Episode 1: Star Crossed Lovers

SUNNYDALE, CALIFORNIA - DAY
“I mean it! I gotta do this!” Spike yells as he holds out his hand to stop Buffy from coming any closer. They are both standing in the hellmouth and the walls are crumbling around them.
Buffy laces her fingers through his as tears some to her eyes, “I love you and that’s why I can’t let you do this,” she says, tearing the necklace off his neck and throwing it into the deep recesses of the hellmouth.
She holds on to his hand and pulls him out of the hellmouth. They run through the school but since the door is blocked they run upstairs and onto the roof. They both run forward and jump on to the top of the bus. Spike is on fire and Buffy tires to cover him as best she can.
When the bus stops, she jumps off and throws him into the back of it where it is dark and he is out of the sunlight. Dawn runs over to Buffy and hugs her, tightly.
Buffy smiles, he’s worse for wear but he’s alive.

ROME, ITALY – NIGHT
Buffy wakes up from her dream. She lies in her bed and quietly begins to sob.
“Buffy,” Dawn whispers as she puts her hand on her sister’s back, “You okay?”
She turns around and looks at Dawn, her eyes full of tears. She begins to wipe them.
“Do you have the dream again?” Dawn asked.
Buffy nods as she sits up and brings her knees up to her chest, “Every night I save him and every night I wake up and remember it’s not real. He’s gone Dawnie, he’s really gone.”
“I know. I miss him too. You should get some sleep. We have Scooby meeting tomorrow,” Dawn said as she got up from the bed and left the room, closing the door quietly behind her.

SOMWHERE IN ROME, ITALY - NIGHT
A man is driving a car down the road, when he sees a young woman standing by the side of the road. He pulls his car over and opens the window. The sounds of a nearby beach can be heard, “Do you need a ride?”
“Yes,” she replies as she gets in the car.
“Where do you need to go?” he asks as he pulls back on to the road.
“The beach, I meeting someone there.”
“Okay.”

The man pulls his car into a parking spot near a cliff close to the beach, “There’s no one here,” he says turning to her but she’s gone. He looks around but can’t find. He rubs his eyes and pulls out of the parking spot and back on to the road.
As he is driving he glances into his rear view mirror and finds the girl sitting there. He screams and begins to lose control of the car as she jumps into the front seat to attack him.
The car crashes into a tree and blood splatters onto the inside of the back window.

MAIN TITLES

BUFFY & DAWN’S LIVING ROOM – ROME, ITALY – DAY
Dawn, Xander, and Andrew sit on the couch. Giles sits in a nearby arm chair. Buffy is standing in the open space between the couch and the loveseat, where Willow, Kennedy, and Wood are sitting. A large window is behind Buffy and Faith is sitting on the arm of the love seat, close to Wood.
“This is the first Scooby meeting we’ve had, where everyone’s been here in months,” Willow says.
“Yes, well, everyone’s been busy locating the new slayers and informing them of their duties,” Giles says as he sips a cup of tea.
“So what are we going to do with the SITs?” Xander asks.
“SITs?” Dawn says.
“Andrew made it up,” Xander clarifies.
“Slayer’s in training,” Andrew says, “Doesn’t it sound all James Bond Double O7?”
“Yeah,” Dawn says, not very convincingly.
“What are we going to do with the newbies, B?” Faith asks.
“Giles and I talked it over and we think it would be good if we set up a school to train them all and we could be the teachers,” Buffy says.
“Cool, so where’s command central going to be located?” Xander asks.
“Cleveland, Ohio,” Giles informs.
“Cleveland?” Kennedy says, “What’s in Cleveland?”
“Another hellmouth,” Giles replies.
“There’s another one?” Kennedy says.
“I’m afraid so,” Giles says.
“Anyway we figured what better place to train a slayer…” Buffy begins.
“Then the hellmouth,” Wood breaks in.
“Exactly. Xander, you and Andrew are going to go to Cleveland and check out the spot Andrew got us to build the school,” Buffy says, “Also it’ll be good to have someone there to make sure all the construction is going okay.”
“Sure send the handicapped guy and the dweeb to do the safe stuff,” Xander says.
“You’re going to the hellmouth and you’re going to be with Andrew that raises your danger level to…well a lot,” Dawn says.
“Hey, right here,” Andrew yells in protest.
“Question,” Willow says, “I’m total on board with the whole school thing but where are we going to get the money for all this?”
“The watcher’s council had a sufficient amount of funds left over,” Giles tells her.
“And Angel donated some money from Wolfram and Hart,” Buffy says, “Giles; you’re going to England to find those watchers you heard survived right?”
“Yes, my plane leaves in a few days actually.”
“Sounds like a plan,” Faith says, “So if we’re done I’m gonna go. I’m starving and I wanna grab some lunch.”
“Wait, no one leaves until you hear about what I saw last night,” Andrew says as everyone begins to groan. Willow begins to read the newspaper she picked up off the coffee table earlier, “I saw a UFO.”
“That’s great Andrew,” Kennedy says, getting up. Everyone else begins to leave as well.
“No, it’s true, it had flashing lights and everything,” Andrew says.
“Planes have flashing lights,” Buffy says.
“Oo, so do blimps,” Dawn offers.
“It was UFO!”
“Hey, sorry to interrupt but look at this,” Willow says, placing the newspaper on the coffee table. Everyone just stare at it because it is in Italian.
“Okay, I don’t do Italian, unless I’m eating it so can someone clarify?” Xander asks.
“A man was found murdered in his car,” Giles says as he picks up the paper and read it more closely, “Its sounds quite gruesome, actually.”
“Vampires?” Buffy asks.
“No, I don’t believe so but maybe you should go to the crime scene and look around,” Giles says, “It’s by the beach.”
“Okay, Xander and I will go,” Buffy says as she grabs her coat and puts it on.
“We will?” Xander says.
“You said you wanted more dangerous missions,” Buffy replies.
“I never said that,” he says as he puts on his coat and Buffy raises her eyebrows in response, “Well, that’s not what I meant.”
She smiles and they both leave.

