Disturbed Dimensions: Part 2

by Jessi

"-And no love was as profound as that of Juliet and her Romeo. " Mr. Frost closed his book and looked to his spell-bound senior literature class. "Does anyone know what Shakespeare was talking about in 'Romeo and Juliet'?" The class still stared towards him, letting the words of William Shakespeare's masterpiece seep in.

"Alright. Shakespeare was saying that love, no matter how impossible it may seem, is possible. Can anyone give me any examples of star-crossed lovers, like Romeo and Juliet?" A tall brunette in the back raised her hand. "Ms. Chase?"

"Those two from 'Titanic'? I mean, it was exactly the same. They tried to keep it secret, but that bad guy found out. In 'Romeo and Juliet', Juliet faked her death so she didn't have to get married to that weird guy, like Rose. But Romeo found her and killed himself. Then Juliet killed herself when she woke up. . . That really doesn't.compile with 'Titanic', but it's the same type of romance!"

"Excellent.comparison Cordelia! Any other examples?"

'How about me and Angel?' A short blonde also in the back thought.

"Buffy, this is kinda like you and Angel, " whispered the red-headed girl beside her.

'Is she a psychic or something?' Buffy questioned in her mind.

"I mean, besides the. . . poison and the death and everything. " Willow added.

"There goes the bell, so you'd all better get to your next classes. I'll see you all on Friday, and don't forget about the test on seventeenth and eighteenth century literature!" But everyone had vacated the room well before his announcement, so no one heard.

"Don't we have a test next week?" Willow asked as she and Buffy walked down the hall.

"Guess he forgot. " They both shrugged and walked on. "Where's Xander?"

"He's at home. For the first time, he got sick from sleeping outside on Christmas. Poor baby, his room has a carpet of used Kleenex an inch thick!" They giggled and separated, each headed off to different classes at either end of Sunnydale High.

That evening, a cold frost had settled on the town, telling the people who lived there that the front that had dumped an inch of snow on Christmas Day was dissipating. Some patches of snow were still on the ground, but not much. Two lights lit up the cemetery by an old mansion, but they disappeared as quickly as they had appeared.

"Buffy?" Willow called, looking for her friend.

"Hey Will. Whatchya doin' out here?"

"I came to keep you.company! Any action?"

"Nope. Not even Angel. It's dead, literally. " Willow smiled at the joke and the two walked around between the headstones, occasionally stopping to read one or two. Suddenly, Buffy started looking around slowly, as if sensing something.

"What's wrong?" A scream rang through the air, answering the redheads question. They ran quickly to it's origin, and in no time, found the owner. On the ground by the back of the mansion was a young woman, terrified of the young vampire on top of her.

"Hey, Ugly! Who taught you manners?" Buffy yelled to them. The demon looked up and smirked at her and Willow. Faster than the slayer expected, the newbie jumped off the girl and was on top of her.

"Sorry for dumping you, Buff, " it snarled in a similar tone that Angelus had used. "But you just weren't my type. " The vampire lunged at her neck and. . . was dust before he could bare his fangs. Looking down at her was a young man welding a wooden stake. Or, he was a young man till his features went from human to vampire and he ran off to assist Willow. Soon another scream came from Buffy's side, telling her that another blood sucker had been killed and that Willow was safe. The redhead, along with the man who'd staked the other vamp, walked over to her and hoisted the shocked slayer up.

"What was that about me not being out?" The man chuckled, his face changing back to its human vintage. "What's wrong?"

"T-that was. . . Scott. " Willow gasped. "Oh God, Angel, did that freak me out. . . "

"It's okay. " Angel replied, hugging her. "He's. . . dead now. " "How could Scott be a vampire and still go to school? I saw him yesterday in study hall. . . and tonight when I came out of Xander's!" Willow said. Buffy looked at her and pulled away from Angel, remembering Scott's former attackee.

The girl was cowering up against a bush now, her emerald eyes filled with fear and her red hair bringing attention to her frost-white face. Angel looked at her and stepped forward.

"Are you alright miss?" The girl recoiled in fear and nodded her head vigoriously. "Y-y-yes sir. "

"Why don't you go with Angel?" Buffy asked. "It's warm in the mansion, and you look cold. "

The girl stood in silence for a few seconds before replying, "I-I have to wait for s-s-someone, " she stuttered uneasily.

"Well. . . Buffy and I can go looking for whoever may be looking for you. win a cemetery, and Angel can get you warmed up. Okay?" Willow asked in her perky, happy voice. The girl pondered this and nodded. Angel took her hand and lead her away towards the welcoming warmth and brightness of the house while Buffy and Willow stayed behind.

"Wow, she's wigged out. " There was a rustling in the bushes surrounding them. "Not more!" Buffy sighed, grabbing two stakes, handing one to Willow, and going into slayer mode. Her senses told her someone was there, but it wasn't demonic. . .
