Another Life: Just like Dad

by Fighter78

When Spike woke up he found that Buffy was no longer beside him, but Angel was. He was sitting in chair in the corner of the room. Spike also realized he had a wet clothe on his forehead which he figured Buffy had put there.

"Hey, Angel. You know you don't have to look so bloody solemn. I'm not dead, sick, but definitely not dead." Spike said sitting up and giving Angel one of his cocky grins.

"Sorry. I guess I was just worried with the fact that you had such a high fever. What the heck was that all about?" Angel asked coming over to the bed.

"Who knows? Maybe it was some va…" Spike suddenly stopped when he realized that he would just be considered crazy if he talked about being a vampire and all the stuff similar to that.

"Will, what's wrong?" Angel asked suddenly concerned.

"Oh, me I'm fine. I was just thinking. Nothing serious." Spike said smiling to convince Angel.

"That had to hurt. Don't think thinking is your thing, I mean, you could hurt yourself." Angel said smiling.

"Oh, thanks. You're going down, right now." Spike said getting out of the bed and tackling Angel, but ended up being tickled himself.

"Feeling better I see." Buffy said from the doorway. Of course the sound of Buffy's voice made them stop, not only because it was Buffy, but also because they had been caught.

"I guess I am, well a little, still tired but that's about it." Spike said getting off the floor and back into the bed, while Angel got off the floor as well and got back into the chair.

"Well, you still feel warm, but your fever has definitely gone down. Do you want something to eat?" Buffy asked after she felt Spike.

"No, all I want is to get out of this bed. I hate just lying around, doing absolutely nothing." Spike said sitting up.

"I guess you could come down stairs. Connor was wondering where you were, but Jimmy filled him in. Those guys play some good music together." Buffy said thinking about her eldest son and nephew.

"You're right about that. Always knew they'd follow in their fathers' footsteps." Angel said grinning.
"Good times, huh, Will?" Angel asked looking at Spike and grinning.

"Yeah, they were, mate." Spike said not knowing what else to say,

"Gosh, I can't believe you still have it after all these years. You were there a bit longer though. I thought that if I went to Ireland, Grandma Walsh's home country I'd be cool and all, but you, you go to England and come back with the accent and all their sayings. Dad was so proud the day you came home with that accent. Suppose it is because you stayed a bit longer than a week, three years can we say?" Angel said smiling.

"Sorry, to interrupt your reminising but when are Fred and Wesley getting here?" Buffy asked suddenly.

"I haven't spoken to them since I left LA. I know they should be coming, but I'm not sure when." Angel said and then suddenly Jimmy came storming into the room.

"Mom, Susan and Peter won't let us practice. We don't get together to often so we need all the practice we can get." Jimmy said angrily as he came to sit at the end of the bed.

"We just wanted to see how they played. You know I love it when Willy Wonka plays his guitar." Susan said teasing her brother a bit.

"I told you not to call me Willy Wonka. Mom, tell her and Peter to leave Conner and I alone." Jimmy said angrily and he looked like he was about to kill his sister.

"Susan, apologize to your brother and make sure you and your brother stay out of their way when they're practicing." Buffy said looking lovingly at Susan.

"I'm sorry, Jimmy. It'll never happen again." Susan said and he could tell she was close to tears by the way she bit her bottom lip.

"Susie, don't cry, please. I'm sorry I got all mad, it's just Connor and I really need to spend time together and we need to practice. Please stop crying, I can't stand it when you do." Jimmy said giving his little sister a hug.

"I love you, Jimmy." Susan said before running out of the room to play.

"Jimmy, come here a sec." Buffy said.

"Yeah, Mom. What's up?" Jimmy said walking over to Buffy, Spike, and Angel. He ended up having his mom's arms around him in a hug.

"What was that for?" Jimmy asked tilting his head.

"For being so much like your father." Buffy said smiling.

"Me, like, Dad? You sure, I mean he's old. I can handle Uncle Liam but Dad, I don't know." Jimmy said grinning at Spike who in turn grinned back.

"Old you say. Me thinks you are going to be getting just a bunch of coal in your stocking." Spike said smiling.

"Comin', Jimmy?" a tall boy with medium lengthed brown hair said as he stood in the doorway. The kid reminded Spike of Angel. The more Spike though about how the boy reminded him of Angel he realized it was Connor.

"Yeah, see ya later, Connor and I are going to go look at some CDs down at the mall." Jimmy said as he left the room with Connor.

"That boy is going to be the death of us, Will. He honestly will. I know he denies it at times and I know you do too, but you two are so much alike." Buffy said looking lovingly at Spike. Spike was about to reply when Angel's cell phone rang. He answered it, looked apologetically at Spike and Buffy, and went out into the hallway to talk. He came back about five or ten minutes later with a huge smile on his face.

"Good news. Wesley and Fred are on the way here. They should be here by tomorrow. They also have a surprise for everybody, but I was sworn to secrecy I think two minutes ago or something like that." Angel said as he continued to smile. Spike knew he shouldn't think about his other life(even though it changed less than 36 hours ago), but every time somebody did something out the ordinary for him it took him awhile to get used to it, just like it was with Angel smiling about 90% of the time. He was used to Angel always looking like he had the weight of the world on his shoulders. He never thought about it much because he was usually fighting with Angel.
