A/N: Okay, due to the fact that everyone who read this and reviewed wanted me to keep going with it, I decided to put out another chapter. Hope you guys like this as much as the first one! PLEASE REVIEW!!! Don’t make me beg!
Joyce stood in the kitchen, bracing herself against the counter. Angel was back. The man whom her daughter had loved so much, who had lost his soul, who had left Buffy heart broken. He had wreaked so much havoc on their lives, and she didn’t know what to do. She didn’t know how to protect Buffy.
“Mom?” Buffy asked, coming into the kitchen. Joyce jumped and looked at Buffy. Her beautiful daughter’s face was puzzled and concerned.
“What?”
“Your tea is whistling. Mom, it’s going to be different....”Buffy started as Joyce turned off the stove and poured herself a cup of tea.
“How, Buffy? How is this going to be different? He can’t give you what you want or need. He should have just left well enough alone,” Joyce growled. Buffy’s face grew angry.
“Mom, what I want is him. What I NEED is him. We’ve talked, and the reason that he left...it’s not an issue anymore,” Buffy explained.
“He’s still a vampire. He can’t give you kids,” Joyce sighed, hoping that she wasn’t being selfish.
“Then we’d adopt. Mom, can you just let us give it a try? Can you just be happy for me?” Buffy pleaded.
“What about Riley? He’s such a nice boy,” Joyce suggested, wanting anyone but Angel for her daughter.
“Yeah, he’s nice, but that’s it. I don’t love him and there’s no fire. With Angel I get both.” Buffy stopped when she heard the door open and close. She had sent Angel upstairs to wait in her room while she came in to talk to her mother.
“Buffy?” Riley’s voice called. Every last bit of color drained from Buffy’s face. She cast a look at Joyce who raised her eyebrows.
“Buffy? Didn’t you hear me calling?” Riley asked as he poked his head into the kitchen. His blond hair fell into his eyes and he was dressed in khakis and a white oxford shirt.
“Um, yeah. Riley, we need to talk,” Buffy said uneasily as she looked meaningfully at her mom.
“What’s up?” Riley asked, leaning against the counter.
“Well, Angel’s back. He...well, he and I....we’re sorta back together,” Buffy stammered. Riley’s face grew red.
“Excuse me?” Riley half laughed.
“Ri...it’s hard to explain. I’ve never gotten over him and now he’s back and he’s willing to work things out. I have to try, Riley. He’s always been the love of my life,” Buffy tried to explain.
“You want him? Fine, but don’t come running back to me when he breaks your heart. Again.” With that, Riley stormed out of the house, nearly slamming the door off it’s hinges. Buffy relaxed against the counter, standing much as her mother had been. A few moments later, Angel came in. He silently wrapped his arms around Buffy’s middle and kissed the back of her neck.
“Promise we can make this work? I really don’t want to hear people say I told you so,” Buffy sighed.
“Promise. I am yours until my dying day. You know, you still have to tell Giles, Willow, and Xander,” Angel reminded. Buffy sighed again.
“I know, but let’s let them enjoy Christmas Eve. We can tell them when they come for dinner tomorrow,” Buffy suggested.
“That sounds like a plan. Now why don’t I take you upstairs and help you relax?” Angel said suggestively, wiggling his eyebrows.
“Dawn’s upstairs!” Buffy gasped.
“We’ll be quiet as mice, promise,” Angel whispered, lightly brushing his hand along her lower abdomen.
“You’re making a lot of promises tonight, Angel, and you’d better make good on them,” Buffy warned. Angel’s eyes twinkled as he began pulling her upstairs.
“Mom? Angel and I will be upstairs. See you in the morning,” Buffy said as they walked by Joyce who was sitting on the couch deep in thought. She waved a hand at them, not really catching the meaning of Buffy’s statement.
“You know, you can’t always stay here. You’ll need to find a place of your own sooner or later,” Buffy reminded Angel and he began to undress.
“I’ll look night after tomorrow, but I’m spending the holidays with my girlfriend and I want no interruptions. Now, get out of those clothes before I take you out of them,” Angel smirked. Buffy raised one eyebrow and obliged...painfully slowly. When she was finally undress, she and Angel crawled into bed, and they really were quiet as mice.
