The next day dawned clear and fine with birds singing outside in the trees and sun shining gaily in an azure sky. Unfortunately, it was one of those days when solutions to old problems did not automaticaly present themselves and as she walked over to her car, Buffy had still not resolved her dilemma: she could not remain here now that her task was accomplished.

The world was saved again. But seeing Angel brought back to many emotions she thought were long gone. Knowing they could never be more than friends, she knew those feelings were dangerous. Giving herself a mental shake for being so sentimental, Buffy drove across the countryside to get a breath of fresh air.

He had left her so suddenly right after last night's battle that they had not had the proper goodbye. But she surmised, it was just as well. Less tears, less pain for all.

She had reached her favorite hill. She walked barefoot on the grass, trying to savor the precious few moments she had in Sunnydale, then chose a grassy spot and sat down to rest, not knowing a miracle had happened that would change her life forever.

The battle had turned Angel into a human being for good. The oracles had foreseen this event…the battle with Evil would give the souled vampire his humanity permanently. The transformation only became evident the next day. Angel had run out of his old mansion looking for Buffy but learned she had gone off somewhere. He had informed Willow and the other slayerettes of the change and had gotten confirmation from Duncan that it was real.

Now to tell Buffy…
