Here we go again: Part Six
by Pandora
In the last hree hours Buffy and Angel had made dust of twenty or so vamps. “Looks like Spike hasn’t learned any new tricks.” the vamp she was fighting threw a nasty left. It was what she had been waiting for. She fell back to the ground, letting her head hit the street-hard. Angel dusted the vamp and ran to her side. They were outside the park. It was the perfect spot for it to go down.
“Plan should work.” He whispered, helping her up.
“Do you think he’s watching?”
“I’d put money on it.”
“Now is as good a time as ever.”
“Let’s do it.” Buffy and Angel started to walk away but she suddenly slipped and slumped against Angel.
“Buffy!” He held her up, holding close her against him. She opened one eye and winked at him. He smiled and carried her to a bench.
“ I’ve got to call Giles.” He said loudly. “Will you be all right here?”
“ Uh-huh.” She said letting her head fall back against the back of the bench. “I’m just tired.”
Angel disappeared around the corner, presumably in search of a phone. Instead he slipped into the shadows and lurked close to the “wounded” slayer.
Buffy was fine. In fact she had never felt better. She lay on the bench with her eyes closed and waited for her “spidey-sense” to go off. Sure enough, after a few minutes she felt the familiar stab in her side and she opened her eyes to see Spike approaching with four vamps.
She sat up quickly. She pulled four stakes out of her bag and slid them into her sleeve where she could reach them easier. “ Don’t you remember what happened the last time you messed with me?” She asked one of the vampires. He bore a burn on his face. “ I used to hate to take baths when I was a kid and my mom always told me that water wouldn’t hurt me. So not true in your case.”
‘Enough of this, Slayer. How ya feeling? A little tired? Does that hurt?” he said indicating the head wound.
“I’m a little dizzy you know. Maybe we could do this later?” Their response was to attack. “Didn’t think so.” Buffy said kicking one vamp in the face and simultaneously staking another. She thought as one of the vamps threw her over his head and into a tree. When the same vamp was stupid enough to try and snap her neck while she was trying to clear her head, she pulled one of her stakes out and slammed it into his chest. “Nice try.” She said as his body crumbled to dust.
“Two down. Three to go.” She said to herself. Suddenly Angel burst into the fight. “Nice of you to join us.” She sadi sarcastically.
“He sent a couple vamps after me.” He explained, throwing a female vamp to the ground and dusting her.
“Dust?” she inquired
“Dust.” he affirmed. Watching Buffy make quick work of the last vamp before they both moved on to Spike.
“Angelus. You dog. I should have known you’d let the slayer in on that little game we played with Marianne all those years ago.”
“ You should have gotten new material, Spikey.” Buffy said moving towards him.
“ What can I say? A broken heart clouded my thinking, No matter, I think I’’ forget all about having a plan and just do this the old fashioned way. Violence.” He punched Buffy so hard she was knocked onto her back. Angel responded with a punch which Spike easily deflected.
Buffy wasn’t hurt. She lept up and chased Spike with a series of kicks. “I am so glad you said that, Spike. I kind of crave violence.” She knocked him off his feet with a rounhouse kick. She tried to stake him but he rolled away.
Angel caught Spike off guard. He came up behind and grabbed Spike’s arms and pinned them behind is back. “It’s over Spike.”
Buffy staked him quickly. Before he turned to dust he whispered. “Drusilla!”
From the left they heard someone say “Adrian!” Willow approached them from the street. Noticing Buffy and Angel’s bewildered expressions, she said “What? Xander woulda said it if he were here.”
Buffy laughed at the hacker. “ And we still wouldn’t have laughed. What are you doing here, Will?”
“Providing comic relief?” She suggested.
“Cough it up, Will.”
“ I just sort of followed you guys. You know in case you need help or something.” At that moment Oz’s van pulled down the street outside the park.
“Meeting Oz for a little smoochage?” Buffy asked.
“Something like that.” The shy red-head blushed.
“Think you couold convince him to give us a lift?”
“Sure! I mean, but I get shotgun.”
Buffy put an arm around Angel and followed Willow to the van.