THE CRIME SCENE – DAY
Buffy and Xander pull up in Xander’s car, get out, and stand behind the crime scene tape. They watch as the local police do their job and the people from the morgue come to collect the body, there’s not much left of it.
“I don’t think we’re going to get anywhere with all these cops around,” Buffy says.
“She’s back!” an old man yells at Buffy in an English accent as he grabs her shoulders, “You need to stop this!”
“Who’s back?” Buffy yells after him as the police begin to take him away.
“The woman in white!” the man yells.
“Ciao, lei parla degli inglesi? Buffy asked a nearby cop.
“Si, how can I help you?” he asks with a heavy Italian accent.
“Do you know who that guy is?”
“Don’t listen to him, he’s matto.”
“Matto?” Xander asks.
“Crazy? He’s always talking about demons and vampires.”
“What’s his name?”
“Alden Bedford, I think. No one pays much mind to him. He’s the idiota di villaggio,” the cops says but Buffy and Xander look at him perplexed, “The village idiot,” the cop says and with that he walks away, “Americans.”

BUFFY’S APARTMENT – DUSK
“Bye Dawnie I’ll see you later,” Xander says as he left the apartment.
“Bye,” Dawn tells him.
“I found some references to a woman in white,” Giles says, “It’s a type of ghost. Usually a woman, who is searching for her lost love.”
“Let me guess she wears white?” Dawn asks.
“Actually, it says she can wear whatever she chooses. Many tend to wear their wedding dresses but there are records of others who wore all different colors.”
“Hey, I got some hits,” Willow says as she looks at her computer screen. Buffy, Giles, Dawn, and Kennedy come over.
“What did you find?” Buffy asks.
“There’s an old local legend about a ghost who stops wayward travels, men always. They always end up dead. She’s the ghost of a woman, who lived in the 1800s. The legend goes that her lover was a sailor and one day he went out to sea and never came back. She waited for him everyday on a cliff that overlooks the beach but he never came. They believe his ship was lost at sea.”
“And apparently she’s still waiting,” Buffy says.
“Apparently,” Giles replies.
“So how do I kill her?”
“I’m not sure, let me consult my books.”
“That’s so sad and romantic,” Dawn says.
“Romantic? She’s killing people,” Kennedy says.
“Yeah, that’s bad but she’s waited over a hundred years just to be reunited with her one true love,” Dawn says.
“That’s it,” Willow says.
“What?” Buffy asks.
“If we reunite her with her one true love her spirit should go to rest.”
“The guys been dead over hundred years how are we supposed to do that?” Kennedy says.
“A séance,” Willow says.
“That might work,” Giles replies.
“Guys, where’s Xander?” Buffy asks, looking around and just noticing his absence.
“He left,” Dawn says, “Oh, god, he left! He could be in trouble!”
“What are the chances she’s going to stop Xander?” Kennedy asks
“He does tend to attract demons,” Giles says.
“Xander’s gonna die! We have to save him!” Willow says.
“Don’t worry, we will,” Buffy says, “Go get all the stuff you need for the séance and guys hurry.”

SOMEWHERE NEAR THE BEACH – NIGHT
Xander drives along the road when he seems a woman, “Well she’s not wearing white,” he says as he pulls over and allows her into the car.
“Can you take me to the cliffs by the beach?” she asks.
“Sure thing, why do you want to go there?”
“I’m meeting someone.”

