The confession: The confession

by lieselot

The confession.

She sat down in a small square looking room.
The walls were dark black and had cracks in them.

She looked nervous, scared perhaps.
She was looking around a lot.
She waited in that room for hours and hours till he came in.

A tall man with dark blond hair sat down in front of her.
He had a gun, but she wasn't scared.

He took a rapport out of his bag an laid it on the table.

"Miss. Willow Rosenberg, is it ? (the woman nodded) I'm inspector Oran. You probably already know why you are here. (she nodded again.) You're here for the sudden vanishing of Warren Meers."

"And, what, you think I have anything to do with it ?" Willow asked.

"Look, euh, miss. Rosenberg, I'm not gonna lie to you. Yes, we think you have something to do with it. He shot your girlfriend, eum, Tara Maclay, the woman you say was the love of your love..." he got interrupted.

"She WAS and will ALWAYS be the love of my life." Willow said a bit disturbed.

"Yes, well, after he killed her and shot your, eum, best friend, was it ? (she nodded) Buffy Anne Summers, he disappeared and miss Summers miraculously recovered, by which I mean her wound was suddenly gone like she was never shot. And then there was the incident at the jail where a woman with black hair and lots of veins on her face suddenly appeared, and made bricks come out of the building and then she flew to a jail of two friends of mister Meers, those friends, also disappeared. And you are saying you are not that woman ?"

Willow stood up.
"I have red hair." she touched it.
"And I have no veins in my face, you have the wrong girl. You have absolutely no reason to hold me hear, or do you have something that could put me away ?" she was getting madder and more nervous by the minute.

"You are right, I have no reason, but you do fit the profile of that woman, but tell me one thing."

"What ?"

"Did you kill Warren Meers and dump him somewhere ?"

She had to be careful, hearing his name just made her blood boil, she felt like she wanted to kill Warren all over again, and that was not a good thing.

"I did nothing wrong." she quietly said, hoping she looked credible.

After that, he let her go home, several weeks later, he stopped investigating Willow and the disappearing of Warren Meers. They just listed him as a fugitive.

There was one thing inspector Oran had to know before going back to his home.
One evening, very late, he waited for Willow at Buffy's house.

"What are you doing here ? I thought they dropped the investigation." she asked suprised.

"Yes, I dropped it, I just need to know, how did you do it, how did you save your friend, how did you kill HIM ? Of the record. I need to know."

Willow hesitated for a few minutes but then sat down next to him and tolled him that if he'd tell this to anyone, she'd just deny it.

"Magic. I'm a witch, a very powerful one, I saved Buffy, because I could, I was an addict back then, I was full of rage, I'd just lost the love of my life, and all the days I had stopped practicing magic didn't matter anymore, I was filled with power when she got shot. I killed Warren, I did, with magic, I made him hurt. I'll forever live with the feeling that I have blood on my hands, and it will never go away. That is my punishment. He killed the only person on this world I ever loved, I can never get that back. Killing him didn't make me feel better, it made me feel worse."

The inspector was stunned, he knew she killed him, but magic, that he didn't know.

"Waw, I knew you did it, but magic, that's knew for me. All tough it does explain a lot. Anyway, here."
He got a tape out of his jacket and now Willow was stunned.

"I taped this conversation, I always get the criminals, I thought you were one too. I was wrong, you don't deserve to be locked away. You just don't."

Willow thanked him, she had expected he'd do something like tape the conversation, but she wanted it in the back of her mind. But now she was glad she wouldn't go to jail after all.

"Hey, who would have believed it anyway." he smiled and walked away.

Buffy came outside and saw the inspector walk away.
"What did he want ?"

Willow didn't say anything, she just stared in front of her.

"Will. Are you okay ?" Buffy asked a little worried.

Willow turned to Buffy and smiled.
"I think I just found the beginning of my heeling process."

Buffy didn't really get it, but she was happy that Willow was finally a little happy too.
Together they walked into the house.

THE END.
