
To be worthy of her love
The path of redemption he begins

Its a hard road
The one that's less taken
Yet its his only choice
Lest he be foresaken

Battered and bruised
The weariness in his heart
Threatens to take his soul
And tear it apart

But her face is his hope
Its what keeps him alive
When the darkness overwhelms
He thinks of her to survive

The day when he's worthy
He'll show up at her door
And whisper that he loves her
As she replies, "I loved you even before."