THE CLIFFS NEAR THE BEACH - NIGHT
Willow, Giles, Dawn, Buffy, and Kennedy are on the cliffs near the beach. Dawn and Giles are placing candles for the séance while Willow prepares for the spell. Buffy and Kennedy are standing by the road waiting for a car to some their way.
They see head lights and start running back to the others.
“Someone’s coming,” Kennedy yells.
“It looks like Xander’s car,” Buffy informs them.
“Okay, everyone hold hands,” Willow instructs them. They all hold hands and stand in a circle, inside the circle of candles as a car pulls into a parking space.

“Hey, you wouldn’t happen to wear the color white a lot but your not tonight because your white outfit’s at the dry cleaners? Right?” Xander asks the woman, nervously as they got out of the car. That’s when he notices the others standing in a circle.
“Xander, come on!” Dawn yells, “It’s her, she’s the lady in white!”
“But she’s not wearing white!” Xander yells back. He looks over to her and he can see her hunger for blood in her eyes. She no longer looks sweet and innocent. She lunges for him and suceeds in grabbing him by the throat. She begins to strangle him.
Buffy rushes over and pulls the ghost off him, spinning her around and punching her hard in the face.
"I thought ghosts weren't corporal," Dawn says as they stand and watch the fight between Buffy and the ghost.
"Yes, well some ghosts can be it, really all depends," Giles tells her.
They seem oddly calm for the situation but then again this is the stuff they had dealt with every day for the past 7 years.
They watch as Buffy is thrown on to the ground and the woman jumps on top of her, trying to dig her nails into Buffy's flesh. Buffy brings her feet up and kicks off the woman's stomach, pushing her off her and freeing herslef from the ghost's deathly grasp.
The ghost lets out a shriek of anger as Buffy kicks her with a roundhouse kick sending her flying into a nearby tree. Xander watches in shock.
"Xander come on," Buffy tells him, grabbing his and dragging him twoards the circle.
They fit into the circle just as the ghosst gets up and moves foward for another attack.
"Willow now," Buffy commands.
“I call upon the true love of this lost soul,” Willow speaks, “I employ thee. Return to your lover and be reunited once again so this weary soul can be laid to rest.”
"You're going to chant her to death," Xander says as Willow speaks the spell.
"Shh," Dawn admonishes, "Repeat after her."
“I call upon the true love of this lost soul,” everyone was speaking now with intensity, “I employ thee. Return to your lover and be reunited once again so this weary soul can be laid to rest.”
“It’s working,” Willow says. They all turn around and watch the woman wakes to the edge of the cliff where a ghost ship comes to meet her. A man runs off the ship and the 2 ghost embrace and fade into the night.
“You did it,” Kennedy says to Willow as she hugs her girlfriend.
“What were you thinking?” Giles asks Xander as they all head back to the car.
“She wasn’t wearing white!”
“They don’t always.”
“I’m sorry, I didn’t get the memo!” Xander yells, exasperated.
“What is it with you and demon women?” Buffy jokes.

XANDER’S CAR ON THE ROAD – NIGHT
Buffy sits in the passenger’s seat while Xander drives her home. Dawn is sleeping in the back. Buffy stares out the window.
“I miss her,” Xander whispers. Buffy looks at him, “Anya, I miss her everyday. I think about her everyday. You miss him. I can tell.”
“I do,” Buffy sighs, “What are we going to do?”
“Well, personally after tonight I’m going to move on. I’m not going to end up some ghost, waiting forever for her to come back because lets face it she’s not coming back.”
“And neither is he.”

GILES’S HOTEL ROOM - NIGHT
“Hey, are you lonely?
Has summer gone so slowly?”
Giles is in his hotel room, packing.

A PARK - NIGHT
“We found the ground,
but that damage was done.”
Andrew is staring up at the stars, looking for UFOs.

THE CLIFFS BY THE BEACH – DAWN
“It's cold as you fade into the sun.”
Xander stands on the cliffs where they had all be only a few hours earlier. He places a bouquet of flowers down by the edge and stares off at the ocean.

AIRPORT - DAWN
“Where'd you go? To me?
But you're alive!”
Willow sits in the airport. Kennedy wakes over to her and hands her a cup of coffee. The couple sits together, smiling and holding hands.

DAWN’S ROOM - DAWN
“Well, it's only
fallen frames, they told me.”
Dawn is sitting on her bed, flipping through a photo album. It contains pictures of her mother, Tara, Anya, Spike, and other people she has lost. A few tears run down her face.
***********************
WOOD & FAITH’S HOTEL ROOM - DAWN
“You stand out, it's so loud...
and so what if it is.”
Wood and Faith are in their hotel room. They hold each other in the bed and look into each others’ eyes and then they begin to kiss.

BUFFY & DAWN’S BALCONY - DAWN
“It's cold when you fade into the wind.
Where'd it go to?”
Buffy sits on the railing of the balcony and watches the sun rise.
